reminds me tons of bands of the sixties during their mid-year exams having a break and a jovial jam to get rid of the stress. without the mushrooms...thanks Bob.
since the 60's it seems american literature as a whole has actually been replaced with stephen maklmus' lyrics. "They could be its [America's] finest living writers".. it says on Pavement's website at Matador records and I believe it.

Oh Malkmus! This is the worst video you've ever had! Why oh why are you hanging round with that chubby little creature with 'man's needs' for? That Gary Jarman makes my skin crawl. Steve Coogan's character 'Keanu' in Saxondale is what instantly springs to mind every time i see him. He was leching around at the Jicks gig in Birmingham, and now I see he's engaged to the sour-faced Joanna.tut tut. Steve, keep Janet she's cool sack the other two and regain my respect!

I'd venture to say that if an unknown somebody made this song instead of Stephen, nobody would give a shit about it. It's a bad song, bad meaning entirely forgettable.

I luv Malkmus and Pavement, but this vid blew indie chunks. So unoriginal, uninteresting, and lazily thrown together. The whole idea of having "a bunch of different people lip synching along to the song" in a vid is majorly passe and LAME! Shame on you Steven Malkmus. Great song though.
muy buena musica la que proyecta este señor... poco conocido en mexico, ojala q algun dia venga a este pais para poder gozar con su gran y peculiar estilo
@bogart345 That's sad, it just took me like three minutes to get that joke, "Also, I'm sorry for using the phrase "local boy" and "Sam Adams" in the same sentence."

On the one hand, it's pretty cool of Portland mayor Sam Adams to be in the local boy's video.
On the other hand, it's been a pretty rough 6 months for ole Sam, and I'm not sure this really solves his PR issues.
Also, I'm sorry for using the phrase "local boy" and "Sam Adams" in the same sentence.
