saw this guys as the opening band for another group. they had an asian bass player? ahh! can't remember who the other band was. instant fan after i saw them play first.
Oh my god such a great performance! Why doesn't grant sing like that anymore, or he doesn't seem to. He seemed to sing songs as they sounded when recorded.
@FeederGunsNRoses I've noticed that happens with a lot of singers over time. Don't forget he's like 43 (I think) and has been touring with feeder for 20 years. The schedule is bound to have an effect on your voice. On some singers it suits them and they sound better, with others it gets worse. I guess that's the way it is.
I'm 22. When I was 14 I was smoking weed to this song. lol Feeder really do make fucking awesome music, and its always the lyrics that make it, grant tops it every time
I have such fond memories of this song, polythene was my first album aged 7 - I was obviously a disturbed child, listening to ROCK haha. Then all those times in the park as a teenager playing this album over and over with my friends, GOOD TIMES!
No it's not, they play it too fast when it's live and it bugs the shit out of me. Why can't they play it the same tempo as in the recording? It ruins the feel of the song when it's too fast.
@macintologist04 Its the Adrenaline. Are you a musician? cos if you are you may understand. Its pretty hard to play a slow song when your body is so full of excitement. All bands do it.
That's some sweet set. The crowd obviously had a bless. This video and the one with Descend really make you think they were popular but they weren't well known at all back then if I am correct
Shade is Feeder's best closer imo. What a wicked live song that is. Why isn't there any live video of Shade?
Not sure why, maybe the TV channels did not think it was mainstream enough to show?, mind you BBC Three shown "Descend" from glastonbury but I don't think they ever shown the name of the song in the captions!.
Nope back then Feeder in 1997 when this was performed, they had their biggest hit when "Crash" was at #48 in the charts that very day. They were before last on the bill after Radish and were followed up Dog Eat Dog and the Descendents, Metallica were the headliners.
if they kept spewing out the same old stuff, it would get boring, but i do wish they would give the grunge 1 more shot, hopefully wiv the new album, if they find a record deal :(
I love Feeder. First saw them at the good old exposure rock cafe in brum and was completely blown away. They have always stayed true to themselves and their fans by churning out brilliant song after another. Keep up the good work Grant, you are a legend!!
Was on the barrier for the whole of Feeder and the Stereophonics sets tat Sunday. Always makes me glow when I hear this. Saw them at 06 aswell and it felt like watching a child grow up
This has to be the best version of the song I've heard. Joint top with Wembley 2003, Hammersmith 2004, Reading 2002 (that acoustic guitar just gives me shivers for starters), Leeds Met 2001 and Newport Centre 2003 :D :D :D.

reading 1996 setlist:
Waterfall
Chicken on a bone
Radiation
Sweet 16
Cement
Shade
Descend
The last 4 probably made the list in 1997 along with High and My Perfect Day. That's my guess
geertvdh90 2 years ago
Reading 97
STEREO WORLD / MY PERFECT DAY / CRASH / DESCEND / CEMENT / HIGH / SHADE
