Why is everyone forgetting Kick-Ass? Chloe Moretz deserved a nomination for her role, her performance was equal if not more astonishing then the nominated Hailee Steinfeld. Kick-ass also had amazing cinematography, sound editing and mixing, and cutting edge visual effects.

I personally think the sex scene in Black Swan symbolized Natalie Portman's character's sick fascination with the role of the Black Swan, and since Mila Kunis' character embodied the Black Swan to her, she fell in love with her personality to the point where she wanted to have sex with her. I also think it was all going on in her (Natalie's) character's head. I really doubt it was just meant to be soft-core porn.

Annette Bening did a totally believable portrayal of a lesbian mother. Natalie Portman appeared to be over-acting most of the time. My vote goes to Bening for a flawless performance in a complex role.

Calling Black Swan's sex scene softcore porn is a little dramatic. It's certainly not the most graphic sex scene ever, if fact, its not that bad at all. She was nominated based on the fact that her perfromance was great, not because of the hype of a sex scene. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think you are misjudging the scene based on the fact that its between two women, and therefore not a conventional sex scene.

@jsauce22 I'm not in favor for nudity helping anyone get awards, male or female. It should be the quality of the acting that counts, not "how far" one is willing to push themselves. And that kind of thinking could easily lead to other actresses and actors going further than they feel comfortable with the hope that they too will get all this industry, high-brow attention.

Natalie Portman was not at all revealing , and the sex scene although explicit, it was not revealing.... as opposed to Halle Berry winning Best Actress in 2001 for Monster's Ball when she did reveal herself. Have you seen black swan? you keep bringing up the sex scene which is what the movie is notorious for, and even the people who haven't seen it know of it. Black swan is my favorite movie of the year and the sex scene didn't even need to be there, you forget about it because after the movie is over, you're just so stunned by how, horrifying yet beautiful it was. again, not trying to be rude, just wondering.
