amigo ayudame ya vi que tienes cubase y yo no tengo protools, mira el asunto es que en cubase no he podido configurar los 8 canales de la fast track ultra ¿como le hago para usar los 8 canales desde cubase? gracias Dios te bendiga
What's up dude, I'm opening a studio, and I'm looking forward to getting this m-audio box, cause It's multitrack. Problem is, I don't know how to multitrack, haha. how exactally do I do that through pro tools. I'm using windows 7.
your tracks clipped all over the place. the video was really good, i would just say check levels especially before tracking drums. not just you, but like as a rule of thumb, because typically adding plugs and stuff adds a lot more output gain to your tracks so its good to make sure you leave enough headroom for that.
Hey man you helped me a long time ago with mine and I had it working... I must've upgraded to Vista SP1 since then and everything went bonkers. The tray icon is spazzing out causing protools to not load. Did you upgrade to SP1 and have similar problems?
Do you notice any issues with it being USB 2.0 as opposed to firewire? Ive had some trouble in the past with USB not being a fast enough connection to handle things like this.
hey man i just got the fasttrack with the same set of mics along with pro tools m powered. The only issues i have is that my computer isn't picking up the mixer. It shows up on screen but it doesn't pick up what i play. Also whenever i playback something on pro tools it only goes through one speaker instead of both whereas when i bounce it onto itunes it has a mono sound when i make the track a stereo one. Any pointers for me?
Thanks man, you helped me a lot, especially the error you have shown, one more problem i am experiencing now is that the pro tool which is included in the hardware is only a demo, too bad, anyway; good luck man
I just got the Ultra 8R, and I was wondering whether you know if it's possible to use the 8 outputs with windows, so you could for example watch a dvd with 7.1 surround sound with windows media player.
how do i downgrade to 32 bit? and wouldnt that slow down my computer since 64 bit is a lot faster ...supposedly...also head i would have to clear out my entire hard drive to downgrade
can this interface be used on windows vista 64 bit?? I have been looking all over online and for a very long time and I keep seeing that m-audio came out with new drivers for vista 64 but it also says this interface is not compatible for vista 64. I would really like to get it but not if its not gonna work on my computer.
I noticed this as well it seems pretty stupid on M-Audio's part 'cos i've heard in some older or poorer quality dynamic and ribbon mics it can cause problems. Like pradigy said probably no problem at all with most but still a bit worrying.
Hey really good tutorial, i was also going to ask about latency :P good to see your running stuff on vista too coz i was a bit worried about that also, but what is your laptop in terms of processor speed and ram? and do u think theres anything else to consider in 8 input usb interfaces? because this is the only one i can find so far..thanks!
thanks! There is no latency issue with this device at all. Actually, all of the USB audio interfaces I have used have very low latency so you don't have to worry about USB audio interfaces being high latency devices.
The reason I mute the tracks while i'm recording them in Pro Tools is b/c Pro Tools will play back what I just recorded a split second later and that is distracting to singers and musicians. You can still hear what you are recording via the direct monitor mode which is realtime.
thanks for the tutorial - i've been trying to figure out the split second problem you mentioned , when I overdub. When you mute the recorded track, how do you hear what your singing? This direct monitor mode you speak of - is that what I need to enable?...thanks again...
GREAT great tutorial man, taking the time to show everyone on how this unit works is awsome! Once the audio goes thru your USB cable and into your computer, it must have to come back out thru the USB cable, back into the fast track then out to the monitors, is there and delay or latency?

I doubt you can use WMP to do that, but there may be a program to do that.
If you were using an editing software that has ASIO surround sound then I'm sure you can.

I use this unit on both Vista 32bit and 64bit. I've never had any performance problems with drivers on any M-Audio unit I've ever used.

downgade to 32-bit. dont trust any drivers, ive already returned an interface because the drivers are always really faulty.
drumzadude321 2 years ago
It works perfectly for me on Vista 64-bit. I've been using it for about a year on Vist64bit

if, lets say, i was to get the unit and have some troubles, would you mind helping me set it up?
drumzadude321 2 years ago
I'd say your best assistance would come from M-Audio's Customer Forum. They are quick and know their stuff better than anyone.
You can always leave a message for me on YouTube and I'd try to help.
What kind of questions would you ask?

Hey, i'd like to know.
i'm using 6 dynamics and 1 condenser,
will it be okay if the dynamics will get phantom power since it comes only in blocks of 4?
thanks in advance.
NuhiBeera 2 years ago
yea , I do it all the time! The phantom power won't effect the dynamic mics at all.
Pradigy2k 2 years ago
i thought so. Thanks a lot :D
I've heared some of your music,
cool style!

yo, I just got my fast track and im trying to set it up. I already installed it is but dont know how to sync with pro tools
flakho 3 years ago
You have to make sure you have the right version of Pro Tools to sync it up with. Check on M-Audio's website

This is the best 8 input Pro Tools & USB enabled audio interface.
I don't have any latency issues at all.
Vista works fine with it, plus M-Audio has great techs that can help you out.
dual core laptop AMD x2. 4 gigs of RAMS, pretty basic. The RAM doesn't really do anything for basic I/O functions only memory intense stuff.
