  • iT's 2012 and people still belive this garbage!!!!

  • hahahaha, the monkeys can use internet and make videos, thats evolution baby!

  • what a bullshit! how on earth somebody can believe in a book written from primitive ppl thousands of years ago, 200 years ppl believed in ghosts and witches now someone should believe in a book and his old tales? Cmon, mankind reached the moon, healed cancer, cloned animals and you tell us to believe in a god damn thousands years old book, from a time ppl were scared from everything they cant explain! go on dreaming from heaven, its 2011!! dooooh

  • There's a church I pass every night that has a big sign out front which always has some sort of humorous but completely arrogant Christian one-liner on it.

This month's theme is "Eternity: Smoking or non-smoking?"

    I can't help but chuckle.

  • The poster here is proof that we have billions and billions of years before we can let go of our earthly fairy tales.

  • How can you 'study the Bible' and then 'make an informed decision'

    The two are mutually exclusive.

  • What an abysmal waste of time watching this rubbish. God bothering fool....

  • Please read Leviticus 14. Assuming God created man, and leprosy, and the cure for leprosy, why did he not bother to explain that the actual cure could be found in a bacteria on the sands of the French Riviera- not a far trip from Israel?

  • Besides all the interesting people that throughout the ages that weren't Christian, the fact is YOUR religion has hurt mankind very badly. It's retarded our growth in knowledge, technology and morality. If I had absolute proof that the bible was true I would still spit on it.

  • John Adams

"The doctrine of the divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for

    absurdity."

  • Jefferson

I have examined all the known superstitions of the world and I do not find

in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They

are all alike founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men,

women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been

burnt, tortured, fined, and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this

coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to

support roguery and error all over the earth.

  • Thomas Paine

"I would not dare to so dishonor my Creator God by attaching His name to

    that book (the Bible)."

  • "The clergy converted the simple teachings of Jesus into an engine for

enslaving mankind and adulturated by artificial constructions into a

contrivance to filch wealth and power to themselves...these clergy in fact,

constitute the real Anti-Christ." Thomas Jefferson

  • Stone age scribblings contain no wisdom about the universe.

  • Successful troll is successful

  • 'Christianity claims to be telling us about another world, about something behind the world we can touch and hear and see. You may think the claim false; but if it were true, what it tells us would be bound to be difficult -- at least as difficult as modern Physics, and for the same reason.' - CS Lewis - Mere Christianity

  • @4chris10s Thank you for the video, sir. I can clearly see that you like to incorporate humor (albeit of the dark kind) into your preaching. However, I do think that you are trivializing the atheist/agnostic point-of-view. I don't think any humanist just looks at the universe from the Hubble Space Telescope and immediately thinks, "Oh, I get it! God does not exist." It's more of a process of discovery about our cosmos as revealed through science. Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you.

  • "Informed Decision"- pick one religious doctrine, out of thousands. Derive all of your conclusions from this one book, ignoring that fact that it is 2000 years old, devoid of any evidence, has countless passages that have been scientifically dis-proven, promotes a grossly outdated system of morals, and rejects knowledge and free thinking. You should look up the meaning of "informed decision", and check out "moron" while you're at it.

  • if you can prove that hell exists, you would have more likes to this pointless video. you aren't preaching to anyone, just confirming how sadly misinformed you are. may you find enlightenment.

  • Informed decision? Ha ha ha ha ha!

    Wait. . . informed decision?

    Ha ha ha ha ha!

    That is just too rich!

  • Bible=Hitler's diary.

  • Fuck you and the black horse of ignorance you rode in on. RIP Carl! You will be missed loved and admired by all!

  • RIP CARL! You are my hero sir!

  • The story of jesus has been told before, but with different names and locations. That enough should show how untrue the "holy" book you live your life by is.

  • wow. the level of stupidity people are willing to take just to prove god's existence amazes me.

study the bible to make an informed decision about where i wanna spend eternity?

what, you scarin people now to promote stupidity?

oh, i forgot... religious nuts already did that centuries ago.

  • There is only one hell : hell on earth and is called humans stupidity .You are our hell.

  • This is terrible. It's not even intellectual poison, because that would be giving it too much credit. REAL intellectual poison comes from the apologists who delude too many things based on unanswerable questions, or simply fall back to the 'God of the Gaps'.

It's people like the person who made this video who will keep humanity from making any real progress for a few more generations. I really wish I could see it happen - When we aren't shackled to the idealism to which we're born into.

  • Why study the bible for answers?

  • i hope the the day comes in our society when it is illegal to perpetuate bullshit, like childporn

  • I just had to nab the 300th comment to say thanks to everyone for keeping the religious anxiety flowing - keep it up!

  • Prove to me God exists. You can't. It is improvable. The book was written 2,000 years ago in the desert, like most other religions. Religion is blood hungry, and money hungry, and only wants power. Evolution is proven. It is as true as the "theory" of gravity. There is no need for a creator.

PM me if you want a real discussion.

  • I must say, the creator of this video is not a retard, but a creationist, which is one level below in intelligence.

I'm sure many have asked, but who made God?

  • Comment removed

  • I have never had a youtube account because I saw no need to take part in the 'forum' style arguments that occur in every video response section, but I had to create one just now to say, you sir are a hypocritical, low, and utterly simple piece of shit. Grow up, please.... ugh, pathetic. (FYI Agnostic's and Atheist's are quite different)

  • how can you call yourself good when blackmail people to think what you think, is blackmail not a sin?

  • O people, an example is presented, so listen to it. Indeed, those you invoke besides Allah will never create [as much as] a fly, even if they gathered together for that purpose. And if the fly should steal away from them a [tiny] thing, they could not recover it from him. Weak are the pursuer and pursued.

  • Fuck you

  • "The bible tells us". You are using the bible as a credit for what we should believe about the nature of the Universe. You are very, very ignorant about reality and brainwashed. People like you hold humanity down. Stop using a 1-st century book that involves slavery and genocide to create your best understanding of reality. We are not in bronze age Roman Empire, its 21-st century. And guess what, there is no evidence to even suggess that The Universe is controled by some imaginary friend. ;)

  • Please give us the proof that your religion is correct. Also, just because something shows that Jesus Christ did exist does not mean he was the son of the Creator of the entire universe. The Bible is most likely just an explanation of what went on around them that had been changed and modified throughout the years.

  • Wow, you've DEFINITELY proven your point. You are right, and no one else is, even other people who believe in Hell.

  • Apologies for that outburst,it was,in hindsight, unnecessary (as was the phrase "almost literally")

  • you are,almost literally.a cunt

  • Carl Sagan was closer to God than you are.

  • This is about the dumbest thing I have seen.

I mean... even for creationists... this is bush league.

  • Wow, this is some seriously stupid stuff!

  • Do people really still think like this? Faith through fear. Very, very sad.

  • BOLLOKS

  • To all the christian apologists who try to tell me that fear of hell isn't the sole modivation for most christians;

I don't think this guy got the memo. Thank you, kind sir. Thank you for proving me right.

  • The problem with your last statement within this video is that you never establish why one should use the Bible as a source of authority on what happens after we die. Your video is nothing more than ad hominem attacks on Carl Sagan. I was hoping that you would actually provide a rational rebuttal to Carl's claims. Why should one take the Bible as the ultimate authority on what happens after we die? What basis is there for assigning such authority to the Bible?

  • @inexadra, duh, because the Bible SAYS we should give it that authority. That's why. Geeze. ;-)

  • How Ironic. Some of the best people in the world, who contribute the most to society, and the well being of his fellow man, can go to hell. But even the most degenerate murder can enter heaven if he believes and confesses that Jesus is Lord. I guess it doesn't even matter what you do in life, it only matters what you believe.

  • "'What we all dread most,' said the priest in a low voice, 'is a maze with no centre. That is why atheism is only a nightmare'.'" G.K. Chesterton

  • I take solace in the fact that all these religious people are going to die, and rot, nothing else. Death is just the end of biological function, there is no afterlife.

  • @SmokeWeedEveryHour

So you are spiritually dead already. It shows.

The dead shall bury the dead.

  • @jonesgerard Spirituality is a made up concept by people like you. It has no real meaning, you can say "i'm a spiritual person" but what does it mean? That you believe things without evidence? Does that make sense to you? Because it doesn't to me. And proof is proof, it's not objective. Please don't try to sound poetic while making your nonsense points, at least make sure their actually correct. There is no "objective" proof for god. Theres no such thing as "it's proof to me, but not you."

  • @SmokeWeedEveryHour It means you live by spiritual values.(love, tolerance, patience etc).

Your life is your evidence, mine is mine.

AND you cannot have objective proof of the highly subjective.

If you want facts, thats the big one you keep trying to ignore.

  • Don't know about you guys, but I'm spending eternity with Carl Sagan, we're gun smoke weed and ponder the Universe together like the pros we are :D

  • @DrPepperAndSteak

Minus the weed, count me in too bro.

  • THIS VIDEO IS A FRAUD AND THE MAKERS OF IT ARE EVIL BASTARDS

  • I suppose you've studied, in depth, all the religious texts of all the other religions and have determined conclusively that they are absolutely false? Why study just the bible? It could be wrong, right?

  • @beaster29 You don't need to study any religious text to know their all false, how? Evidence. There is not a single piece of evidence supporting any religion, that's what makes it false. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof, I have yet to see any, so my conclusion is that it's plain not true.

  • @SmokeWeedEveryHour

And Extraordinary claims should be disgarded.

    Religion isn't God.

    Its only "about God".

  • @jonesgerard Really man? Really? You say extraordinary claims should be discarded and then you start talking about how you believe in god? Don't you see the contradiction there? My point still stands, there is no proof for a god, whatsoever. Therefore it should be considered as the fairytale that it is.

  • @SmokeWeedEveryHour You can't grasp the distinction between faith and objective proof.

To even consider seeking objective proof for God is just plain nuts.

All you're doing is claiming the nonexistence of what cannot be.

At what stage do you get your own point ?

  • @jonesgerard Faith is faith, fact is fact. You need to grasp that distinction, not me. I'm not the one believing in things without evidence. When you have faith, you loose the need for evidence to prove claims, and it's a downward spiral from there. Nothing good can come of it.

  • @SmokeWeedEveryHour \

You simply cannot accept the fact that faith works in my life, my life.

The evidence is in my life, got it yet?

Demanding proof is irrational when you must gain your own experience with God, that will be your proof. You have to actually DO something, not just sit around and read all about it, You cannot experience the inside of my mind, you can only experience your own mind. This isn't rocket science.

  • @jonesgerard You may interpret your supposed "experiences" as evidence, but how are we to trust that these experiences were actually genuine and not just a product of imagination? The mind can play tricks, and often does. Couple that with peoples' powerful imagination and you can have all sorts of "proofs" for all sorts of ridiculous things. But, if that works for you, then thats all good. Doesn't mean that such "evidence" works for us.

  • @beaster29 Your evidence must come from your own experience.

    You cannot live my experience.

Then you can deal with all the fools who ask you "wheres the proof".

  • @jonesgerard The evidence (for god) doesn't come so much from the experience as from the way one chooses to look at the experience. The evidence only appears when one places it there by attributing natural events, coincidences, good luck, etc to the work of god. When one accepts that, then they can deal with all the fools who claim "here's the proof".

  • @beaster29 Are you speaking from experience or giving an opinion?

Theres the fools who say heres the proof and the fool who demands it.

Its impossible to distinguish between them.

There is no proof, proof is objective, experience is subjective.

  • @SmokeWeedEveryHour Absolutely agree. Yet, people have the arrogance to claim their particular religion is unquestioningly true and all others are absolutely false. While, commonly, knowing little to nothing about any religion, including their own.

  • I would rather worship someone who someone who wants the best for us like Carl did and encourages science

  • Actually it has proven to be the opposite. Theists spend all there time thinking about or preparing for the afterlife. Atheists live in every precious moment. Why are you so threatened by us any way? It takes only the simple logic of a child to realize that god would care either way if we believed in "him" or not. What an ego if that were true. "what, you dont believe in me? God. Go to Hell!! Please.

  • I'll spend the rest of eternity dead cheers =)

  • Oh no! Carl Sagan is teaching people the scientific truth! Quick! Let's remind everyone that our loving and just God is going to make him burn in hell for it! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! If there is a hell, then I am sure it is for theists who blindly follow bronze-age religions rather than face scientific scrutiny.

  • Carl Sagan was a wonderful person. He knew that the more knowledge we gain, the bigger the questions become. Religious absolutism is corrosive. It divides. It causes hate, cruelty, famine, war and death. There is no absolute truth. The closest we can come, and Carl knew this, was science. Absolutism in any form is ignorant. It is dangerous. "Because the Bible ( or the Koran, the Tora, the Hindu Vedas, etc.) tells me so." is not enough for me. I will continue to think for myself.

  • Why worship God when you can worship Carl? I mean, we actually have proof of him, no atrocities have EVER been done in his name, and he's an all around better person.

  • @tskasa1 I don't think Mr. Sagan would have wanted anyone to worship him - whereas God calls us to worship Him.

  • @4chris10s

Exactly! Think about it! He's EVERYTHING a God is supposed to be! Humble, Peaceloving, Just, Peaceful, all loving, Kind, Logical, Wise, Smart, Knoweldgeable, wholly truthful...He's everything the God of the Bible was supposed to be but wasn't!

  • @4chris10s And that makes God right.

  • @tskasa1

    Sagan is dead,

    God lives.

  • @4chris10s

what is wrong with you soul?

  • @4chris10s Sagan couldn't tell you how to save your leprechaun gold either

  • @4chris10s Of course he couldn't, because people don't have souls.

  • Oh my god, are you seriously trying to scare people into being faithful? Or maybe you yourself are believing in god because you fear hell? That is utterly pathetic, not even the pope himself is that retarded anymore. These were the methods of the middleages.

But youre probably an american fundamentalist christian, no one takes you guys seriously anyway.

  • u believe in hell..u don't deserve intellectual respect. your brain is made of a superstitious blob of goo. imo, to believe in something so irrational, makes u hopelessly dellusional, and almost pity worthy to people who are sane naturalists.

  • This video makes me absolutely sick. Please read the most highly liked comment. And, HOW IN THE UNIVERSE can you mockingly quote Sagan saying "we are made of stardust" like that's lame? You sir, are a waste of a human.

  • yes, follow this book written by people who speculate that the earth is only a few generations old. People who say the galaxy, in fact the whole universe is only 6000 years old. What is it that makes your Jesus any more valid than Mohamed, or Zeus? You are very wrong to think that you are right because your parents told you that you were

  • stupid scare tactics saying to either believe in our religion or you will burn in hell

when there is actual proof and science to define how we have come to be

  • This rudimentary attempt at an argument is the similar to many argument made for a creator in that it is a shameless attempt to guilt people in to believing in an invisible, powerless, and imaginary entity. I think that believing in a God is not necessarily a bad thing, but when sheeple like you get a Bible in your hand (or any religious book) and start to group up religion becomes dangerous. Religion has and will always hold back significant gains in education, logic, morality and humanity.

  • why fear an imaginary hell, and hope for an imaginary heaven, when we can fully embrace the reality that carl sagan so eloquently panited for all of us?

  • A minute of my life was wasted watching this video.

  • I'm having trouble imagining there could be people who don't like Carl Sagan.

But i guess if you're still into that bronze-age mythology stuff, you might.

Carl Sagan has returned all his matter and consciousness to the cosmos, for it all to be recycled into something else. All the rest of us have left is memories and his videos and writing.

I have nothing but respect for anyone who would help us to see what a beautiful place our cosmos really is.

  • Albert Einstein : "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

  • If you're trying to convert atheists, you can't threaten them with brimstone. You can't tell them to read the bible. They don't take those things seriously. It's like giving a hoodlum a book of jokes and thinking they'll straighten up after they read it. You have absolutely no idea what you're doing. =/

  • For all you know hell could be a white lie perpetuated by a god or gods to ensure the fidelity of goodness in his creation. It not as if god would be incapable of lying for the greater good.

  • of the roughly 10,000 different religions out there, lets hope you've picked the right one

  • @shoeshiner100...

I like your comment. Quoting Southpark:

Man from Crowd: "Well who was right? Who gets in to Heaven?"

Hell Director: "I'm afraid it was the MORmons. Yes, the MORmons were the correct answer."...LOL

  • Read the God Delusion and wake up from methology and superstitious beliefs. Man created God not the converse. Not one single argument has ever stood up to make the case for God. Not one!

  • What a waste of time this video is...

  • Sheep go to heaven, goats go to hell.

This is a lyric from the band CAKE, of which the song is also titled. Wise words.

  • If God does exist he abandoned us a long time ago. To live with such a God is to live with an unreliable father. Religion has attacked science from the beginning. How many different Christian churches are there? You have Catholics, Mormons, Baptists, Evangelicals and many more. Which one is the right one? In the middle east you have violent wars that were started long ago because of religious differences.

  • I stop believing in Santa has a child.

  • That you have a different opinion is fine with me. What makes me angry is that you choose to depict Sagan as saying things that he simply did not say, let alone believe in. Don't you think your opinion, or your "thought experiment," can stand without making things up, or pretending that two positions on religion are the same? Just because two positions are not the same as yours doesn't mean they are the same position.

  • Comment removed

  • For the record, there is a big difference between atheist and agnostic. An atheist takes the position that no god exists, and an agnostic takes the position of not knowing.

  • Have you read any of Sagan's books at all? If you had, you would know that Sagan never denied the existence of a god. The only thing in this video that he actually says is "We are made of stardust." And he certainly never quoted Laplace, who said "I have no need for that hypothesis."

  • i study harry potter so i know how to defeat voldemort if i see him

  • If god sends people to hell for not worshiping him, then he's a narcissistic fascist and I want nothing to do with him.

Whatever happens when we die, nobody knows -- but at least I haven't wasted my life on my knees, feeling guilty about stuff I didn't do and begged for some imaginary figure's mercy. You guys are masochists.

Carl Sagan was cool and his afterlife manifests as the admiration from his fans, which continues on long after you're gone and forgotten.

  • The great thing about being religious is that you don't have to develop any critical thinking skills.

Just shape the world how you are told and go tell people they are wrong because they can't see you imaginary friend.

  • this is ridiculous

  • well if heaven n hell do exist, at least ill go to hell n not to heaven where douchbags like 4chris10s live haha, what a homo

  • 4chris10s you piece of shit, YOU ARE THE ONE END UP IN HELL TRUST ME

  • Fuck uploader with his all neighborhood :@ u fucking bunch of crap with balls instead of brain!!!

  • Reading the latest comments gives me the impression that hell has already come. Many of these professed atheists wish death or worse to anyone who disagrees with their philosophy. I wish nothing but goodness and love for you all.

  • @4chris10s Doubtful. You threaten people with hell and then claim to wish nothing but good for all? Why not suppose that Sagan and Gould had a deathbed repentance like so many are wont to do? Instead, you decide they have been cast into an eternal lake of fire by an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent being that decided that the only way to save the world (that is, by virtue of its aforesaid traits incapable of not functioning in exactly the way it intended) was to sacrifice itself to itself.

  • @4chris10s I see more hate and death coming from your side.

  • @4chris10s That's just utter bullshit, you can't just make shit up and call it fact you dumbass. I have NEVER met an atheist who wanted everyone who disagrees with him dead, thats a religious thing to do. You apparently wish eternal fire to anyone who disagrees with you, you don't want goodness and love, you fucking lying hypocrite. Maybe you should develop some critical thinking skills numbnuts, maybe then you'll have more reason than 5 year old.

  • The bible is a BOOK, like any other it is a story... IF there is a god, and you live your life asa "good" person, I'm sure he/she/it would understand... But I'm going to stick with the FACTS, which is science.

  • Yeah, well the bible says lots of stupid shit.

  • Normally I wouldn't waste any more of my time on such a retarded video, but I just wanted the maker of it to know that he is an absolute idiot. Your beliefs are illogical and unscientific.

  • Pray doesnt help you. Because there's no any god to hear you.

  • Oh yeah? Well, MY god says YOU'RE gonna burn forever. And you deserve it, too (cuz u don't believe me).

    Asshole.

  • only when you stop believing in the fairytale of religion will you truly be able to open yourself up to the vast wealth of knowledge possessed by mankind, till then you are doomed to live in the dark ages. And think on this, thousands of gods have burst into existence and fizzled out, yours has supposedly only been around for about 6000 years... what in the world, no, the universe, makes you think that your god is the right one

  • haha, another failed christian's antics. when will they learn religion will be the end of us?

  • So...being the good Christian that you are you put false words into a scientist's mouth? Good job Satan

  • I find it shocking when I remember some people still believe in god

  • Please follow the teachings of Christ and the bible OR ELSE YOUR GOING TO BURN IN HELL.

Sounds like a bully that use to pick on weaker kids in school if you ask me. By using threats and intimidation it would weigh against the evidence of any god existing. Surely a god does not need to scare us into submission or allow such evil attrocities to be committed in his name for his causes throughout history, does god?

  • fucking morons, your god is a disgusting fiction. Grow up or kill yourselves, those of us with minds are sick of humanity being held back by your ludicrous fairy tales.

  • I agree with carl 100% theres no god , no hell , crhist only a bounch of religius trying to stl money from your pocket

  • The bible is fiction and I do not study fiction, I study non-fiction.

  • "many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things." Philippians 3:18ff - sounds a bit like what Sagan espoused.

  • I prefer to burn forever in the hell like a free man than living an eternity in the paradise like a sheep

  • Wish granted.

  • you are a psycho, take a gun and go to hunt witches and make slaves because you bible said so... "justify the existence of god with the bible is like justify the existence of superman with a comic". you will burn in hell to because you dont believe in zeus or visnu. they have hells for infidels too.

  • @4chris10s

Are you the mouth of god or something? Do you purpose to speak in his name?

  • @4chris10s why dont you make decisions on evidence and rationality not fear or promise of heaven cause guess what dipshit muslims have a hell to so you better be right and oh yeh lol you might want to think about where you want to spend eternity

  • @4chris10s who are you to condemn someone to eternal hell? I see that as an act only "God" could do meaning he will also send you to hell. in fact, this movie condemns two people who did very much for the understanding of the human species and the cosmos, and Carl's view of the universe will forever be a billion-fold more beautiful than your petty 'christ'

  • i'm with you there, heaven can't truly be heaven... because in order to make it paradise, everyone must love each other, and the only way for that to happen is to remove "free will" and that doesn't sound like any heaven for me

  • really I thought that the real objetive is make of this life a heaven, we don't need other life to be happy, we can found the beauty in nature, with awesome details and elegant facts. reality is bigger than every fantasy delusion else...

  • i do believe that everyone should find beauty in nature and life this one life we all have to its fullest, glory in today, regret nothing from the past and look forward to tomorrow ... i was just stating that there is a logical impossibility of heaven truly being paradise

  • yep... Heaven in the other life, is only a possibility in a deluded mind.

  • what if you had no free will and happened to not know of the matter.. or if the circumstances of that world lead you to a state of existence in which anything other than love was the logical impossibility. either way I'm just thinking not suggesting anything I say is true

  • @CopperFangunlimited Unfortunately you will have to live until the day you die.

  • @jonesgerard I hope. and that don't care me. if after life exist and the hell exist, that is my responsability, I have a responsability with my acts, and I acept all that. not like believers that put all them dirt over the Jesus shoulders to be safe. to me, that doesn't have any moral and is etically incorrect. "hell in justice is better than a heaven full of hypocrisy".

  • Pathetic!

  • This is such an awful video.

  • i hate jesus freaks. this one stinks to high heaven.

  • Well that was a great big stinking pile of FAIL.

  • Oh man, if I don't believe what you believe something bad will happen to me. I'm convinced!

Looking forward to the remake in 2011 -- oh wait, the world will be over by then, right? Good luck with that.

  • First of all Carl Sagan didn't want to believe in the truth of life. He wanted to know the truth of life by direct observation, experimentation / investigation, and developing a theory based upon measured data and experience. Not conceptual, hypothetical, fictional data.

  • What's funny about this video is that Sagan never considdered himself an atheist nor denied God ever existed.

In a 1996 interview, Sagan told Joel Achenbach: "An atheist has to know more than I know. An atheist is someone who knows there is no God."

  • Carl Sagan did much more for humanity than Jesus ever did.

  • @VanKlaunch Did Sagan save any souls?

  • @jonesgerard

Sagan is indirectly responsible for developments that will save billions upon billions of life. Propulsion systems that will take us across the universe. Computers that, one of which. will make every computer currently on Earth (super or otherwise) combined look like a cheap children's toy. Technology that will grow enough food to feed even more billions. Renewable, efficient, power sources that can easily support humanity. And efficient terraforming. JUST TO NAME A FEW!!

  • @jonesgerard I don't think Sagan "saved" any souls, whatever that means. I assume it means something like: [ When a deity removes a hell-bound soul from the fiery path in which the said deity instigated in the first place.] Is this correct? One analogy I've experienced was when I was a child, I'd "torture" G.I. Joes with magnifying glasses. But I was so merciful that I stopped torturing them when they "surrendered" to me. God can save me from the hell he created, but Sagan saved me from God.

  • @VanKlaunch "God can save me from the hell he created, but Sagan saved me from God."

Hell is what we create in our own life with our own choices.

God saved me from my hell.

Sagan couldn't save his own butt.

  • @VanKlaunch I find it interesting how atheists attack Jesus, not Moheamed or Buddah. That should arouse suspicion in the atheists logic but it doesn't.

    Its a blind spot.

  • @jonesgerard

Actually, we do. I argue against Islam all the time. We don't attack Buddah, because Buddah is not a God. Buddah is revered within Buddihsm, not as a God, but an extremely enlightened (i.e. wise) perfectly human being. Something we CAN become as well. Furthermore, Buhddism does not mandate a God, in its raw form, Buhddism is a philosophy that may act as a catalyst to religion. But it is not one in and of itself. So there is no need to.

  • @tskasa1 Actually the answer is Buddah doesn't threaten your ego.

Attacking Islam is like attacking Catholicism.

    Neither are God.
