Um, it's not the people who want that, it's the corporations making profits without ethical constraints that brings that about.
Once a nation solves its peoples' needs, what else should it do but cater to luxuries? America isn't going to give all its resources away, though we do give more in foreign aid than all other nations, but nobody remembers that, do they? No, when we're down, all you can recall is the faults of our companies.

Here is why we are doomed. Today I saw Nancy Pelosi Dem. rep from CA. Doing EXACTLY what we can expect from politicians. Asking the government to release its oil reserves to drive prices down. Only price will get anyone to conserve. But lowering costs/helping the poor pay for oil is a ticket to office. She says "Natural gas is the way to go. "It's Cheap abundant and clean unlike fossil fuels". Nobody has told her natural gas is a fossil fuel and is neither cheap abundant or "clean" it seems.
he's talking of the housing bubble 2 years before it burst for real. and it wasn't only him issuing warnings why don't people ever listen?
