  • this song reminds me to take my depression meds.

  • @misheel555 honestly, there are just some people that love to suffer. The people that refuse to look past hardships fall under that description. I listen to this, and instead of pain, I feel peace, knowing that my hardships are behind me, and that the coming hardships will one day be behind me as well.

  • Our accompanist in Ballet II plays this sometimes with a movement exercise. I love this song. So beautiful and perfect for ballet.

  • this musique is very simple but truly expressive and intence. avec de subtiles nuances dans l'intencité il y a une forme d'indolance melancolique ....avec deux accords seulement pour la main gauche je crois

50% Are crying when they hear this, about when they get divorced, losing someone

This is what its like to them... But some people don't undertsnad and they think life is happy

    Well it's not

  • @Misheel555 But you have to look past the unhappy times and find the light in the happy ones. No matter how much you want to be stuck on the tragedies you have to move on at some point, it may day weeks or years but you must keeping going. It's easier to fall into despare than to stand up and go on, that's why the strong ones can be so happy.

  • one word comes to mind when I hear this......certainty.

  • When I listen to this song, it makes me think of all the times I would be alone in school, riding the bus wondering to myself if my existence was a mistake, it brings back all of those depressing memories, but as the song plays on, I start to feel hope, hope that the world is a much better and beautiful place than it is now.

  • @TheBanHammer9000 damn right

  • @TheBanHammer9000 that is beautiful.

  • Question :

Why do kids love so much techno like CHUNDA CHUNDA CHUNDA. This song is making me feel so elegant and light. I love the song. PS im 14 years old!! :O

  • @best0gamer0of0all I hear you man, though some techno and stuff like that can be good at times, its songs like these that catch my attention. 13yrs

  • @best0gamer0of0all each to their own. i like this and a variety of other music. age 20

  • @best0gamer0of0all i agree!! dubstep and whatnot is great at times, but this is real art. its great to just relax and let it calm you.. 15yrs

  • @best0gamer0of0all LoL chunda? I love all genres, from Classical to "techno" which you probably mean House music.

  • Love it love it love it love it

  • Woow Sooooooo relaxing

  • dulce.....

  • i just want to play this song over and over and over and over again ...it's just that beautiful. <3 thanks for posting.

  • When I discovered Satie during my music lit class, I nearly fell over. Waaaaaay ahead of his time...amazing. France arguably outdid the world during this era, but maybe I'm biased :-)

  • finally I found it !!! I really love it...

  • Anything I would put here would belie the beauty of this composition.

  • @iamwalkingthec0w Paul Collier also made some nice stuff.

  • @ameesdotme thank you : )

  • @iamwalkingthec0w what abaut yann tiersen. you would love it

  • Anybody else have any other suggestions? I know nothing about classical music other than the ultra famous beethoven and mozart, chopin type stuff

I like the piano sound like Satie's a lot so anything with that piano sound would be good, but I want stuff that sounds melancholic, sparce, empty, sad. I hope you understand what I mean, any guidance would be gratefully accepted.

  • love it but its a lil slow

  • Sometimes the simplest songs are the most powerful.

  • @fantacist very true

  • I hold my hands up and say that other than a few Beethoven tunes I'm not into classical at all. However I REALLY like this piece and the following 2 parts. I like how lonely it sounds, could any of you guys give me maybe a little list of composers who sound like this guy? would appreciate muchly

  • @iamwalkingthec0w Each composer has his own unique style and expression, but I think you would also enjoy Claude Debussy's works, another French composer. Many of his works has a bit of that melancholy but they sound extremely beautiful and delicate. He is certainly one of the composers that I Iike most.

  • @LeozinXD Thank you, I will check him out

  • And he's french ! *proud*

  • This is absolutely amazing

  • When I heard this song compiled with the particular scene with kyon and yuki in the Disappearance, I couldn't help but feel a bit.. sad. You know? Because it really shows how the story (the anime series is very bubbly and there are NO depressing scenes) can take an emotional turn and make you see the entire series and the characters in a whole new light. Very beautiful piece indeed!

  • I have no idea why, but the picture kinda freaks me out. But I love the song though!

  • Comment removed

  • the beginning is like pictures of you by the last goodnight

  • @Glibzer Ha, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that!

  • always been my favorite.

  • This song just gets to the deepest place of my heart. Its very sad and at the same time, it isnt. A pretty odd feeling comes to me when I hear this, I can't describe it.

  • Amazing

  • i love this piece. omg.

  • I feel so stupid right now because I always thought that this was written by Debussy!

  • My mother used to make me listen to this when I was just a baby. I couldn't be more thankful.

  • beautiful

  • I'm learning to play this song. :) So excited I love it so much!

  • @lindsaypaige100 View my channel for my version. Comment on my video and and I will send you a link to the sheet music. Good luck learning it! :)

  • This music is amazing, brings back many memories, also it's played in two of my favorite games: Persona 2 and Mother 3. :D

  • J'adore la simplicité , la tristesse de ce morceau ; cela m'apaise. Il faut se contenter de choses simples

  • How do you pronounce the name of this song?

  • i was looking for this song and as i remember it was alot faster, are there any faster version ?

  • BOMB !

  • I just wonder who looked up some 100 year old piece of music and disliked it.... facebook style...

  • Another Woman Woody Allen

  • im a dubstep fan but this is so RELAXING :) makes you think about stuff what you never knew what was on your mind .

  • Does anyone know if this was used in kingdom hearts?

  • @Sarah24862 I think you're thinking of "Dearly Beloved" or something

  • @donshont Ohh yeah you're probably right. (:

  • @Sarah24862 it was remade for that yes

  • @invisibalkid1 the link is on the right titled "most beautiful song in the world" which it isn't better than this version, but yes, it was there.

  • My Dinner With Andre!

  • The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya! :D

  • @Jl33soawesome Come on, spare us with this manga BS.

  • @somalnicht Well, I didn't get this song from the manga. Hell, I never even read the manga. I was referring to the animated film "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya"

Now before you go on and call me an anime fanboy, I'll assure you I'm not. Frankly, I HATE Naruto, One Piece, Bleach etc. Personally, I wish you would watch this film before making such judgments. The film, pieced together with its plot, characters, and soundtrack is what moved me, hence my reference. You oughta watch it.

  • @Jl33soawesome yep, the movie is good, the series is good, and the whole anime is good. one reason that I love this anime is different from the other ones. so many twists, then one day, everything will change, i had difficulty understanding the plot. not so much action, not to much love, it has the perfect balance of everything, and its totally unpredictable, you can't determine what will come next.

  • @fateofdoom It's just a shame I didn't find about this movie BEFORE Christmas, but managed to on New Years Eve. It was so beautiful. To be honest, it brought tears to my eyes, especially at how they utilized Satie's music so well in combination with that particular scene between Kyon and Yuki on top of the rooftop. The series itself is so different in regards to humor. This movie was, in fact, the most serious episode, and the most sad. I hope they make more! TMoHS has SO much potential.

  • @Jl33soawesome I agree! It was a very well done movie. I would really like to see where they take the series, though, and if they'll make more. I would think they would, considering its popularity...

  • @JaKTheatre Yes, I've heard that too. However, Haruhi's voice actor was plagued with controversy regarding a sex scandal, as well as a benign tumor that gave her slight symptoms. KyoAni (KyotoAnimation) has not revealed any plans for BROADCASTING a third season according to a Haruhi news site, but did not deny MAKING one. So.. as for now, I don't think there'll be a third season FOR NOW, unfortunately, but I really do hope they understand the fans that will support them.

  • @fateofdoom Yes, it was pretty hard to understand some of the parts. For me, I usually get confused in fiction where time traveling happens :P

  • @somalnicht

    Rude and unneeded comment. :U

  • @Jl33soawesome

    Yeah!!

  • this music + sad moment in any movie = the greatest moment in the history of movies

    btw, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  • bel canto

  • People say it so much that it's lost all meaning, but the 46 people who disliked this video need to get their fucking brains scanned for cancer or something.

  • @JustFapped

This only prove something that I already knew, some people really just make youtube accounts to dislike every video they can find, go look at other amazing musics around here like the other Gymnopedie, that other video have dislikes too, I don't even get mad anymore, it's useless, those people don't give a damn, they just do it "for the lulz". ¬¬"

  • the melody reminds me a chill-out song with female vocal. I am desparetely trying to remember the name of it, but I cant.

  • @ThirdWaveLenght I've just found this song and I feel the same bro DESPARETELY trying to remember that chill-out version! Keep up searching!

  • @Microfunnn

Look for 'Natasha Marsh', she did that version you're looking for.

  • @ThirdWaveLenght

The name of the lady is Natasha Marsh, she did a amazing version of this beautiful music.

  • Amazing

  • These lyrics are so deep. :P

  • This is simply one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created.

  • This + rainymood :D
