  • Actually, Yellow Magic Orchestra wrote this song and recorded it in 1979. Michael jackson recorded a cover with some new lyrics in the 1980's and it was released finally last year.

  • if this doesn't get you dancing and singing nothing will........

  • well what can i say ! loved it when it came out ! still brilliant!1

  • Jools holland is still a twat

  • this is what i call a SUPERGROUP!!!!! clapton, king, ure, collins and holland!!!

  • Love it! I recommend you all check out Michael Jacksons version of the song- he did a excellent cover :) Xxo

  • @rachemdferg Actually, MJ WROTE the song, recorded and never released in life. The song with him singing was released now in the postumus album "MICHAEL". But Eric Clapton sang it very good too.

  • jools holland on keyboards?

  • ベースがマーク・キングじゃん。すげぇ~。

  • sounds like genesis,YMO original version i think.

  • フィルコリンズがかっこよすぎ!

  • mark king quality on bass, he absolutely has sex with that axe.....

  • if this concert is is before 87, he's drunk

  • @MathColeto is at 87 prince's trust concert

  • Phil Collins was a drumer!

    and left some hiar!

  • Amen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fantastic song and phil collins on the drums

  • Wow I love this Song I get to sing the background Vocals with the Guys YAHHHHH!

  • Love this MJ edited version of this song better than the original. Eric did a great cover!

  • I saw Clapton @ NEC snap a string half way thro Lahla didn't even pause. A master

  • ohhh when i was 4 years my mother buy a cassette recorder for me and i find in my fathers car a casset of that and at 4 am when i grow up i hear that song on the highest volume =)

and now iam 13 years old and i love that song!!!!

    Sina

  • Even with a beard (which I hate) Clapton is a darned sexy man! Love this song.

  • brilliant line-up led by the master.

would have been nice to see brian may in there though.

  • ***********

  • Christ have fucking mercy - look at that bastard line up. I'd murder kids to get a ticket to that gig, seriously.

  • MAN ALIVE I cannot see a single fault in the line up. Not a single fault.

  • @14dollars What even the dude from Level 42!!!!

  • why do these concerts not happen any more. They are all still performing and there is still a Princes Trust (I think)!

  • Love this man, love every song he's ever sung,in my opinion he's the best guitarist I've ever heard,he's just such a great singer/ entertainer, with a perfect voice and such class!

  • If this is Eric Clapton tired he's doing better than most at their best LOL I know there was some confusion in the middle of the song ,but you gotta admit this is awesome. He's just so darned sexy in a classy sort of way, and the way he holds that guitar, oh God help me,I wish I was so lucky to be played like that!

  • Brillant!!!!

  • Gotta laugh at the "bad note" (singular) comments, if you listen a lot more closely it's fairly obvious someone had a change of plan on the song order :)

The two drummer thing is annoying because they vary in and out of sync with each other and neither of them really does anything interesting.

  • Not Forgetting Jools Holland on the black and whites...

  • Mark King on bass!

    Awesome

  • YMO song

  • Yup, but this is the version that Michael Jackson edited, he adding lyrics and an extra melody to the original instrumental version.

  • eric is pretty damn tired here..check his solo at 4:17-bad note..one of the greatest performance though..it just blew the place away

  • @hypermiguel No, baby-that's just him. Slowhand!

  • instrumental bacana

  • I liked the one at the prince's trust concert 1988 much better..

  • its the same concert fool

  • eeh no its not..

  • yes it is fool

  • SEMINAL

  • Nathan East is indeed the man, but I think Mark King (whose finesse is really slap) plays this really well.

  • One of the best songs ever! And this is the best version of this song i've ever seen!

  • who wears another face?

  • Do you really need to ask?

  • In this performance I have to believe that something went wrong with his monitor, at least in the beginning (notice he tells someone to raise his volume at 0:27). It is very difficult to sing and/or play when you can't hear yourself well, even for Clapton, but he musters up enough gusto to hammer it out, a real pro. He may have been tired already, but he looks wiped out after this performance.

That being said, I love this song and EC's rendition, my favorite song from "August"!

  • I think he was "tired" as in shitfaced drunk. This was probably at the height of his relapse.

  • thats cool phil colins mark king and eric class

  • he was so amazing when i went to c him he has never lost any tallent atall just amazing !!!

  • clapton was in singapore 3 months ago. he was outside my place with a bag full of t-shirts (expensive ones), so i asked him if he would be doing this song in his gig...he turned round to me, and gave me a rude NO! it much be hard being clapton at times.

  • why would clapton not play this song anymore?

  • i was surprised that his 'NO' was so full of angst...he literally spat it out. he was with his manager and a bodyguard waiting for their limo at the time, so i wished him good luck, and i walked off...not good, my hands were trembling.

  • I'd imagine that I'd pretty annoyed after 35+ years of fans requesting songs.

  • WHY? without the fans, artists would be nothing. i wasn't being rude, or being an asshole or anything. indeed i was very polite. all there he had to say was "no i won't be doing that one" and that would have been it.

  • Okay, then. But celebrities are humans, too; they have bad days and can be unduly rude just as we can.

  • This is really a timeless oldschool classic. I'd whish, Eric would perform it live again ! Over and over again !

  • Thanks for posting this.That's a great song and what a line-up!

  • Is that Midge Ure on second guitar?

  • Yep

  • Yeah, apparently he's the one that put this band together.

  • For some reason my comment showed up at the top of the page. I was replying to the comment about Midge Ure. Yes, that's him.

  • It has been a LONG time since I saw this..thanks for posting it.Sure does bring back a lot of good memories.

  • i jus love this
