i used to run track, while running this song in my head. [i wonder how stoned mckenzie was, while while filming "american graffetti";and harrison, had that crazy glint in the eye, even back then.]
I heard this song on drinknos when i was checking the codes to see if i won anything, then i searched the lyrics to this song, and now i've been listening to it for like a week! haha
@ShatteredPixle Same, i love the trombone part, after all that is my main instrument, when the concert next week comes my jazz band will ace this song!
july '70 had the best with mama told me not to come by three dog night, vehicle by ides of march, and up around the bend by creedence clearwater revival.
Had some time around the Band - Blood Sweat & Tears and it always strikes me how much this track sounds like them, from Bobby Columby style drumming, horn section, and David Clayoton Thomas true sound alike
Awesome, Joe! Great song but Greater movie!! That movie was my life! Our town was exactly like that back in the 60's! We went downtown to look for Girls, a party or a street race. We always found at least one. Great times that will never be duplicated again! Thanks for taking me back there for a few minutes!
@nipsterstang I hear you on that Jim. I drag raced for some 17 years on the street (I mean the track) lol ! The days of wine and roses are over. So sad but true. I think all we have left is air the that we breathe.
@TheBacmaster Ha! The Street and the Strip!! Before I left the house, in the evening, before another wonderful unknown adventure, I would wash my Mustang and adjust the lifters, just in case!! Ha! What can these poor kids do today with a Kia! Oh, Mercy am I glad I grew up when I did!! Well, "Grow Up" is a relative term, I guess! Ha! Keep up the Great work, Joe!!
@TheBacmaster WEll said my friend. Thanks for having the insight so many others lack. LOL. /btw I had a 70 roadrunner. Fully loaded. 10.25 quarter mile
@nipsterstang I watched or rather rode shotgun!!- just like the little girl( Mackenzie-Phillips)in the movie-with the older guy who got stuck with me! he was nice n kind anywayz to me, He got a kick out of seeing this kid-me having such fun just cruising the Avenue and be-boppin' rock-n-roll on the radio did I say I had a blast?! LOL-
I used to cruise around in my 69 Roadrunner listening to songs like this on my 8-Track. Long Live Rock.

wish they would have kept the guitar solos out of the song, back then they didnt know how to solo except for a small crop of players.
huntersingle 1 month ago
@huntersingle actually that was a pretty good guitar solo for the time, and it is my favorite part of the song, You should try to play it.
