@toklas69 LOL, I don´t know, but I am sure Moroccan food is tastier. I am glad Alia said preserved lemons could be replaced with olives. These are easier to find and they taste wonderful.
good video...not like the most unprofessionals! One thing is still not good, like all the cooking books u say ad water....ok, but how much? If u don't say how much then it can be tha thet sauce will get spoilt through lot of water!
hey can you please show how to make the me39oda especially the famous me39oda sandwich that is sold all over morocco, the 3dess and the green thing(i know i should use he name bu my arabic is getting worse with the day, y have loubya an 3des and then there is another famous dish esp used in the winter and yes it is green) ah so sorry for all the questions and comments i think i have seen every video here of y and like them all, thanks also for th responses o my other quetions:)
I made this dish last weekend and it was very yummy. I did not use an entire chicken because we're not fond of white meat. Instead, I skinned and removed the fat from about 1.5 pounds of thighs.
This was the first time I used the preserved lemons I made based on Alia's directions in another YouTube video. Though the lemon smelled a bit strange taken out of the jar, cooking mellowed it and my wife and I enjoyed eating it. The lemon also gave a wonderful flavor to the dish.

definitely, you can use olives and lemon juice. For the olives, use the green olives, and for the lemon juice use 1 tablespoon at the end (you can use less and adjust to your taste). it will be delicious!
there are more tajine recipes in my channel or at my website (cookingwithalia(dot)com).
Thank you Alia for inspiring me to cook this way. I now have a tajine and will use the preserved lemons that you showed how to do earlier for this dish. Keep up the great vids .... :)

I'm making this now, but with a twist, I'm using dried Iraqi limes, and I'm using beef instead of chicken
celticraider1 1 year ago
great! dried limes would give it a nice touch, and beef a perfect substitution! cheers :-)
cookingwithalia 1 year ago
my/your dish turned out nice, next time though I will only add 2 dried limes, the kids thought I made it too bitter, but I like it that way......
Ciao
celticraider1 1 year ago
@celticraider1 dried limes sound nasty. beef isnt usually cooked with preserved lemons either my friend.

I loooove Moroccan food, and lamb tagine is my favourite, and I can confidently say I'm quite good at cooking it!!!!
vixxy02 2 years ago
Alia, if I use an actual Tagine cooker, do I need to alter the recipe? Thanks. Ed
0emk1 2 years ago
no need to alter the recipe if you use a tagine, it'll work out fine.
if you are using a real clay tajine, check out my video "vegetable tajine berber style" it shows how to cook in a clay tajine.
hope this helps!
cheers :-)

Hey Alia!
I just cooked this recipe for my family for Memorial Day. It turned out great, if I do say so myself.
Actually, I found that adding 3 tablespoons of lemon juice adds a bit more flavor.
Nonetheless, it was delicious. Thanks for the recipe!

Thank you for the video, Ma'am.
I've been looking for a good Tajine recipe.
One question, though. If we don;t have preserved lemons, can we use both olives and lemon juice? Or does that make the tajine taste bitter?

What kind of olives would you suggest for meat dishes?
togio100 2 years ago
the green olives. you can find them in the supermarket. Actually, once I found green olives filled with pieces of lemons, that was awsome!
hope this helps!
