Actually, Yellow Magic Orchestra wrote this song and recorded it in 1979. Michael jackson recorded a cover with some new lyrics in the 1980's and it was released finally last year.
@rachemdferg Actually, MJ WROTE the song, recorded and never released in life. The song with him singing was released now in the postumus album "MICHAEL". But Eric Clapton sang it very good too.
ohhh when i was 4 years my mother buy a cassette recorder for me and i find in my fathers car a casset of that and at 4 am when i grow up i hear that song on the highest volume =)
Love this man, love every song he's ever sung,in my opinion he's the best guitarist I've ever heard,he's just such a great singer/ entertainer, with a perfect voice and such class!
If this is Eric Clapton tired he's doing better than most at their best LOL I know there was some confusion in the middle of the song ,but you gotta admit this is awesome. He's just so darned sexy in a classy sort of way, and the way he holds that guitar, oh God help me,I wish I was so lucky to be played like that!
Gotta laugh at the "bad note" (singular) comments, if you listen a lot more closely it's fairly obvious someone had a change of plan on the song order :)
The two drummer thing is annoying because they vary in and out of sync with each other and neither of them really does anything interesting.
In this performance I have to believe that something went wrong with his monitor, at least in the beginning (notice he tells someone to raise his volume at 0:27). It is very difficult to sing and/or play when you can't hear yourself well, even for Clapton, but he musters up enough gusto to hammer it out, a real pro. He may have been tired already, but he looks wiped out after this performance.
That being said, I love this song and EC's rendition, my favorite song from "August"!
clapton was in singapore 3 months ago. he was outside my place with a bag full of t-shirts (expensive ones), so i asked him if he would be doing this song in his gig...he turned round to me, and gave me a rude NO! it much be hard being clapton at times.
i was surprised that his 'NO' was so full of angst...he literally spat it out. he was with his manager and a bodyguard waiting for their limo at the time, so i wished him good luck, and i walked off...not good, my hands were trembling.
WHY? without the fans, artists would be nothing. i wasn't being rude, or being an asshole or anything. indeed i was very polite. all there he had to say was "no i won't be doing that one" and that would have been it.

Okay, then. But celebrities are humans, too; they have bad days and can be unduly rude just as we can.
