The Charlatans (UK), broke through in early nineties helping to form the "then nineties Manchester sound" with other groups like Happy Mondays and Stone Roses. I highly recommend you check out their first album. Great Stuff

It's not deliberately racist but it brings to mind a lot of stereotypes used in movies and shows from the past.

There are the asian males portrayed as a corrupt triad members bullying their women, asian women shown being oppressed by old-fashioned chauvinistic asian males, and then we have the white man standing as a symbol of freedom, liberating the woman from her oppressors.

Again, probably not the intentions of the director(s), but at the same time very cliched.

i never thought there was racist implication in the video. Nontheless, this video just sucks. It's painfully bad, and I really cannot watch it.  I see they (or just the record company) were trying so hard to change the band's image or push them in the middle of the trendy American music scene.
