  • I really like your style with this layout, trains and gardening and lots of running.

    Some questions:

    1. how are the decks reinforced. I assume the decks are plywood.

    2. is everything painted to resist the weather?

    3. Do you have power wires running under the mains for the DCC to be reliable?

Very inspiring layout. I am already collecting wood for my own double oval of fun-ness with trains.

  • @traingeekboy 1 The decks are indeed plywood. They sit mainly on top of pieces of 4x2 wood planks screwed down.

2 paint is not used but the wood was originally creosoted when first installed

3 A bus wire is not used at present but I would recommend using one to anyone statring a new layout. (mine was converted to DCC but built as a DC layout, A bus wire is planned for installation in the future.

  • how is itso durable

  • Do you walk round the garden with the dynamis? Or is the infra red no good. Was looking into this but was wondering how good the signal is.

  • @littleimproadshow . I do walk round the garden with the dynamis yes but being infra red it's not always perfect. In bright sunlight you can forget it, but on a dull day or those long summer evenings it's perfect to sit in a garden chair and drive trains! On the sunny days I can get away with sheltering the receiver unit and the handset without losing contact.

  • Trees have green leaves and still it snowed?

  • @ok69severin Have you never heard of evergreen trees? ;-)

  • Truly incredible to see it being able to operate in these conditions,as I would've expected the wet snow to affect it.......Amazing stuff!

  • Hi what power unit do you use, thanks

  • Bachmann "Dynamis"

  • Good job your railways kept going despite the weather

  • Unfortunately we had another deluge of snow after Christmas which formed a thick layer of ice over the tracks. I was unable to run any trains for about a fortnight!

  • Good job the 47 has ploughs!

  • Yes indeed, I didn't notice the huge ball of snow in front of it at 1.00 until after I had filmed it. It would seem that the ploughs did the job! The line is once again under snow today (6th Jan) but the ice got a grip on the track before i could clear it off so there won't be any trains now until a thaw happens.

  • that was so cool ! ha, fruedian slip !

  • great video thanks for getting your hands cold !!!

  • Can you do a video of a tour of your layout and control room? Please?

    Cheers Nice video 5*

  • Happy Holidays !!! See ya next year.

  • Thanks for subbing to my channel. One thing i will never be able to film is my railway in snow, unless I fake it with 6 HGV's of the stuff. Although I have had Ice on the rails from a mild frost one night. A merry christmas to you and a happy new year.

  • wat happens if sbow gets inside the locomotives when it's picked up by the wheels?

  • @Tuxedo748 .. I'll give you my honest answer which is I don't know because it's never happened with any of my locos. I think this may be something to do with the fact I cleared the line down to rail height so snow was not above the wheels. The 47 with a lump of snow on the front in the video was actually caught by the miniature snow plough the loco was fitted with.

  • Nice video to finish the year. Five stars simply for getting out there in those conditions to make it possible. Looking forward to following more of your videos during the coming year. All the best mate.

  • @digest59 .. Cheers mate
