I need a cajon that will give me a simple bass/snare/hat capabilities. I am looking for one to fill in as a drum kit when we do acoustic songs. Drums are just far too loud. But there seem to be lots of types of Cajons. Help?
You can buy this model between £72 & £100 United Kingdom Money,The cheapest is Thomann in Germany,You will find their website putting Thomann in a search,I cant put a link as youtube blocks your comment if a web address is included!
most meinl cajons are just bad. the quallity is poor the price is to high. i checked a few and most of them had a poor quality. i prefer schlagwerk, pepote or duende. the price is about the same and the quality is much better. and for sure the sound too.
i bought it the other day but it sounds crappy compared to this one. Its my first cajon so perhaps i just dont know how to tune it correctly (which is true)
but still...i messed with the strings and whatnot...still no luck...anyone have advice?
Hi There,Just do what SLOWBURN420 says above or put some folder bits of kitchen roll between the strings & the back of the front plate,I put 2 bits at top & 2 bits at bottom & it made my practice cajon sound great & it took away any "After Buzz"!
My practice cajon is a Meinl Headliner & my gigging cajon is a Meinl Snare with drum snare inside instead of strings,It's Superb!
hey thanks! I'll have to give it a try. I was playing with it today actually and it doesnt sound too bad anymore...it could have been that I was/still am kinda new to the cajon and was getting used to it? who knows. Thanks a lot for the help!
@CajonCraig Hey man, I had the same problem and i tried the thing with kitchen roll, it worked pretty good but it left it with a pretty damp sound and almost without any snaring, do you have any more tips of what to do? Peace!
I'm about to take mine back, the adjustment of the sizzle is WORTHLESS. If its tight the string twangs like an out of tune guitar and if its loose is just a long annoying rattle.
I'm thinking there is a really nice mice somewhere in this taping and some editing done.
i just picked up one of these this afternoon. However i doesnt have much of a snare sound like this does. its the same model but... its more of a rattle than it is snareish.
i adjusted the string tension and no matter where i put it it is either bad or worse. i get alot of noise from the strings too.
does anyone have tuning tips or know what my problem is??

just put a little bit of duck tape on the strings, that will eliminate the rattle... just mess with it . you can get a very decent sound
