  • Very very nice and good explain in these video tutorials, thanks really,.,.,.

    just one think,

    p.s.

    ufff :/ Erika,.,i love you!

  • Things I like about Bert : not afraid to: use a 285HV , one of the best flashes out there, plain umbrella rather than non sense and over sized softboxes, not afraid to use his accent and say "increase the IZO" and show that even a professional uses a home made thing like a grid. I personally use a beauty dish. :D Bert you rock and thanks to you i will come soon to Belgium. cheers

  • Terrific! I'm impressived.

I wonder how you can well control the speedlight which was weaken by diffusing umbrella as main light...!

  • here is a tip:

I use a 5 pound dumbbell for my light stand, it fits right in between the bars at the bottom. and is held in with a simple pen or stick. steady as a rock, and easier to transport than sand bags.

  • 1:55 hahaha. no it's NOT.

  • I am truly a fan of your creativity and work!

  • Great stuff yeah! Goed bezig!

  • hey what speedlights are those? how come you don't use canon flashes?

  • He uses some kind of vivitar flash, probably because the canon's are so expensive and don't last.

  • is a vivitar 285 hv, the flash he uses on shoots.

  • This was a response to

    shmeldrick 's comments.

    I absolutely LOVE Bert's videos.

You have to be great to share:

A great photographer and a great man.

    Best,

  • I'm sorry, did it appear to you that I was criticizing Bert? No, absolutely not, I love his videos, they are extremely instrucitve and creative, I was simply trying to answer the question somebody asked about why he doesnt use canon flashes.

  • To shmeldrick:

Not only you don't know what a 285HV is you also obviously don't know how good Canon flashes are.

I use both Viv and Canon. Diferent Applications, different leagues:

The 285 is a great bang for the buck, 580's II's are simply fabulous flashes.

  • Ok, well first off I do know what a 285HV is but I wasn't sure if that was what he was using.

I never said canon flashes aren't good, but it is true that they dont last, and I have many photographer friends who use canon who say they dont last, and for 400 bucks each, its really not worth having 3 or 4 that always need replacing, when vivitars last far longer, i know canon's are great for certain things but I was saying that for this kind of work it probably doesn't justify the price for bert.

  • Ok, did not meant to sound agressive...

First I have 2 Canons. They have never had any issues, my friends the same - same have 8 years old.

Check Bert's Confessions #6. He uses 580's II.

He also uses an SB24 and (at least) 3 Viv's.

Cannot argue as to how good value 285HV's are specially as off the camera strobes BUT not as flexible as for example a 430 or powerful as a 580 ( eg weak build)

If Vivs were 'all that you need', 580s and SB800 had no sales.

Still lots of fun and I use mine a lot.

  • Correction... I believe Bert USED a SB24 before he was stoled in Spain.

  • Another (not less important) thing, recycle times:

    Not comparable at all.

  • beautiful photography really appreciate the info and looking forward to the new series of lime movies. Thanks

  • The geeky stuff is exactly why I subsribed
