damn good job mike you have a right to look back an cry you did amazing things, you had great talent an good disciplin plus a father figure in your life who loved you an inspired you, alot of people dont have that, me included, great documentary
He get's so sad and emotional when he talks about the man becouse he was the only one that ever truely believed in tyson. That's all i need is one person in my life to believe in me.
One of the greatest if not the greatest boxer of our time. He was used and abused by almost every single person that came in contact with him. I dont support some of the stuff he did, but I understand why he did it. We are all sinners, and before we judge him we have to look at his lonely and miserable life even though he was surrounded by people, even though he was surrounded by money. I love Mike
I love the part when he starts getting emotional because it just goes to show how proud of himself he is about those achievements at that age and for working so hard with Cuss.
Mr brown pride, don't think the people he fights cry coz mr Tyson don't give them the chance he just knocks you out, and I don't think you would be man enough to say it to his face
You can really tell that Mike loved that man that took him in, it was the first time he was truly exposed to care and family (Y) i think without that love he wouldn't of become the man he is today, i think it's nice.
fuck thats fucking depresing Cus Damato sad he would never leave until Mike became champion but he died shortly before Mike won the world championship. Thats an oscar right here people,
"A reason to live." ...thats what i think we all need to keep going. It used to be fortune&fame for me, for a lot of ppl........but today its much bigger. More important-my kids, and my grandkids. That keeps me going when i think there's nothing left for me to do, achieve, in this world. And it aint like i am gonna part rivers and move mountains for them either. Nah....just an ear, a hug, a keep up the good work, now and then. Just being there.
he always wears his heart on his sleeve, no fake facades just himself. i look up to his accomplishments and try to learn from his mistakes. thanks for uploading this. great quality.
It just goes to show, after all this years and everything that tyson achieved and went through in his life he still cant even talk about Cus D'Amato without crying and getting emotional. That shows what an amazing bond they had and how much he meant to him and i truly believe that if he would of lived another 20 years Mike Tyson would of been an undefeated world champion his entire career. Thanks for the memories Mike, You were the best.
@EDAJIREC me too, i think he would have still had the discipline there, cus wouldnt have let the leeches get to mike like the don kings and all the others, he would have kept his feet on the ground
But when I first heard it, I was like "I have heard this somewhere else before, where the hell have I heard this???" It hit me, this is nearly EXACTLY what Mick said to Rocky in the ring in Rocky 5 when Mick gave his necklace with the boxing glove on it. And I would be if I had a chance to ask Sylvester Stallone, he would admit that he got it from this very interview with Cus D'Amato.
Wow that's crazy how Cus D'Amato said that Tyson was his motivation to live, he said if it wasn't for Tyson he wouldn't be alive...It makes you wonder if Cus died because he knew Tyson was the one. He knew he would be the greatest that ever lived and he had did his job already...
Amazing...watching and listening Tyson i feel great respect for him, as a sportsmen but even more for his qualities as person. Mike Tyson is one of the people that i would like to know personally, and if i have the privilege to speak to him personally i would like to tell him that I'm honestly sorry that he didn't became absolutely the greatest boxers of all time, with (potentially) more than 100 wins, the most powerful man that God ever created. But without that, he is stil Special...
@rajjjj24 And Robin Givens and her mother. Tyson should have filed his taxes every year and had a trusted financial advisor. He should have put enough money aside to pay his taxes before he overspent, then he would be all set for life. He didn't need all those cars and other expensive shit. But I know he was just a kid at the time.
Holy shit, the speech Cus says at 7:20 is EXACTLY word for word the speech that Mickey gives Rocky in Rocky V during the flashback when Rocky goes back to his old gym. Pretty cool find and never knew that!

cus d amato got this story line out of rocky ........................rockys manager mickey says it to him in the gym hes back in time cause mickeys died .its all good
@MultiPlayaaa Other way around. The Rocky film you refer to is Rocky 5, which was released in 1990. Cus D'Amato died in 1985. Stallone stole that line from him.
DON`T get me wrong here,i am a 110% Tyson-fan,BUT: I donno if it was bcoz he holds a grudge or whatever,Teddy Atlas spoke of Cus and how he ALTSO but his own interrests b4 mikes,in the way that Mike got in trouble, and Cus "cleaned up" after him bcoz "He was knocking ppl out,and he was going to make catskills famous".So again and again he got Mike back INTO school when he got expelled. So Mike learned from an early age that the rules didn`t apply 2 him.1st as a thug and later 4 KO`ing ppl.I donno.
I didn't even watch half of it when I realized why what Cus D'Amato said sounded so familiar. That is nearly exactly what Mick said to Rocky in Rocky 5.
@youngfocus86 He literally was generating so much force that he was lifting his feet slightly off the ground and throwing himself into the next movement.
@mrceebees14 I think because of his training as A teen From Cus, he just reformed it N later years & turned It in 2 just raw power & speed, plus he's tactical .... I think he's the 2nd greatest boxer N history...
@youngfocus86 Gifts like Mikes were always there, they say in sports the biggest crime is wasted talent. Mike got very lucky, they got through to him and what was always there was brought to the surface. Tactical? Not sure I would agree with that, don't get me wrong, having fought myself and being the smaller guy in nearly every fight I know what it means to be smarter. With Mike though I think he had more to learn, if Cus had lived longer, Mike would have been better for it ten fold.
You should read the book White Fang by Jack London...Mike was like a wild, but powerful wolf but D'amato domesticated him. He was like his master. Then when he died Tyson returned to being a wild uncontrolled animal.
Tyson was a true champion if it wasnt for the fact that he got involved with don king and getting married to robin, drinking, drugs etc he would have NEVER been defeated his mind was messed up when he lost to buster and like he says boxing is more then physical its mental
I agree with "yepthatsjoeoundsgoo" or whatever. Mohamed Ali was a genius who revolutionised boxing, outsmarted his opponents and who was way ahead of his time. That said I don't think he could withstand Tyson's onslaught. I feel the sheer weight of the work rate, speed and power in Tyson's attack would be physically too much for him to deal with, even though his defences and ability to fight on the back foot were legendary. Unless he survived the first 8 rounds...
Ya Allah, please give Mr Tyson saqqina (tranquility) and sabr (patience), ameen. I love this guy - how much have the media portrayed him as a bad guy ? I don't think any of the media can be trusted anymore. They have been proven to be liars and decievers time and time again.
This story defines a true champion, say that you want about Tyson but this man has been through alot and still has the guts and honesty to share his story.
Muhammad Ali had Angelo Dundee as his trainer throughout his entire career, and although I've noticed not much emphasis on Dundee's importance, it seems clear that the guy was crucial in making sure Ali stayed focused and prepared before each fight. Kevin Rooney was D'Amato's successor and essentially Tyson's Dundee. If he had stayed, Tyson would have stayed unbeatable.
@danceswithwolvesful Thanks. Maybe I shouldn't have said that Tyson would have definitely been unbeatable (that's a BOLD statement) but I'm pretty sure Tyson wouldn't have dropped so dramatically in form.
@TenTonHorse Man, you are 100% right again and i'm preety sure. If Tyson had stayed with Kevin Rooney, the only trainer who known how train him, he would have definitely been unbeatable. All the others trainers tried to chance this style, because they didn't know the, CUS D' AMATO, "Peek a Boo" style and the number system of it. Tyson had used the, CUS D' AMATO, "Peek a Boo" style, since he was 13 years old. This is the most important reason who Tyson fallen down. Everyone can learn "Peek a Boo"
@danceswithwolvesful I think Rooney was hostile to Givens (he was always suspicious of her) and Givens and King convinced Tyson that this was unacceptable. What puzzles me though is that if Don King is this greedy motherfucker, why didn't he get Rooney back? The reason Tyson became such big business in the first place was because he was so damn good. When he became a chaotic shell in the 90's, he became less profitable. King made a bad business decision, not just a bad decision for Tyson.
@TenTonHorse I agree listen and this fact "Before he died, Cus told Jimmy: 'Make sure Mike will always have money.' So Bill and Jimmy set up a tax free account that enabled Mike to get $250,000 a year... tax free... for the rest of his LIFE! So if Mike lived to be 100, he still would have gotten $250,000 a year... TAX FREE! But, Don King made him turn in that policy to pay for the lawyers who represented him in that bogus rape trial! A rape trial where Mike had a TAX LAWYER to defend him!
@danceswithwolvesful Wow, I didn't know that. But again, what a stupid decision on King's part. Sure, you'd have to pay extra for qualified lawyers, but what's better: paying more in the immediate future for the court case, or having Mike locked up and missing three years worth of fights? I think Don King knows a lot less about boxing that people think. Sure, he's great at hyping up a fight, but he didn't realise Mike's potential; if he had, he would have fought tooth and nail for Tyson.
@TenTonHorse I don't believe that it was stupid decision. I believe that it was intentional decision. Don King is businessman and very smart man. He became the richest man on the planet fro
it just broke his heart when cus died.....

Wow.
I didn't even watch half of it when I realized why what Cus D'Amato said sounded so familiar. That is nearly exactly what Mick said to Rocky in Rocky 5.

@mrceebees14 Dude was A BEAST....
youngfocus86 1 year ago
@youngfocus86 He literally was generating so much force that he was lifting his feet slightly off the ground and throwing himself into the next movement.
That is incredible power.
mrceebees14 1 year ago
@mrceebees14 I think because of his training as A teen From Cus, he just reformed it N later years & turned It in 2 just raw power & speed, plus he's tactical .... I think he's the 2nd greatest boxer N history...
youngfocus86 11 months ago
@youngfocus86 Gifts like Mikes were always there, they say in sports the biggest crime is wasted talent. Mike got very lucky, they got through to him and what was always there was brought to the surface. Tactical? Not sure I would agree with that, don't get me wrong, having fought myself and being the smaller guy in nearly every fight I know what it means to be smarter. With Mike though I think he had more to learn, if Cus had lived longer, Mike would have been better for it ten fold.
mrceebees14 11 months ago
You should read the book White Fang by Jack London...Mike was like a wild, but powerful wolf but D'amato domesticated him. He was like his master. Then when he died Tyson returned to being a wild uncontrolled animal.

Tyson was a true champion if it wasnt for the fact that he got involved with don king and getting married to robin, drinking, drugs etc he would have NEVER been defeated his mind was messed up when he lost to buster and like he says boxing is more then physical its mental
shutupho07 1 year ago
I agree with "yepthatsjoeoundsgoo" or whatever. Mohamed Ali was a genius who revolutionised boxing, outsmarted his opponents and who was way ahead of his time. That said I don't think he could withstand Tyson's onslaught. I feel the sheer weight of the work rate, speed and power in Tyson's attack would be physically too much for him to deal with, even though his defences and ability to fight on the back foot were legendary. Unless he survived the first 8 rounds...

legend and thats that!!!!

TenTonHorse 1 year ago
@TenTonHorse YOU ARE 100% RIGHT.
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@danceswithwolvesful Thanks. Maybe I shouldn't have said that Tyson would have definitely been unbeatable (that's a BOLD statement) but I'm pretty sure Tyson wouldn't have dropped so dramatically in form.
TenTonHorse 1 year ago
@TenTonHorse Man, you are 100% right again and i'm preety sure. If Tyson had stayed with Kevin Rooney, the only trainer who known how train him, he would have definitely been unbeatable. All the others trainers tried to chance this style, because they didn't know the, CUS D' AMATO, "Peek a Boo" style and the number system of it. Tyson had used the, CUS D' AMATO, "Peek a Boo" style, since he was 13 years old. This is the most important reason who Tyson fallen down. Everyone can learn "Peek a Boo"
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@danceswithwolvesful I think Rooney was hostile to Givens (he was always suspicious of her) and Givens and King convinced Tyson that this was unacceptable. What puzzles me though is that if Don King is this greedy motherfucker, why didn't he get Rooney back? The reason Tyson became such big business in the first place was because he was so damn good. When he became a chaotic shell in the 90's, he became less profitable. King made a bad business decision, not just a bad decision for Tyson.
TenTonHorse 1 year ago
@TenTonHorse I agree listen and this fact "Before he died, Cus told Jimmy: 'Make sure Mike will always have money.' So Bill and Jimmy set up a tax free account that enabled Mike to get $250,000 a year... tax free... for the rest of his LIFE! So if Mike lived to be 100, he still would have gotten $250,000 a year... TAX FREE! But, Don King made him turn in that policy to pay for the lawyers who represented him in that bogus rape trial! A rape trial where Mike had a TAX LAWYER to defend him!
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@TenTonHorse You don't hire a TAX lawyer for a rape case... you hire a RAPE lawyer. Hell, We could have defended Mike and gotten him off!"
Kevin Rooney and Steve Lott exactly said.
Bro, i cannot understand how this bastard Don King ruined the greatest boxer after Ali who i have ever seen!!!
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@danceswithwolvesful Wow, I didn't know that. But again, what a stupid decision on King's part. Sure, you'd have to pay extra for qualified lawyers, but what's better: paying more in the immediate future for the court case, or having Mike locked up and missing three years worth of fights? I think Don King knows a lot less about boxing that people think. Sure, he's great at hyping up a fight, but he didn't realise Mike's potential; if he had, he would have fought tooth and nail for Tyson.
TenTonHorse 1 year ago
@TenTonHorse I don't believe that it was stupid decision. I believe that it was intentional decision. Don King is businessman and very smart man. He became the richest man on the planet fro
