  • lolz! I suppose I watch wayyy too much american tv if I know more american slang than hugh laurie who lives and works in america... oh the shameee

(no but really, who doesn't know shawty?)

  • I've heard of all the British ones (I'm british) and 2 of the american ones.

  • im english and iv never herd of the chin wagging thing

  • @fagnello really? :O that really does surprise me tbh, i heard it all the time growing up haha

  • @fagnello I am American, but spent 10 years in Australia, and we used it all the time there.

  • @fagnello Kind of thing ur granny says

  • Ba- Donk- A Donk ---- Stereo types song by Ray William Johnson!!

  • whats with all the hip-hop slang? i do not use any of those slang words.

  • "Flossing", aside from what one does after one brushes one's teeth, threw me for a loop. The others I was a aware of, though I may not use them personally.

  • I have never heard a single word of all that American slang. Now, the British slang, on the other hand, appears in my everyday vocabulary.

  • flossing..hmmm...if you've ever heard of the song flossin' by mike jones then it would make sense but the song is stupid.."I stay flossin' in that candy paint, rolling dank, sippin drank on 84 swang, tearin' up the lane, TEARIN' UP THE LANE , YEA!!" lol

  • i never heard of flossing...I'm not American? damn

  • In Finland we have a word based on this: "Flossaus." :D It's weird that some Americans don't know the word but we in the tiny lil' Finland have a slang word based on it. I guess it's really from strong slang.

  • I'm proud to be British XD

  • The flossing bit was a joke, poking fun at british dental hygiene, implying Hugh Laurie is british and therefore doesn't know what flossing is. It's a very old stereotype and he was probably just playing along, and all of you americans that didn't catch that made me lol.

  • I knew most of them except for flossing....and I'm American.....

  • @123wickedsweet same here lol who says that??? hahaha

  • So why all the african american slang?

  • @Fast20v This isn't african american slang.

  • I don't even know any of those, I FEEL SO UN-AMERICAN! =)

  • this is why the rest of the world thinks us americans are such fucktards because we say stupid shit like flossing and think it's cool

  • @BuddyWillis lol nobody says that

  • I'm american and never heard of "flossing" wtf stupid

  • isnt ''flaunting'', showing off?

  • @DaydreamingProdigyx3 Yeah, but that's an actual word. Flossing is just slang.

  • @c0rse Actually, 'Flossing' is a present participle. Not slang.

  • @DaydreamingProdigyx3 yes. that too

  • Hes so very attractive. :3

  • Haha this is hilarious

  • american born and bred but somehow I knew all the British and absolutely none of the american... I am strange.

  • @DontFeedTheSquirrels Thats probably because all of the "american slang" is really just "hip hop slang". The only people in america who use those words are rappers or people who are into the hip hop culture.

  • u mispronouncing the word shawty

  • Flossing? Am I just a shut in, or what?

  • ba-donka-donk hahahaha

  • she got badonkadonk from jeff dunham

  • Ohhhhh God I love Hugh Laurie... Badonkadonk.. ha

  • I knew the american slang all thanks to rap videos

  • Traduscanlo a español. O subtitulenlo please!.

  • @pimpboykd Yep!

  • @pimpboykd yep.

  • House doesn't know something??

  • i never heard his english accent i only ever see him on house with his american accent, wow he does a good american accent. and i knew all of thoose english words :D

  • Flossing? Wth is that? aha

  • super ;))) :D

  • it's kinda weird not to know what shawty means, after all he used plenty of american slang on house

  • I'm chuffed to bits with your ba-donka-donk, try saying that quickly.

  • Ba-donka-donk

    For instance: Honky Tonk ba-donka-donk

  • AMERICAN ACCENT????.... LOL more like ebonics.XD

  • i can';t help but feel dirty, when ellen asked hugh what flossing meant i instantly went with the dirty dirty stuff

  • who says badonk-a-donk anymore. o_o;

    it's faaaaannntastic. :D

  • I'm American and NEVER heard of this kind of Flossing before.....only the teeth kind

  • @padfootsgurl8179 try the urban dictionary website

  • @johnson6099 If I have to look it up, it's not common.

  • Flossing - I thought it meant cleaning your teeth with the dental string, but I was wrong. I guess I'm not a true American:(

  • @San45501 as slang, SLANG, don't worry I thought it was slang for thongs between an ass

  • @San45501

    You're an idiot.

  • @TheJulien44 You're an idiot for calling me an idiot when the comment you are referring to was obviously a joke.

  • I didn't know flossing OR shawty. But now I've been hearing shawty on TV and I know what it means. Thank you Ellen, for teaching me my own country's slang.

  • who know that flossing meant showing off? I sure didn't...lol

  • Notice how all the American slang she could come up with was sexual?

  • @InnuendoXP and your name is innuendo... how appropriate for you to point this out lol

  • @amxmachine

How appropriate for me to notice :3

  • I've never heard a redneck say bedonkadonk. That's total ebonics. And I use that word.

  • @wanderingintheabyss (YouTube search) say hello to Trace Adkins - Honky Tonk Badonkadonk

and my sincerest apologies for introducing you to this song/vid.......

  • How is this about accents? It's about SLANG. There's a difference.

  • @Serai3 No no, if you say "ba-donka-donk" in a British accent, British people will know exactly what you mean.

  • 2:28 asdfghjkasdljhgfdsasdfghjk

  • I didn't know what 'flossing' meant... And shawty is only used in songs. And ba-donka-donk is only used in redneck bars. So all of her questions are void. :) LOL

  • lol i love the word ba-donka-donk.

  • some of those amercan slangs are barley even used

  • bitch said it wrong

  • i would be " chuffed to bits " by ur " ba donka donk " LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
