You've obviously never read a starwars book in your life, Darth Vader knows about force lightning and how to use it, he just can't because of his half machine body. Where are you getting this more knowlege of the force garbage from? Never in Starwars does it say that. All it says is Darth Maul can use force lighning. the end. @deityofanimee I understand that he let them escape from the death star in Hope, and from Hoth in Empire, but what about all the other times? His android components also made him stronger in some respects. The midichlorian count is a great point of course; however, he only has the highest count as far as the contemporary Jedi Council knew. Their knowledge has been shown many times to be lacking.
Perhaps powerful should be defined better. Palpatine and Revan were truly brilliant commanders and leaders. That made them quite powerful. If you mean in lightsaber combat, Revan defeated Mandalore and Malak...
@Omniculler I'm sorry but Lord Vader is more powerful than Emperor Palpatine. Vader could have destroyed him long before episode 6 but he considered Palpatine a friend. Vader was conceived by the Force, something that was never done before which made him the most powerful force sensitve person alive at the time. Later on his son Luke proved to be stronger. Leah who was Luke's twin is just as powerful as her brother but that was not shown in the movies.
@pmgpc69 Midicholrian count is only a measure of potential. This is an obvious given. If it were not true, then Force sensitives would have no reason to train at all. As much as I may like Lord Vader, he never realized his potential. Effectively the Emperor was always his superior. Anakin believed he could defeat the Emperor already in Revenge of the Sith, telling Padme that he wanted to, but he never did so because he could not.

The member further explains that Vader's injuries actually hinder that potential. Vader is also especially weak to Force Lightning because of his mechanized parts. Well, Palpatine wins.

@Omniculler Well, you have to read these debates online. Also the Star Wars expanded universe explains more in depth about the story and characters. I'm still learning myself. Emperor Palpatine knows he was the strongest wielder of the force or one of the strongest when he was still alive. He knew Luke had the potential to surpass him, but not yet. He may have just been tired of Vader and believed he could control Luke. He lusts for power so why not control someone more powerful to help him?

@Omniculler Yes, I do. During my recent readings, the Sith follow what's called The Rule of Two. This means one has the power and the other craves it (Master and Apprentice). They both know that this relationship will end with one killing the other. They just want to use each other to get what they want for the time being. Once one of them feels this is no longer needed, it ends. So I was wrong when I said Vader considers Palpatine a friend.
@pmgpc69 Vader DOES appear attached to Palpatine in the originals and this was confirmed in the prequels. Palpatine refers to him as his friend at the beginning of The Return of the Jedi.
Darth Bane instated the Rule of Two in an attempt to strengthen the Sith by cutting down on the infighting that kept them disorganized for millennia. I would argue he failed: lack of Sith numbers weakens their reach and, as you have said, infighting is remains *required* by the way of the Sith.

@pmgpc69 I'd add to what you have said that not every master and apprentice HAVE to believe their relationship should end in violence or death. Being so in tune with their emotions as their strength, some Sith were bound to develop sentiments for each other. Also, some masters were only shamed and exiled or escaped. The master could protect himself by keeping some knowledge from the apprentice who may decide he has no further use for his master if he ever believed he had learned everything.

Double the frames used in the same amount of time, and it would be decent. You say you didn't want to spend the time, but in that case, you should have made the fight shorter. If that fight was half the length with the same number of frames, it could have been passable. Greedy to have it the way it is, and the amount of dislikes reflects that.

In the first movie, the duel between Obi wan and Vader looked really bad because they didn't have the high quality plastics we have now. The light sabers kept breaking so they had to fight slow. Choreography wasn't as good as it is now either. Had the first three been made with the same level of Tech we have now, there'd be no discussion on which of the two were better. Let's face it, Maul was a punk. He was killed by Obi wan when he was a padawan. Vader would spank his ass.
The movies never really showed Vader doing everything he was capable of according to the books He can still leap great distances both in height and width and is somewhat more mobile then the films showed due the costume and no CGI type stuff that the prequels feature...same goes for the old Kenobi in New Hope if it was made in the 2000's you can bet the actor playing Kenobi would leaping and flipping around in that Death Star duel
Vader's main strength after being put into the suit is his RAW darkside assisted power he literally beats his foes down constantly backng them up unrentlessly until they're tired out physically and in the Force...this was best shown in Empire when he fought Luke....of course Mauls gymnastic style would help him alot with this but he would eventualy tire...this is where Vader's cybernetics give a edge.. his limbs do not tire physically Maul would have to disable a arm or leg to have a chance.

I think Darth Maul would have one, simply because Vader is slow as hell, while Maul moves like a freaking acrobat..... Vader's movement im sure would have never been the same after all that limb loss..... his fighting style is nothing like it would have been if he wasnt using prosthetics.... but i personally prefer Vader to Maul.... he is far more intimidating in my books.... Maul only looks scary..... Vader has the whole package.....

As much as I may like Lord Vader, he never realized his potential. Effectively the Emperor was always his superior. Anakin believed he could defeat the Emperor already in Revenge of the Sith, telling Padme that he wanted to, but he never did so because he could not.

@Omniculler Well, I've been looking at websites and there is a great debate about this. One of the members post that George Lucas says that Vader had twice the power of Palpatine. The member further explains that Vader's injuries actually hinder that potential. Vader is also especially weak to Force Lightning because of his mechanized parts. Well, Palpatine wins.

@pmgpc69 If all that about Vader's 'mechanized' 'weakness' were the case, why would the Emperor want Luke to replace Vader? Luke would not be easy to control and would become just as powerful and overthrow him.

@Omniculler Well, you have to read these debates online. Also the Star Wars expanded universe explains more in depth about the story and characters. I'm still learning myself. Emperor Palpatine knows he was the strongest wielder of the force or one of the strongest when he was still alive. He knew Luke had the potential to surpass him, but not yet. He may have just been tired of Vader and believed he could control Luke. He lusts for power so why not control someone more powerful to help him?

@Omniculler Yes, I do. During my recent readings, the Sith follow what's called The Rule of Two. This means one has the power and the other craves it (Master and Apprentice). They both know that this relationship will end with one killing the other. They just want to use each other to get what they want for the time being. Once one of them feels this is no longer needed, it ends. So I was wrong when I said Vader considers Palpatine a friend.

@pmgpc69 Vader DOES appear attached to Palpatine in the originals and this was confirmed in the prequels. Palpatine refers to him as his friend at the beginning of The Return of the Jedi.
Darth Bane instated the Rule of Two in an attempt to strengthen the Sith by cutting down on the infighting that kept them disorganized for millennia. I would argue he failed: lack of Sith numbers weakens their reach and, as you have said, infighting is remains *required* by the way of the Sith.

@Omniculler True, Vader was attached to Palpatine. But I think when it came down to turning Luke to the Dark side, Vader was kind of torn between them.

@pmgpc69 I'd add to what you have said that not every master and apprentice HAVE to believe their relationship should end in violence or death. Being so in tune with their emotions as their strength, some Sith were bound to develop sentiments for each other. Also, some masters were only shamed and exiled or escaped. The master could protect himself by keeping some knowledge from the apprentice who may decide he has no further use for his master if he ever believed he had learned everything.

Double the frames used in the same amount of time, and it would be decent. You say you didn't want to spend the time, but in that case, you should have made the fight shorter. If that fight was half the length with the same number of frames, it could have been passable. Greedy to have it the way it is, and the amount of dislikes reflects that.

In the first movie, the duel between Obi wan and Vader looked really bad because they didn't have the high quality plastics we have now. The light sabers kept breaking so they had to fight slow. Choreography wasn't as good as it is now either. Had the first three been made with the same level of Tech we have now, there'd be no discussion on which of the two were better. Let's face it, Maul was a punk. He was killed by Obi wan when he was a padawan. Vader would spank his ass.

The movies never really showed Vader doing everything he was capable of according to the books He can still leap great distances both in height and width and is somewhat more mobile then the films showed due the costume and no CGI type stuff that the prequels feature...same goes for the old Kenobi in New Hope if it was made in the 2000's you can bet the actor playing Kenobi would leaping and flipping around in that Death Star duel

Vader's main strength after being put into the suit is his RAW darkside assisted power he literally beats his foes down constantly backng them up unrentlessly until they're tired out physically and in the Force...this was best shown in Empire when he fought Luke....of course Mauls gymnastic style would help him alot with this but he would eventualy tire...this is where Vader's cybernetics give a edge.. his limbs do not tire physically Maul would have to disable a arm or leg to have a chance.

I think Darth Maul would have one, simply because Vader is slow as hell, while Maul moves like a freaking acrobat..... Vader's movement im sure would have never been the same after all that limb loss..... his fighting style is nothing like it would have been if he wasnt using prosthetics.... but i personally prefer Vader to Maul.... he is far more intimidating in my books.... Maul only looks scary..... Vader has the whole package.....
