I have this same camera. Do you normally shoot in 720 60p mode or what do you use for Youtube. I have found that shooting in 1080 60i is not the best format for editing.
I see Youtube handles the 720 60p best. Good video by the way. I live in Winter Haven and familiar with Bok.
@twincitybulldog - thanks for the feedback. I generally shoot in 1080p as it offers the highest resolution. I can down-convert from there if needed. Of course, if I want to shoot for slow motion, I go with 720p60. I almost never shoot in an interlaced format.
@tank9 - thanks for the feedback! No, all of the shots are in real time, as shot. I did run a light pass of the SmoothCam filter on a couple of them to take out some of the more obvious footstep artifacts; always working to try to smooth those shots out.
I own the same camera and I'm looking to get the camera on a crane with distance controller (rec, stop, zoom in-out,). Do you suggest any models or brands of controller and crane I would need ?
@CCFrancoOuest - I've always had pretty good luck with the VariZoom controllers. I've used them with my Canon cameras and my Panasonic cameras. Manfrotto and Bebob Engineering make well-reviewed models as well.
@calabazafilms - I shot the video using the camera's AVCHD codec in PH mode. Upon ingestion into Final Cut Pro, the files are converted to the higher-data rate ProRes 422 codec. I exported the finished project as an H.264 QuickTime file and then YouTube re-encodes to the H.264 Flash Video codec (for the lower-resolution versions) and the H.264 MPEG-4 codec for the higher-resolution ones. I understand Youtube is now implementing VP8 as well.
@moigin - take a look at the comments section of the "Panasonic AG-HMC40 AVCHD Test Footage" video on Vimeo (just do a search using the title); I posted some info on using my Steadicam Merlin there when responding to user Eldon Griffin.
If you have other specific questions after reading my comments, I'll certainly try to oblige.

Very nice. I can't believe nobody hit the like button until I came along. You did great. Did you slow down some shots with the Steadicam Merlin?
