They have to have permission in writing and approved by the school to be let off at a different stop. If this bus driver would have let this girl off and say she really was kidnapped, then the bus driver would be prosecuted. The school bus is an extension of school, so therefore school is not over for kids who ride the bus until they are off at their stop.

In Canada School Busses only go up to Elementary School, at Middle school they stop.So for the School that i went to, it went from Kindergarten to Grade 5 and from there on you either take Transit, walk or your parents drive you.

@MelCash0306 I agree with the fact that the kids are not allowed to get off of the bus whereever they please, that is definitely a law and a good one, but the fact that the bus driver pulled the bus over just to get on to this girl thats riding on the bus talking quietly is unnecessary, and she was the first one to place her hands on the student, so why is the student the one being charged. That is what I want to know. The bus drivers daughter attacked her as well I dont get it.

The bus driver didn't let her get off the bus and the bus driver kept throwing her phone when her mom was trying to talk to her. The bus driver punched the girl first and then when they really started fighting the bus driver kept hitting that girl and then the other girl that came from the middle of the bus was yelling get off my mom and hitting her too, getting the third girl involved and the other boy. It's the bus driver and her shitty families fault. Not the girl thats facing charges.

In Arizona under state law a student under the age of 18 is a ward of the state while in school, this is why a student can be arrested for truancy.
There is no question whatsoever that the driver was trying to maintain order and the DA has made that clear.
The 3 students are under suspension.
The police officer who wanted to charge the driver has failed state testing for law and the DA has recommended that she have her commission revoked.
juvenile law is a bit different.

@arabhacks If you watched the whole video you can see the bus driver touching the girl and hitting her. It was completely uncalled for. The girl was just talking on her phone not even loudly at all and the bus driver got all pissy about it. There was no reason for the driver act the way she did.

OK, the video clearly shows the bus driver is in the drivers area.
The girl is seen throwing punches at the driver.
There is no evidence that the driver punched anyone, or got out of the drivers area.
I have to agree with the DA, charge the girl, juvie record, leave the driver.
The girl can have it expunged after 2 years after the last offense, and over 18, so no biggie.

@Arabhacks watch the full surveillance video. it shows the teen trying to get off the bus but the bus driver did not let her. The bus driver did not have any right to put her hands on the teen as the teen was trying to get off the bus. Also here in Canada, if you were to restrict a person from exiting or holding them without a valid reason then you will be charged with kidnap.

Maybe within her right to "restrain a student" but assult and damage her property? No. Girl should have deffinatly sat down and shut up, bus driver should have just stood in her way until the police came, school system should have fired her because in the long version of this video the driver did hit/push the girl a few times. Police should have charged all 3 of them. Maybe a little quality training is in order for the driver.

@thds699 So apparently you didn't watch the long version, where the bus driver puts her hands on, pushes and hits the girl 5 minutes before this video on AP even starts. Google the actual story. The girl even called her mom and tried to hand the phone to the bus driver to talk to her and the driver took the phone and threw it on the floor of the bus. The student reached for her phone and got put in a headlock. Have fun riding your bus.
