  • Hey!!! Neil Murray à la basse!!

  • I remember seeing a vid where Vai is using Flo II.There the neck is scalloped, but maybe its something he has got recently?

  • I always wonder if Steve can play jazz fusion with extended chords and shit, as opposed to the wacky whammy bar acrobatix.

  • @verbotenco you do know who he originally toured with after leaving berkley dont you?

  • @Dazzler59 Frank Zappa is not jazz fusion. It's just 'eclectic' and 'visceral' stuff, as Steve actually stated.

  • @verbotenco so going back to you original statement of does vai know extended chords , he went to berkley , took lessons with satch and recorded the most ridiculously brilliant guitar album of the 80,s (eat em and smile) are you fucking stupid?

  • @Dazzler59 I said that whether he 'can play' fusion with extended chords, NOT whether 'he knows extended chords'. There is a big difference between 'knowing' chords (or any other music theories for that matter), and 'putting it to real-life application'. Just because one knows some exotic scales or shit, doesn't mean he or she is able to capitalize on it in a playing situation. Understand what I mean, you, Mr. Are You Fucking Stupid?

  • @verbotenco not as stupid as someone who thinks that a musician of vai,s quality couldnt play just about anything he wants to.

  • @verbotenco Guthrie Govan in his clinics when asked what the greatest guitar album is usually says "eat em and smile" and if one of the greatest guitarists of the jazz/fusion genre says that i thin you can safely say that vai has it covered.

  • @Dazzler59 i remember when eat em and smile came out ,vai raised the bar considerably .yes there was speed ,but it was the color in which he painted , imaginative creative and fresh .vai style has been copied to death and his contribution largely lost in the army of players inspired by him .he is still relevant but his greatest work is eat em and smile .even thou passion and warfare was a masterpiece.

  • @MUDSHARK111 Absolutely agree with you bud , EAT em N Smile is probably the greatest rock album of its time , the sheer depth of the guitar playing and song writing on that masterpiece is second to none , i saw Guthrie Govan do a clinic a few months back and when asked what was the greatest guitar album of all time he replied "Eat em N Smile".

  • I have white Jem7 , I love the guitar but tuning is always pain in the ass

  • it's little wing

    man ..

  • is that hey joe ??

  • yes, guthrie govan will make steve vai's intestines turn inside out

  • this is the kind of music my mind makes but my fingers can't put into action...

  • Personally i love vai and think he is one of the few gods of guitar. But he is not THE BEST. Guthrie Govan and Shawn lane are the only ones who could top him in my book.

  • he sounds kinda crappy here

  • umm.....He's not the best ever to walk the Earth......

  • This is a bad night. On the Astoria version,he play the whole solo, with hammer ons.He do have bad nights.:)

  • This is bullshit anybody can learn runs and riffs where is the heart and soul give me some of the great riff writers any day Blackmore EV even Angus..

  • i really believe what the guitaristtv said... perfect...

  • How do you start a comments argument on this!!?? Nearly everything I look at on you tube has a comments argument on it!

    Just enjoy Mr Vai!

  • @moleman1961 Welcome to the Internet, where even the most insignificant non-issue gets turned into a flamewar among zit-faced dwellers of Mom's basement :)

  • @zendakk It suprises me that most of them stop jerking to porn long enough use a keyboard! And then the spelling is dodgy! just listen to the fucking music and if you don`t like it, piss off! Its as simple as pissing!

  • jimmy hendrix -little wing

  • What is the first song he plays in the video, I know I've heard it before, I recognize the melody, but forgot the title, help anyone?

  • @kassemir late reply i realise, but is it "Little Wing"?

  • Vai can be pretty out of tune at times, with all that whammy bar tricks.

  • @ShredST He is completly out in half the song, but because it´s Steve, it´s cool

  • @carlosdlguerra I think it's rather forgiven than cool, cause yeah it's Vai.

  • @ShredST well tuning stability has been an issue since day one of tremolos. And being how rare those occasions are, i dont think anyone can really blame him or his tech.

  • I doubt our government could have done 9-11 without fucking up.

  • Terrahuman, I have indeed done my own research and there is no way that 9-11 could possibly be an "inside job" feel free to check out RkOwens channel, and Alien Enity1, for a look at reality.

  • I believe the symbol actually spells VAI.

  • It really sucks that he is a Freemason etc.: but I like the music he makes and of course his skills.

  • a freemason? lol dude i know people who say they are illuminati, that doesn't make it so....is it because he was born 6th of the 6th 1960? 666 get it...... dude, hes just an awesome guitar player, if he has ever done anything it has been to make people happy without hurting anyone else...

  • Hi! No I had no idea that he was born on that date and I have never heard of that 666 thing. But I know that he is a freemason. He uses masonic symbolism on his guitars, on his logo, on his albums and a lot more. The symbolism is so obvious if you're familiar with masonic symbolism. However all freemasons are not bad persons, many of them are unaware of the real goals of freemasonry and so on. To me, Steve Vai seems to be a really nice person and I hope that's what he is.

  • so because i have a pentagram on my guitar that means i actually worship evil or believe in it?, seriously mate, respect to you but thats not logical, did you ever consider vai was making his own style by doing what we all do and taking things we have seen before and changing them, almost all of his old logos come from an era where loads of bands had there own symbols of some sort, having a pyramid or an eye as your logo does not make you a freemason, it just means he liked the way it looked..

  • Hi no I mean the newer logos as well. You know (for example) that live show when he plays a nice three-neck ibanez? It's has a golden all-seeing eye on it. It's one of the strongest masonic symbols there is. You don't have this symbol on your guitars or on your CD's unless you have something to do with masonic symbolism, like freemasonry or other more secret societies. You're right, it could be that way, that he just like the symbol. But it just doesn't make sense to me.

  • well nirvana had a baby in water but that didnt suggest they liked drowning babies, and didnt i mention the all seeing eye in my post? i am fully aware of freemasonry and the N.W.O and things of that ilk, i also fully grasp reason and logic over superstition, i am not saying anything of freemasonry 1 way or the other but seriously, if you believe steve vai has pyramids, eyes, eyes IN pyramids, 8's and things like that because hes a freemason then you dont really follow logical thinking im afraid

  • also sorry if im sounding like a prick, i dont mean any disrespect, im just a big steve vai fan and have never heard anyone say he is probably a freemason,

  • so I must say, to me it's very logical that he is a freemason or into some occult stuff, but for others it may not be so logical.

  • the reason its not logical to MOST is because most people believe in facts and arent afraid of there own shadows, i used to be conspiracy theorist like many people i know, then i turned 22 and grew up...im not saying there may not be truth in some of it but a LOT more people know about this stuff than just you and few other people, its not the 60s, EVERYBODY has heard of illuminati, freemason, EVERYBODY

  • what facts? give me the facts? show me? mate i think that if you gain information using the internet or watching documentaries on this shit it warps your brain and you forget that most of it is as equally stupid as thinking there arent things we dont know about, if anything you read or see on the net is really true then it would never be put there for your eyes to see it, governments block access to other countries websites they dont want you to see for security EASILY so why not those as well?

  • @TerraHuman 9-11 was NOT an inside job. When you say that you demean those that lost there lives on that tragic day. Please refer to RkOwnes channel on youtibe, or AlienEnity 1's channel, to see hwo the misnamed truth movement has distorted reality, to cash in on the dead. On a side note, Steve Vai is an amazing artist, a gifted performer, and true musical visionary.

  • it was an inside job, do your own research.

the official story of 9-11 is obviously not true.

  • @TerraHuman

The reason your post got spammed,as will mine is because the majority of people are(i'll reference my name)zombies. At this point in history, even video evidence cant sway the masses, flu vaccines(lol),fluoridated water, etc.Hell, even the 911 commission stated Iraq had zero to do with 911,yet we are still there committing genocide.

Now if Vai is a freemason and/or zionist, well that would really be sad,but his music sure is magic

  • Right so here's my two cents. Are you in a band??? Do you know how much an image can effect you?? So Vai has some masonic symbols on his guitar so what those symbols look badass!!! Look at Led Zeppelin, each member had their own logo that were from(Except Page, and Plant's) some scottish or occult book but John Paul Jones and John Bonham weren't into the occult or scottish or whatever the symbols just looked cool.

  • @SoundGardenX correct me if i'm wrong, but i think Vai is Lightworker. :)

  • @SoundGardenX Hear, hear. And so what if Vai were hypothetically truly a Freemason? Their activities and influence are highly overestimated by the conspiracy theory nutcases. The funny thing is, this whole "OMG Freemason!!!" paranoia sounds just like the "OMG Baby-eating, Devil-worhipping Satanist!!!" paranoia of the 80's. Anyone remember one Al Gore's wife's antics? ;)

  • sorry. i meant to finish as, EVERYBODY has seen those symbols in 1 place or another, those types of symbols are almost as old as civilization, so why do you think because a rock guitarist thinks those symbols are cool and puts them on his guitar (also if you know anything about vai you would know he is 1 of the most eccentric guitarists alive) if you want to pick a target then go for the bush's obama, someone who actually has/had power, not the guy who has practiced 10 hours a day playing guitar

  • bet he cant kick off orange blossom special....

  • Flo with green KONX is nummber 1 !

  • wow crazy mammal

  • guitar god?
