i live in Monti........i live near the water tower and our house ALMOST it was sooooo close to getting hit by the tornado but it went right back up when it hit the water tower.... i was sooo scared.... :(
haha!!! i remember that i was 9mo preg standing outside looking up at the cell asking myself y the sirens r going off? n y is that so close to the gound? stupidity at it highest !!lol but we don'y have a basement so we would have been screwed anyways =P
This looks to be filmed near the intersection of cty rd. 37 and hwy 25 between Buffalo and Monticello. There was a confirmed touchdown at the intersection of 50th st. and braddock ave in n.w. Buffalo, took down trees and power lines then moved north through cty rd 37 towards Monti
after reaching the EF5 rating, a tornadoes damage stays the same, which is total
devastation. Although, if a twister ever rips through a big city, like Houston, and one of it's skyscrapers gets destroyed, then maybe it should be EF6?
@blue3tar EF 5 covers windspeed up to 318 mph, but it isn't limited to that number. The number 318 is from the Moore, OK in 99'. If there is a more powerful tornado it will still be an EF5. Like you said total devestation can't be eclipsed. Would be like being deader.
It won't take an EF5 to destroy a skyscraper. An EF4 could easily reduce a skyscraper to a metal and concrete skeleton with significant structural damage. Just a matter of time until it happens. It's a historical Certainty.
1.Did you guys go to hugo when that one tornado hit?
2.Reed is my hero!I would give anything to be like you! If only i wasn't only 12 years old!I am training to become a storm chaser like you guys.Do you have any advice for me? If you need anyone to go with you I would LOVE to go!
@BarrelRacer49 True there is no such thing as an EF6, but I am just saying that who knows, maybe one day it could happen. I missed Dr. Teddy, I wish he was stil around, I wonder how much more he would love today's advancement in weather studies. Take care :)
@DimeBagPlz You know what is interesting is how one day there will be a predicted EF6 and it will happen, maybe, and people will just be awestruck lol, the rain wrapped tornadoes are so annoying to track, ninety percent of the better ones are rain wrapped, pure insanity :)

Instead of saying "God help them", why not say "I really hope that they are OK". If there were a benevolent god, then he wouldn't create tornadoes and other natural disasters which kill his own children. It may have just been a figure of speech, but just saying....
@SynapticChaos He can say whatever he chooses to say, figure of speech or not. Lastly, God doesn't create tornadoes, our environment does, so your argument is weak. It's clear you don't practice religion, but you should at least practice science, they do teach that in school.
@SynapticChaos Respectfully speaking bud, nature will take its course, rather there is a God or not, nature has its cycles, just like humans, please understand that you cannot let natural disasters affect your opinion on God, life goes on everytime, take care friend :)
Has anybody else realized that every year a different state gets hit that rarely gets hit. Maybe it is just me, but outbreaks are hitting just about every state, except northeastern coast so far.
am I the only one who finds it Ironic that this video has a little ad at the bottom to plan your next trip event or camp to Minnesota? Gonna be there in a week...eek
I so wish i could go with you guys. I live in kentucky and we had one tornado on the ground and 3 more funnel clouds was spotted over are town while the other one went through. No damage was done by the tornado but lighting did hit building behind a gas station. It caught on fire. I was wanting to chase that storm so bad but I also want to be with a meteorologist to keep me safe. Good Luck and Be Careful.
I was wondering if you all caught this. Amazing footage. One of my friends was in Wadena at the time. She said it sounded like a freight train, the roaring was ear - popping.
@Fran616 Judging from how you describe the scene, it sounds like pictures like that would be a great addition to the ends of these tornado videos. But thats just me.

@DrCumulus, sorry but there isn't such thing as an EF6. It goes from EF0 through EF5.

@BarrelRacer49 originally the scale had a limit, but when a tornado finally exceeded the limit, it was changed so that F5 was limitless.
