Why should I walk if I can drive?If I want to go somewhere faster its my choice,even if it costs me my money.

Dell linux distros are made for that machine and do not have incompatibility issues.

So dell sells the computer at the same cost as if it had windows and makes that much more profit.

ubuntu is cool but linux mint which is built off of ubuntu has all the gstreamers codec, java,flash, installed and thing just work better for some reason

you can only run windows programs by installing a program called Wine so you can run windows programs in Linux.

And quite a few Mac programs have Linux versions simply because both Linux and Mac are related to UNIX

wine is becoming really good in some case some windows program are now benchmarking better on wine than direct on windows. Ironic is in it!

I haven't had a Windows install in two years.

Simply don't need it.

I play games too... Spore, COD4, TF2, CSS, WoW... The usual.

Why pay for something that doesn't do what I don't want it to? Why buy Windows?

(also, don't bother with Cedega or Crossover - Wine is the base of both of them and is generally better than both of them)

this video is a lie. i'm using xubuntu right now and my screen freezes, and firefox is real slow. i can even get a dvd to play on this system. :(

check to see if your dvd player is installed with proper cable

it it using a cdrom cable that is the problem.....

well, you cant play ALL games but probably most of them with "crossover games" or "cedega" ($60, not much)

don't spend money on windows or virus scanners. Try ubuntu with Gnome or KDE as desktop environment

msn, email, web, mp 3 player, open office (to save or open .doc files or also .pps for powerpoint. everything is free just try it.

I'm using Freespire. I find Linux very easy to use and I encourage folks to give it a spin. Kudos to Dell for standing up to Microsoft and doing this.

Hey Dont get me wrong Windows Vista is great for the $200-$600.00 versions that you pay but you can get the same thing if not better for free by using ubuntu.

I can even still use windows programs and games on ubuntu. Now what would you rather have?

I'm using Ubuntu myself for working with documents, surfing the web, checking my email, instant messaging and a whole lot more. I have to admit so easy and I don't ever have to worry about any viruses, spyware or malware. And the software is all free. Heh, what's not to like here!
