I think that by the time this came out, most gamers had already moved on to the 16bit age whether it be genesis, super nes, or tg16....megaman 6 may not have been the best mega man, but I don't think too many people noticed....(the last megaman game I played when I was a kid was #3
The problem with MM 6 was also its release. I had a Super Nintendo when it came out and no longer was investing in my Nintendo, and they go and release this on Nintendo...what were they thinking!?!?
although character design for this game came from input outside Japan.... Capcom still made this game but decided not to publish it in north america due to the declining popularity of the nes. It is this reason why nintendo of america Publshed this game (but it was still made by capcom)
Lookin back i think capcom was mocking themselves as they knew you were gonna find out mr x was wily so they put it in just for a laugh similar to mm9s terribly awesome boss names.
Good point: Megaman has definitely set its own standard. Any Megaman game is leagues ahead of many that I like, yet can be junk compared to another, superior Megaman game. Isn't that human to take good for granted and strive/yearn for better (depending on your position.)
Another good review. Although I don't exactly agree with it (after all, MM6 is my favorite), I can see your complaints as far more valid than other people saying "Any MM game that isn't 1-3 sucks just cuz". All in all, you've earned a subscription form me. Keep up the good work. =D
Imho this one is my favorite of the series. The soundtrack was excellent and the graphics were cool like tomahawkman sunset bg. Story was bad for the most part tho. The tournament was original tho.
This game is really an undiscovered gem. Messing around with the hover suit is a blast and the ability to go multiple paths on a stage is really incredible. MM5 is the boring IMHO.
This game wasn't bad to really play but the story was hilariously bad. That never was a big focus of the games but the fact that they didn't even try here was a disappointment. I love the part where Wily just throws off the Professor X costume and Mega Man jumps back like he is surprised. This does have one of the hardest end bosses of any of the Mega Man original series though.
Stupid stupid idea with the "fake" bosses for four of the levels.
This game brings back some fond memories of my childhood. Although not entirely original, I would rate this installment in the series as my 3rd favourite after Mega Man 2 and 5 respectively.
Personally, Megaman 6 is my fav, followed by 2 and 3. The levels aren't frustratingly "impossible", the bosses I thought were good, and most importantly (for me), the music was great. Now, don't get me wrong, the music in many, if not all the megaman games are great, however, there are always a few lvls in the megaman games where I feel the music just isn't that good.
-- Though the game overall may lack a certain creativity level, it still is a solid game. Many of the other Megaman games have extremely frustrating levels-- Megaman 2 with the Wily Stages I find to have a tendency to be extremely difficult if u don't get it right on the first try and Megaman 9, unless you've played megaman a lot, ur gonna die 100 times over. Megaman 6 had a good balance of difficulty to make it fun to play anytime.

neverchris, did you feel MM6 was the worst Mega Man game of the 1-9? For me it's a tough call, because MM1 was painfully boreing, but MM6 just doesn't grab my attention at all.
not too far off. MM2 & 5 are my most remembered and so those are my favorites.
This guy is right with this review. If it was the first in the Megaman series it'd be a great game but there's no reason a video game sequel would not be better than previous installments. This is just a cheap half-assed cookie cutter release from a company that had better things on the horizon like MMX for one.
It just seems like Capcom TRIED to fuck this game up. They used the most disgusting colors and uninspired enemies they could think of. I just feel guilty playing, like I should be doing something better with my time. I seriously don'y understand people who say that it's better than 4 or 5.
I'm not sure how this is the worst when every idea I presented is 100% true because it's all based on what my opinions are. Not to mention the fact that 6 is probably the least enjoyed of the original series.
What makes you think I suck at this game or any for that matter?
Also, this is a review and the storyline is the lamest yet. A terrible premise deserves to be pointed out and regards to the Mega Man storyline, many people care a ton about it.
That didn't make any sense whatsoever. Why don't you stop treating your opinions as if they were fact, because believe it or not, those are two different things.
And you suck at it because it's obvious that you're getting hit by enemies (no further explanation needed).
Yet again, who gives two shits about the storyline? Take Super Mario Bros. for example; it just drops you off right at the beginning of the game, but that doesn't make it a bad game. The SNES is a different story.
I would think that showing footage of the game by someone who has completely mastered it would be very misleading. Instead of trying to pick clips where I show off, I show how the game will look for most people when they go to play it.
SMB is a bad example. Princess is captured by an evil dragon and it's up to you to save her. Simple yet it works. MM6 on the other hand goes out of its way to deliver a very stupid and useless premise.
While still a good game, I too felt that 6 was lacking compared to the other games. It was kinda dull, had unimpressive music and stages, and the robot masters were by far the worst selection out of all the Mega Man games. On the plus side the game was pretty easy overall so it doesn't take long to blow through the whole game before you get too bored.
Unimpressive music? The Dr. X levels had an amazing theme. And the final Wiley stages had very sad yet moving music that made you think "man..this is the final nes Mega Man game..how depressing." listen to them and you'll see what i mean.
Really? Really? A 7/10? Come on man, you were bashing the game right down to the pits of hell not really giving a positive thing about it. This game is a 4/10 because of it reapeated story like 4 and 5, bad robot masters, bland music, similiar weapons from 5 and not a good story about Mr. X.
The only thing positive about this game was the end, when you had to face Wily three times in a row instead of the two times like so many mega man games.
While 4-6 weren't quite as fantastic as 2 or 3, you have to admit that things went quickly downhill after the first few Mega Man X games. Thank GOD for Mega Man 9, though!
I understand that but it's pretty much all you take a look at, if we've already played the game I'm sure we've made an assumption of how good or bad it was already... just saying
I know I'm the minority here, but MM6 is actually one of my favorite classic Mega Man games largely because of the multiple armors; even if everything else was somewhat unmemorable, I found those to be fun to use. Even so, I'd have to put it below MM1 & MM3, but it's above everything else. Yes, that includes MM2, which I'm actually not that huge a fan of.
The Problem is the game selling very poorly especially Maverick Hunter X do not want to remake series again because it were trig ear the entire X story series.
Well, I didn't play this game until the Anniversary Collection, but I have to say it is one of my more favorite Mega Man games. Though 2 will always be considered the best out of the classic series in the eyes of the majority (including myself), I actually like 6 more than 3, especially since I don't considered Mega Man 3 one of the better games out there, though it is still fun.

Wow, this has got to be the worst review of Mega Man 6 yet. And I've seen a lot.
As far as the Mega Man NES series goes, this one's better than at least the original and 4.
To me, every Mega Man game has something new to bring to the table, 6 is no exception. I don't know why you keep whining that it's too much like 5.
Maybe if you didn't suck at playing it so much, you'd see what I mean.
And I pity you for taking the plot of an NES game that seriously. That just proves you're an idiot.
