They played this at my, Grandfathers funeral, he served in WW2. They gave him a 21 gun Salute with M1 Garands, He told me about the M1 Carbines they had, and some of his fellow frog men shaved the firing pin down just a little and it would fire 15 rounds faster than you could blink!
I have played this call only once in my life, at the funeral of a fellow soldier. Every time i hear this coming out of a cemetery, i know another brave man/woman has payed the ultimate price.
I challenge anyone who reads this to, whenever you hear this, take your hat off and show the proper respect to the one who is being laid to rest. Freedom isn't free, and someday, it might be someone you know in that flag-shrouded casket.
I live in the United States of America. The individual who installs solar panels must be ashamed of his nation, otherwise he would have mentioned it proudly, as I did. I will compare my quality of life with any other nation period. Junior, I have respect for people who respect me. It's a give & take thing. For those who disrespect, they get a sock in the neck. This advise will do you good in life's journey. Otherwise. I see nothing but conflict for you.

@MrRoflcopter15 It's whatever a person chooses it to be, if you can find me the original artist, and the paper he wrote it on, I will gladly take my statement back. Let musicians do what musicians do best...make music.
@aaronaaron87 The united States military has a very specific way they play taps. It is common for "artists" to take their own liberties with the tune. However the official way, and the only way currently accepted by the military and at military services, is straight 8ths in that section. Playing it another way would be like wring that Star Spangled Banner in the key of D. You just dont do it. The only acceptable keys are Bb and F.
Fading light dims the sight And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright From afar drawing nigh, Falls the night. Day is done, gone the sun From the lakes, from the hills, from the skies All is well, safely rest; God is nigh. Then goodnight, peaceful night; Till the light of the dawn shineth bright. God is near, do not fear, Friend, goodnight.
To the US Army,Navy,Airforce, and Coast Gurad, and to all Active andNonActive men and women. Thank you, and i plan to join your ranks after collage.. Ooo Ra!!
Going to military camp/seriously considering a few years in the army, I am astounded by the sheer power this music pulls from deep within your soul. And this is coming from a child.
we stand at attention 2 honor the brave soldiers that lost their lives 2 keep our country free may they rest in peace knowing they gave their lives 4 their country (salute)
this song had to be the hardest part of my dad's funeral July 1st. his death was so sudden and it is a night i will never forget and cannot get out of my head for so many reasons. He was in the Air Force and after being honorably discharged spent the rest of his life building military aircraft. I miss you so much daddy! i'll miss you so much at graduation! RIP
Taps is the bugle call that signifies the end of the soldier's day. Time for bed. It is played at graveside for the same reason, it is the end for a soldier, time for rest. Just a longer period. No disrespect there, but it will be a longer rest.
When they played this at my great grandfather's funeral my entire family just lost it. My aunts, my brothers and sisters, my cousins, mostly everyone. He fought at Okinawa and enlisted at 17. He served on the USS Colorado (BB-45). He died of Small Cell Cancer on Thursday August 4th at 10:08 AM. He turned 84 on June 27th.
My heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones recently. May the know that their loved ones will never be forgotten. Thank You to the Men and Women serving and risking their lives everyday for us. God be with you and to the families of Seal Team 6 and the other that died with them. May they rest in peace. 08/05/2011 OORAH/HOOAH/HOOYAH.
31 lost, 31 unwanted visits, 31 doors receive that dreaded knock, 31 families with shattered hearts, 31 pairs of boots lined up with rifles and dogtags and helmets, 31 comrades remembered and grieved for, 31 funeral services, 31 names on newly made grave markers, 31 empty places at the table, 31 souls who gave all and who leave a void, so let's take 31 seconds to repost this and pray for those families

My grandpaw was in WWII and was very proud of his service in the US Army. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. RIP Grandpaw.

Going to military camp/seriously considering a few years in the army, I am astounded by the sheer power this music pulls from deep within your soul. And this is coming from a child.

I hear this... and while it's supposed to be sort of sad, all I can focus on is how it's played with the notes of an arpeggio and NOTHING ELSE.

this song had to be the hardest part of my dad's funeral July 1st. his death was so sudden and it is a night i will never forget and cannot get out of my head for so many reasons.
