@argo987 i havent seen a stock fusion run lower than 15s but even so a low 14 sec quarter mile for a ms3 is with an average driver and condition. people have ran high 13s @ 100 mph, thats a full second and almost a 10 mph differece in trap speeds which is quite a bit. you have to keep in mind trap speed. it takes a ms3 about 14s to reach a 100mph but it will take about 19s for a fusion to. im not trying to rip on the fusion im just sayin they are not in the same performance range

One reason why the speed3 is faster than the RX8-- Better engine in the 3 PLUS turbo..far more capable of being pushed with its steel forged internals. The rx8's engine, although a modern marvel, doesn't hold up well to much; this includes blown engines, oil leaks, etc, etc, etc... Mazda made the right choice when it decided to make the speed3 its fastest car. Don't overload the speed3 with upgrades, & it remains a HIGHLY reliable DD that will smoke plenty of cars, easily.

LOL reflash the computer with hypertech and you will have all that power restored after 5500 rpms, right thru redline. EASY FIX. Plus, the computer removes all boost restrictions on 1st and 2nd gear; This car is VERY tuneable and can be built up to destroy many far more expensive vehicles.

Mazda 3 is a nice little car....for girls. Me and my girlfriend rent one sometimes. I like it. Of all the cars in its class I find it to be the best. shifting way too high try 5200 rpms your cars making like 20 hp at 6500 rpms. your max torque is at about 3200rpm max hp is at 5200 shift at 5500 next time.

Torque is about 280 ft-lbs @ about 3200 RPM and just over 250 ft-lbs @ 5200, then drops just like the HP. The engine makes about 20HP @ 1100 RPM.

Think about it theres a few reasons. 1: Acceleration in a lower gear is faster. 2: When you change @ 7000 rpm in the next gear rpms would be 5000, if you change at 6500 in the next gear rpms would be 4500. Obviously the higher you are in the rev range the more power you make. 5000 > 4500
