@mkline718 - I don't think I said I was. The internet was around long before that with usenet, arpnet, etc. I got into it in the days of "St. Silicons". A place where people could ask medical students questions. Long before that when services like Comuserve and AOL were dial up @ 300 baud, I was running subscription Bulletin boards in the Cleveland area.
@mkline718 Yep! I have every intention of doing the Friday Night Chat on BlogTv. It may take a little time to arrange it all. But the intention is there.
one problem with online is if you do meet someone and like them in the old days they could be a long distance which could suck.
I have several friends that are in very happy marriages from online dating sites. Its hard to imagine anyone at this point not knowing someone that has met someone or a spouse from something that started online. The stigma of online dating and meeting is not bad anymore. The problem is still the nuts like the Craig's list killer but guys from bars can do that too.
The internet still amazes me everyday, I have met people from all over the world, that I would never have met, without the internet. I have made many many friends. I love the internet. You are so real, which is what keeps me coming back.......I love so many of your ideas, and you help make the internet interesting.
@ericsurf6 We are all basically the same. We have our trials and our triumphs. In sharing those experiences we learn from others and help others with the daily business of living. You can't really do that by hiding your stuff in a closet or creating a character. Life is Life. Hell sometimes I maybe a "really good Bad example". But even that may help someone else so they won't make the same mistakes. It's all about giving.
well said, Zen,as ever. And I am touched to be considered a friend by you - along with your many other friends, both online and offline. Your courtesy and respect
I personally love Social media.I have met some very cool people here on You Tube as well as FaceBook as well as Blog Talk Radio, people who I'd never meet around here.Only I don't turn off my friends when I am offline, either I'm thinking about my friends or I talk about my friends among family.Like I'll talk to my Dad about a friend who's dog has missing for more then 6 month's or I'll talk about my friend who's son has cancer.I think of being online like electronic pen pals.
i like you say its a fancy telephone, a tool. I totally agree with that. While most of my irl friends are complete digi-afraid i like inet and its uses and that ripped some friendships apart. So that can also be a downside. I hope they will get over their fear, because they are the last of a kind and they arent that old. (-40 year old )
Mosaic is not the beginning of the internet :)
