Let me try a simple explanation with my poor English. Harpya symbolizes in ancient Greek mythology remorse. Which will "consume" you from the moment you start having it. You can only distract it temporally with what we call "entertainment" (divertissement) which here is symbolized here with music. You can only escape from it with death. Simple and maybe not correct but that's all I can come up with for this really smart short film.

That was excellent! The style, the expressions, everything was just great to watch. It was both very amusing and wonderfully artistic. Raoul must have been an odd man to come up with something so abstract. You can tell how much effort he put into every scene and every decision.

Well THAT was kooky.

I man is walking around at night and sees I man choking a woman in a fountain, so he smacks him on the head and stops him. He sees the woman is topless, so he courteously turns away and offers his coat, only to find the the "woman" is actually a harpy, the mythical bird.

Finding it interesting (?) he brings it home to take care of it, but he finds that everytime he tries to eat, she attacks and takes his food. ...

He becomes so hungry that he tries to leave the house, but she attacks him and eats his legs. (Ick...) I'm not sure why she didn't totally eat him...maybe she wants his company? Anyhow, he distracts her with a record and leaves to get a snack, but as he eats it, she appears again and eats his food. Having had enough of this, he tries to choke her, only to be bonked on the head by the nightwatch, and so the cycle continues...

Very odd.
