It seems as though self-rising flour would have way too much leavening and salt in it. It is what I use to make buttermilk biscuits with. But they do look really good.
@mytriplive so I watched the interview. Jake was SO MEAN!!! I say, poor Vienna. He should not have picked her, true. But she seemed genuine and herself. He seemed pompous.
STACIE! I am on a HUGE cooking binge right now and you just reminded me of crepes... it looks easy enough... plus, I just can't get my eggs benedict right... but it sure has been fun to try :) Keep it up!
I only eat goose eggs now..they are amazing, ordinary chicken eggs seem teeny ...never did get my ostritch egg by the way , too expensive. so i stole an ostritch...it seems fine living on the balcony and i plan to get a small primate to keep it company...im so glad my lobotomy went weel ! i like yor crepes ; ) im actually wearing one right now !
How come you don't turn the crepe and bake it on the other side. I come from Europe and here crepes are pancakes (I hope you know what I mean. We call your pancakes American pancake and we call crepes pancakes). And we make them browner too.
@tamalaursa You are very observant! I do not turn it over because I like to use the "soft side" or the top as the outside of the crepe. I like the appearance, and I like it to be soft and when I cook both sides it gets a little crunchy. You CAN cook it on both sides if you prefer it that way. It just is not necessary.
@TheFamousStacie We are soo different. I loove the crunchy parts haha. I do agree that it's not necessary and I do put some baking powder in my crepes because they are more fluffy. Could you make a how to video for your pancakes? I tried to make them but I don't know what I do wrong they just doesn't turn out good :S.
@ReliableInsider They just don't set so I can't flip them without spilling the batter all over my stove. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong :P. And they taste like baking powder :O.
@tamalaursa I don't know if you have ever tried Self-Rising Flour, but it tastes Sooooo good AND it already has salt and baking soda mixed in. So never add baking soda to self-rising flour. Only add baking soda to all-purpose flour. Try using self rising flour for your pancakes and eliminate the salt and baking soda.
As for the the batter spilling, wait to flip the pancake until the top is bubbly and looks very dry. THEN flip and I promise no batter will spill or slosh! Cook on Griddle
Maybe try dumping the baking powder into the flour and then sifting it twice. That helps distribute the baking powder more evenly throughout the flour so you don't taste the baking powder.
If the batter is flying around, maybe try making them small so they're easier to handle.
can you use chocolate sauce?
