i'm indonesian. my dad knew him, they studied their school in madrasah which was a muslim only school. But then he moved to penabur which was a christian top school which had a better rating in indonesia.
this is so typical of CNN and the corporate media network.definitely another form of diversion. the question you should be asking yourself right now is not "was he really raised as a muslim or did he really attend a madrasah?". the question should be "what is so wrong with attending a madrasah or being raised muslim?".
a madrasah is a public school that operates just as others do, only with a bit more emphasis on Islam. it has nothing to with terrorism or violence. if you'd like to argue that islam is a violent religion in itself. i can say the same for christianity and pull out some bloody passages if you'd like. but this is not my main concern.

Not really, i think that's not necessarilly true. Even there's confrontation like in Sulawesi or other regions, we're acceptable to them.
Eg.: If we hate the Hindus, so why there are hundreds hidus temple here(Bali). and even there are church that near mosques, the cathedral church in Jakarta is right on the opposite of the Istiqlal mosque (the biggest one in Indo).

I have no more interest in discussing all this with you, Sungkawa.All extremists are the same to me, Europeans, Middle Easterns, Asians,in their religious or political views of both. They only lead to obscurantism, lack of perspective and therefore, plain stupidness !! I am French/Indo.I accept what Europeans have done to their colonies, and agree it was really wrong. The Japanese were warmly welcomed at first, thx to them, the Dutch left, even Sukarno was received by their Emperor, i know all that.
But do not forget about the occupation that followed !!! my family lived in Balikpapan, many were arrested, tortured. Do i have to mention sex slavery, deportation, war crimes ?! Do you think those people you "served" had any care for Indonesians ?

I know but it was better than Dutch ocupation ! most of the turture and beatings was not done by the Japanese but by the HEIHO soldiers mostly Indonesian and Korean man they where Japanese soldiers because they served the Japanese Colaition Force but it was us who filed places such as Tiangi with the Colonists

my fam did evrything for RI we fought in Revolution and evry conflict and offensif we walked along with Suharto and did evrythign he orderd us to do we went to Malaysia and fought we even joined Japan all for Indonesia my ancestors married Indonesians so the new generation would be pure Indonesian
