I always thought it was a young Dennis Waterman from The Sweeney and Minder. Looks like him and about the right era for his age!

@critch1901 Ironically it was Denis Gilmore a ginger headed kid who also played the part of William Brown in Just William on BBC. The William Brown before him was...Dennis Waterman!!!

Interestingly, this advert is directed by Lindsay Anderson, who went on to make such masterpieces as if.... and O Lucky Man! I edited his diaries for publication. He also directed the ones starring John Moulder-Brown. I'd love to see those if anyone has them?

found out about this 'truely terrifying' advert through 'charlie brookers screenwipe' , humorously pointing out that this ad would by todays advertising standards be illegal, by it's encouragement of pester power.

'don't forget my fruitgums mum' - "yeah, pick them up on your way back from the therapist"!
