I'll be getting a set of them soon. How many db's does it put out as a pair? I've just learned about this house stereo set up 10 minutes ago, and wanting to know how loud it really gets... Cool ass theater man!
@yonumpty do your research what poopinisnice is absolutely correct! All yo have to do is go the website and look at the specs and have some basic math skills and you will see. It does not for a fact have the same woofers as the F113. JL Adiuo says this repeatedly if you care to do a little research. The driver was completely redesigned for the Gotham and have a cone excursion of over 4". There is a huge difference between two stacked F113 and the Gotham! JL Audio confirmed this on AVS Forum!
@CadmanDigital4U They use the same drivers I can promise you that. They have the same travel etc. It is the same driver as is used in car audio as well. The reason the Gotham costs so much more is purely down to how much more difficult and time consuming they are to make versus the Fathom. If you look on the JL website and go to mobile audio then select the W7 line. Then click the technology thing. Look at the "did you know" section. Will state it there they use W7's in Gothams and Fathoms
@yonumpty Wrong! You don't know what your talking about. Manville as the president of the company has said otherwise. The driver was completely redesigned for the Gotham and have a cone excursion of over 4". Watch the Gotham video too, I says so as well. I won't argue with you anymore. I know what the facts are. And by the way I did dub the audio on this video. Who wants to listen to a microphone getting destroyed? I stated that more than once.
Insane sub m8 havent had a this heavy buying/wanna have urge since the mid 80`s and castle greyskull was available! :-P Coudos to u for using real music instead of that fekkin bass i love u from Basstroniks so damn tired of that song.
This must slam in this room!! I'm sitting about 17 ft back from my home theatre setup. I only have my sub at 12 to 1 oclock. What level are the Gothams at. They are seriously moving! If my system wasn't already built in, I'd setup the jl's on both sides too! I would get as much joy with them as my Audi s5!
Thanks! My installer told me that 2 f113's would be better, and I've read in stereophile about them using 2 f113's. I just noticed, you have 2 Gothams. I must of forgot when I commented. My installer listed it as 12,000, and the fathom with the 2 12's for $6100. I could have two for the price of one Gotham. Did you hear the dual 12 fathom? Have you listened to the veld. 18. If it's a good difference I could see going with a Gotham.
In the beginning of the song, It sounds like an incredible upper bass line. Is that coming from your klipschs or if the goth. What crossover on the jl's. My vel hgs18 is awesome and mostly movies, although this sounds great. My klf20 klipsch have 2 10s and two horns each. I'm wondering how low that jl goes. I have a big room. The vel is only 3 percent dist at full at 20hz while jl is at 12. I'm consider the 2 f113s 5000 watts total.
@krellamps The Gotham has considerably more enclosure volume (size) than two F113's which means it doesn't need as much power to play louder and more efficiently than two F113's. Also, the 13 1/2" drivers in the Gotham are a totally different design than the 13 1/2" drivers of the F113's and are capable of 4" of cone excursion peak to peak. The F113 can't do this. JL audio says 2 F113's can't come close to the performance of 1 Gotham.
@poopinisnice The Gotham has no more enclosure volume than 2 F113's. Also use the exact same woofer. Both use W7 drivers, so both offer the same one way linear XMAX which is 32mm. Very little real world difference between two stacked F113's and the G213. However those looking at 2 Fathoms for the extra power. Well that makes next to no difference either. They all have around 6.3 litres of displacement per driver though. Info is on JL's website. The Gotham does look the dogs bollocks though!
Finally someone power klipsch speakers with seperates! I have the klf20's(2 10's) matching center with dual8's and sur. With 8's. With a velodyne hgs 18(big room). Krell s1200 preamp an sep amps. You have a nice amp, to power your speakers, love the gothums!!

The two f113s have 2500 watts each abd cost 3500 each. I'd save and more power. Did you consider this?
