  • this movie is so underrated...

  • That sound in the begining was the most awful sound i ever heard.

  • HAH HD 480??? thats SD :P

  • be considered what bobjimtheawesome? or do you need me to spell it out for you?

  • Our pal resolution is not HD.

HD is resolutions of 1280x720, 1920x1080 and some other one which is higher than those two.

SD televisions in america use the 480p format and here in UK we broadcast at 576p (768x576); which here technically is classed as SD.

There's nothing else I can really say, it's a fact that 576p is SD.

  • dude do you really not understand what i'm saying? so ok your from the UK IN THE UK PAL REGION 576p is sd in america and other ntsc regions that resolution would be considered hd. its a fact. nothing i can do about it. so please don't come back with another comment about what you "think", simple put its wrong, and what i'm saying is a fact, not an opinion but fact. ok got that?

just the fact that you seem to think in technical boxes like sertain resolutions are HD(like you just said) shows you

  • America isn't the centre of everything; HD is an worldwide term so 576p is SD.

If it was considered HD in American then they must think HD is Super Hi-Vision.

  • you still don't understand. look i'll make it very simple for you. you need to look at HD not as high definition but is higher definition. higher means more then previous. ok? i really don't know how to make it simpler than that.

  • You still don't understand. 576p was used at the same time as 480p so they're both SD.

Look it up it clearly states that Standard definition is both of those and HD begins at 720p

  • You two both need to get out more.

  • Knowing about resolutions and technology has nothing to do with the amount of time we get out of the house

  • Maybe, but bickering about it on youtube is an accurate indication of how much more of it you're in need of.

  • Not really, takes less than a minute to do a post of the size we were doing. Just cause we spent like 5-10 minutes having a debate on youtube doesn't mean we don't get out enough.

  • 5-10 minutes that could be better spent than arguing about something as petty as how to classify a certain type of resolution.

Christ, I thought you were trying to be funny before but you're actually serious aren't you?

  • Most things people argue/talk about are petty in the grand scheme of things.

    I'm never serious.

  • America isn't the center of everything... they didn't teach me that in school...

  • to clarify the fact you named in you're third reply: industries as always always have the need to set industry standards, its to not confuse the consumer, you'll understand. so the industry decided ok we'll call 720p HD(for several technical reasons) and 1080p full hd. its as simple as that. and to be fare they technically both comply with the definition of HD. but so does 719p and 718p and in countries were the previous definition was 480p even 567p is technically hd.

  • I really don't class either as HD; I don't see how they'd even technically fall into HD; please expand on that point?

2160p should be full HD, Just wait another 10 years and me and you will be having a debate about if 1080p is Super HD or not...

For me when I view something in 576p and then watch it back in HD like for Oldboy example which I have on DVD which displays as 576p on my TV and then the blu-ray at 1080p24fps it looks a hell of a lot better....

  • you can instantly see the difference. Where as when you look at something in 576p and compare it to 480p there isn't much difference because both are just SD. I think the term HD will always evolve; as the resolutions get bigger the resolutions that we regard as HD will change unless of course they do go ahead and call the next step up super HD. Which is a stupid name.

  • Super Hi-vision even...

And I just slipped "hypothesis" in there because that was in fact a quote from a Flight Of The Conchords song and I like to slip in as many quotes into random replies as possible. It's a fun game to play.

  • you really don't understand do you? nobody cares about how YOU class it or what you "feel"should be considered HD. this is about the definition of the acronym HD! it seems you're unable each time to comprehend what i'm saying so for the last time i will explain the definition of HD(actually means in more correct way higher definition). ANY resolution higher than the previous standard is considered hd(source wikipedia!!!!) so if your ntsc resolution is 480 the pal resolution would by definition

  • that is one of the kids who played in the movie "EDEN LAKE"

  • 480 p is about the ntsc resolution, so the normal american resoluton, 576p so everything abave 576 is HD this abviously is not

  • no, i believe 720 is HD

  • well i know for a fact soooo...:P

  • With doubled temporal resolution, 576p50 is considered enhanced-definition television (EDTV). In some countries, such as Australia, the 576p resolution standard is technically considered High Definition and was in use by the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS TV) and was previously used by the Seven Network, which has recently begun 1080i broadcasts.

what was off wikipedia, so in some countries it is HD some countries ED

  • whatever dude first you say this than you say that. lets change the definition to anything higher than the previous standard resolution. okay?

oo real progress you're showing there, now you're actually able to look up the facts on wikipedia!

  • jesus chill hahaha

  • Being a director and having an HD camera myself I know that 720 is the lowest HD resolution. 576p is still SD hence why my DVD's play in that resolution on my TV.

  • being a person who actually does some reasearch i know that technically anything that is higher than the previous standard resolution is concidered HD.

  • Standard definition is; 480i, 480p, 576p and 576i. 576p is standard PAL DVDs, which are not HD. They are not considered HD either, I don't know where you got that preposterous hypothesis from.

  • Also do you not think that I would have researched HD heavily; since it's part of the industry I am involved in and all that?

  • Triple reply. One more thing, why do I see no Blu-rays or PS3 games running at 576p then?

720p is the lowest HD resolution you can get.

  • i understand.. its real hard to use google. i strugle sometimes myself, you just need to keep in mind "google is your friend" so use it!

to clarify i got that "hypothesis"(do you even understand the definition of the word? we're actually talking about a fact here) from the preposterously incorrect site wikipedia. so you're propably right..

  • I think 480p is considered "ED" (Enchanced definition) not "HD"

  • this film looks great the only thing I saw thomas turgoose in was this is england and thats my favorite movie, so this one must be good

  • Watch this film coz im in it!

  • It's shit...
