mantras set people absolutely free over time . follow the clues. there are many good choices, each a different flavor of liberation from ............. learn about mantras. the science of setting ones self free is termed yoga.
I've always found their songs to be quite upbeat, but I guess it depends on how you look at them. Of the Room, I Don't Know, and quite a few songs on Catch Without Arms (excluding Zebra Skin or Sang Real) might be what you're looking for, but maybe the band just isn't for you.
Used to live in SF. So pissed I never got to see these guys live. But I know it will eventually happen. One of the most innovative bands of our time. With every album I buy, I find myself liking each song just as much as I did the last; if not more. That is a rear thing to find in a band. A great group of guys as well I must say!!!
I saw them at the Trocedero in Philadelphia last Saturday. They were awesome on stage and then they beers with us at the bar upstairs. Gavin screwed up the opening to this song and told the audience to boo him then he said "Good, I'll try harder next time." Love a band with a sense of humor.
this song is awesome the way its played, the problem with todays music is every band sounds like every ordinary dull band and all you hear is the guitar and nothing else, this song brings out the Bass and the sthyns which were popular in the post punk era and the seventies, Drege is original, and I love this song the way its performed, its got funk and style unlike all the dull dorky shit today! More bands should sound like this instead of all the untalented musicians getting paid today!
The most haunting, heart-wrenching, starkly powerful, indescribably beautiful song I have ever heard. It says something significant about the depth of the human soul, the emptiness of our societal constructions, and the raw, limitless magnificence of our Earth. I'll never get tired of it.
I heard this song live for the first time tonight, and it was just as perfect. dredg are one of the best bands in the history of the world!! I wish more people could appreciate them
@junkman25 I don't really like their new album, but that doesn't mean to say that dredg won't continue to make better songs such as this in their following albums.
look through Dalis work especially, "a moment before awakening" while listening to this whole album, it is an allegory of this piece of art,... also learn Japanese.
I love many forms of music but this album and especially this ending to album with this song as the anchor is the best ever. It gives me chills every single time I hear it.
I don't remember the first time I heard this song, or when I started to really like it. All I remember is a sudden thought one day of "Wow. I cannot believe how good this song is."
@thebronzebat i believe that all of dredg's albums are amazing and none of them suck. i will admit that after el cielo their music seems to not be up to their brilliant standard, but i still love all of it, and as should you if you really like them. bands change, their styles change, and true fans should accept those changes.
I feel a love sensation stream through my body when I listen to this song. All the joy and happiness you contain just hits you all at once. You just close your eyes and wonder all the other possibilities life could bring.

There are so many bands out there that have so much talent, and can create amazig music, but Dredg is the only one I've found so far that can recreate the experience of dreaming through music
i definitely give this song 5 stars as well. even with all the wonderful dredg songs to choose from, this one stays at the top. 'does anybody feel this way? does anybody feel like i do?' genius
yeah i saw dredg at the taste of choas tour with the deftones, they rocked!!! the drummer playing the drums and keyboard at the same time was killer!!
I have about 4,000 songs on my ipod. Over the course of several months, I have rated all the songs in my collection from 1-5 stars. 5 stars in my opinion is a "perfect" song. Less then 20 songs on my ipod have 5 stars.
This is one of those 5 stars songs in my library...I hope everyone listening gets the same feeling I do when I hear this song :)
@originalriv my itunes has almost 5,500 songs and The Canyon Behind Her has been played 487 times. that's just my itunes, not counting ipod plays and CDs. I totally agree.
The emotion they put into there songs, and the feelings, are real and true, and I've never felt a song more than this one especially the chorus. Its beautiful.
i fall in love with this song

But this is one of those songs that makes it so hard to stop trying to get into them.
El Cielo is their album that keeps pulling me back in. Crafty, artsy bastards.
