This was a tough game. But it always kept me coming back for more. One of those games with 5 stages, but 5 really hard stages and Mark's right. You die with all of your power-ups, speed, and flanks, the game gets away from you.

While I'm sure it was a great system for it's day, I find the Master System games too often employed a poor color scheme. Most SMS games I see are always too bright and often leads to visual confusion, as opposed to NES and C64 games which cleverly and creatively used the default black to good effect in balancing out the bright/dark mixture

I know it is difficult because you are playing this on a Power Base converter but I'm not sure you should compare this to 16 Bit vertical shmups. Perhaps you should put it up against Sky Shark or 1942 which this game compares to favorably. It's typical Sega at the time of release. It's a great game that plays maybe even better than the game it's trying to be while lacking a lot of originality (Action Fighter anyone?). In 1980whatever we were just happy to have something similar and well made.

I remember when my parents bought Bomeraid for me and my sister back in 1988. We played the hell out of that game. Unfortunately it is a single player game. There is a similar game to this on the SMS as well called Astro Warrior. The only difference is you're in space. The similarities are that you fly around, shoot objects, you get items to power up--and yes you can get two extra little flyers on your sides to help you out. Bomberaid is a hard game at times, but well worth the play. : )

Looks cool. Definately got Capcom's 1943 feel along with the punishing Komani's Gradius/Irem's R-Type feel when you lose all your powerups.
