Those little pronouns switches make the song completely different. It was a song that blamed the other person, now it blames himself. Telling people that they're one while criticisising yourself is far more believable than telling it while blaming someone else.
The problem with this song it's being covered too much making into a cliche in some ways (not the message it transfers though), I love the ZOO-TV live versions the most as Bono appears to sing more confidently
They never could have for obvious reasons but they should have had the Shinedown cover instead of this. Its really boring and the Shinedown is the best cover I've heard of this song which is impossible to make better than the original.
I like Damien but this is a snoozer and sounds like he did one take and went back to bed
Who is Damien Rice and Gavin Friday? Not trying to be smart, just don't know where I know them from. I know I've heard the names, just not sure from where.
@kobi1974 What plannet are you on, to compare Damien Rice to Mariah Carey is probably one of the biggest insults you could give the man. Damien Rice is a genious/poet Mariah Carey isn't exactly a genious and that is me being extremely polite.
@mgokelly And that was me being polite as well...This "poet" is way,way overrated."One" is a song with a lot of might and Damien Rice, with all his skill and talent turned it to a tedious demo recording.
Alles wat Damien zingt klinkt mooier dan het origineel.

He has just come in out of the rain and is sitting at a bar thinking out loud about the disaster of a relationship. Totally fried & done. I like it.

I'm just gonna say the piano player on this track is named Luke Slott and he is worth checking out.

Not the best cover I have heard of this song. I like Damian Rice but it seems he has gone through the motions with this song.

Not a bad version really. Maybe not as good as Johnny Cash's version of the song, but still a fairly decent cover of a U2 Classic.

@1SirMachinery Gavin Friday is an Irish singer and songwriter, once the lead singer of the Virgin Prunes and a long time friend of Bono.
Damien Rice is the male version of Mariah Carey.
