@mantastic101 League of legends is a free to play game and It manages to make tons of money and support the game servers just fine. That is aslong as people continue to support the game by purchasing in game content every once and awhile Lets to play the game even when you cant afford to but be able to support it and get benefits when you can afford to. Games are losing the subscriptions most games wont be able to pull that off anymore.

Why are so many people skeptical about this game? There's like nothing that could go wrong. Planetside 1 was an amazing game that die hard fans played for like 8 years of their life, the only reason its not great now is because there aren't enough players, specifically new players (they make the game really fun). This is going to be free to play with no advantages for payers, the servers will hold even more people, and they aren't changing too much from the last game, they are just upgrading.

Like most MMOFPS or RPG, how will they handle the load issues. If you got over 1000 peps logging into a server and fighting each other, how are they going to deal with the load. I hope they got a plan, cause i want it to run smooth. I feel they can take there time with this game, Release when all the bugs are gone, this will give me time to play diablo.

Used to play Planetside1 back in the day, and played to about 2007/8. Planetside needs thousands of players to fulfill its promise, and huge continents no less. I am really worried that PS2 will just end up like PS1 did, with about 100 people in a battle at any one time. Will they have some kind of Bot system kicking in when the amount of players are not sufficient for the game to play out as it should...

@kapteinsnute This game is gonna be F2P, meaning there's gonna be A LOT more players (at least during the launch of the game). I wouldn't worry too much about finding players. Organising them though, that might be an issue...

I have been playing planetside 1 for years, and they aren't kidding about this revolution in FPS gaming. I've been waiting for them to make a true MMOFPS that becomes mainstream for so long. It's gonna be FREE TO PLAY too, with no unfair advantages from pay to play. Can't wait.

@rtv05 Actually they're using it as a strategy to get a lot of people to play, because the only way the game can be successful is if a lot of people play. You don't get any advantages in terms of gameplay if you pay, it's just like different outfits and useless stuff for kids and chicks. Also, it's pretty much impossible to cheat, unless you're a programmer who knows how to make hacks, and they don't show up often in online games like these. And it's nothing like Battlefield Heroes.

@randomenigma59 Using a mouse to aim is superior than a thumbstick. It's far more precise and allows you to change scrolling speeds as opposed to setting a sensitivity. Even if you had an even balance of players it would get old for console players, PCs also would most likely have less ping on large servers because of faster processors and internet. Not to say a 360 player couldn't be just as good on a pc, but trust me, it would be a joke.

To refine the example, you COULD have 1 person with a Medic tool, Repair tool, Hacking tool, Sniper Rifle, and AV Decimator driving a Skyguard for AA support. It's just too much and was impossible to balance. If you didn't understand the point Matt was trying to make, then it was YOU who obviously never played the game.

@CosmicConciousness No, He is right. The devs screwwed up already. The lack of classes and weapons where not the problem with PS. The problem with it was the bases. The game had very little content and no reassion to do nothing more then to besiege the bases. If they want to fix PS2 they need to add more battle points. Mines and crystal resources. Make some places worth getting like science labs. So you can unlock new weapons and armor. The game need more then just attack the bases.

@doomblackdragon Not a problem for you maybe, but for many of us, we felt that PS1 slid continuously towards "team deathmatch", epitomized by the BFRs. Frankly, most players need their arms twisted to work as a team. My recommendation at the time was to limit cert points to 12. At the time that would have forced "soft classing". The Devs have taken a good step to building interdependance. Anything that pushes players away from the Heavy-Rexo cookie-cutter template is GREAT.

@tdlob1 I agree sounds like he got Mass Effect 2 confused with PS. The characters where not the problem with PS. The problem was a lack of things to do in the game. Non stop attacking bases with close corridors was frustrating at times and boring at other time. We need more open would battles less base battles. I want to see points to take like a mines and oil wells. I do not want to play Planet tower defence 2.0. Which they really fucked up with classes.

@tdlob1 I think he's referring more to the current Planetside 1 gameplay which with the Battle Ranks being what they are, you can have the necessary certs to cloak, snipe and rocket on one character. So yes, you can swap out to any of them. Whereas when BR was at 25 you may have been able to do two of those, but not all three.

@tdlob1 Actually you may not have played the game lately, but with cloak bubbles and other such you can indeed cloak, heal, snipe, and fire rockets all at the same time.

@tdlob1 Apparently you never played PS1. The cloaker cannot carry a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher. You can stash weapons in the trunk of a vehicles but what he said was true.
