I own a N55SF which is the same as yours except for the 15.6" monitor. I bought an X-Fi Surround Pro which is on its way, since I found no fathomable way to get analog 5.1 out... anyway the ALC663 chip in this laptop does support 5.1 surround. Question: with your toslink cable, can you play games with surround sound extensions (EAX) and get positional audio on your sound system?
yes it works with every format 5.1, 7.1, 2.1 :) if you have trouble with 5.1 install "k-lite codec pack" and set it on 5.1 surround. than install vlc media player and in audio you have options like digital out or spdif out or 5.1 ...one of them will play 5.1 if the movie is encoded with 5.1 (on some movies it works on some it doesnt I guess the codec is to blame :P )
Hi micinum. Planning to buy similar model like yours due to SPDIF output feature. The problem is that I couldn't find in web for maximum bitrate it can be supported. Tried to send email to Asus support center seems no response. Did you try test plug into receiver or standalone DAC, whether it able to stream up to 24 bit / 192 Khz? Thanks for replying.
I have connected it only to a receiver and the bitrate goes as much as the receiver can decode...mine supports only 44 and 48khz..but it can be set to 192khz I have that as an option in the sound settings on the laptop
hey man, i finally ended up buying the laptop.. i have one question about the sound. i feel that sound is only coming from th right side of the laptop speakers, and nothing is coming from the left. i just want to no if this is normal? does your laptop have more of its sound coming from the right??
download the "nch tone generator" play some sound from it and cover one speaker than the other. if you notice any difference than you have a problem. recommend you to uninstal the audio driver and download the new one from the asus us support driver web cite thing...
I didnt notice any difference in the loudness of each speaker on my laptop except the anoying buzzing keyboard that I will replace someday cuz it gets on my nervs. do you hear the keyboard buzzing ?
@micinum i downloaded it and tested the tone generator.. the sound is coming from the right side of the speaker and the middle of the speaker,, and to the far left of the speaker i feel that very little or no sound is coming out??? is there even a speaker to the far left side on this laptop..
can u please carefully listen to your laptop and tell me if the right side of the speakerss produces much more sound than the far left side of the speakers. i really need to no,
There are 2 speakers left and right..there is nothing in the middle. the sound is normal and it feels like it is coming from the middle, like it should. Play the tone generator then in the realteck hd audio manager under speakers you have main volume...L and R...change from L to R and hear if there is any difference between the loudness of the two. its easy...is you feel that the left speaker is out of puff contact your dealer...
@micinum i eneded up contacting asus so and also bang and olufsen to see if the laptop speaker were desighned like that on purpose for maybe better dynamics in the sound, so it can give it a more surround sound feel..
i actally have sound coming from the middle of my speakers not like u said..iam still waiting for a response from asus, hopefully its only a software problem.
and yes i can also hear a bit of buzzing, but i dont notice it cause the music seems to cover up the buzzing
hey mate, nice video! is that the dh71 model? im bought this laptop and iam waiting for it to be shipped. have you had any problems with it? have you ever had internet/network problems or anything.. is it a good laptop?? thank you
No problems...it is the N75sf-t123 or something...it is a nice laptop.it has a nice screen...very good game in performance...no problems so far except the keyboard...it is hard to type you always hit the wrong key and it buzzes on some frequencies because the speakers are large doh I dont think every laptop have this problem..
