True,NZ is a young country ( about 200+ ) but we had a whaling industry and stopped in the 50's as we did notice number dwindling.But we didnt travel fucking near halfway around the world to go get them because we had wiped our own local source out.But I forgot to add,Japan only really started getting serious about it back in the 1600's (the odd ship and small boat) like every other country.
