i dont understand why you scots still tolerate highland clearings from 19centtury and why dont you demand your villages, land and mountains back???????
There is nothing really to "tolerate". I learnt all about them during my time at school and that did make me passionate. However, I don't see what there is to retake or gain? The land is all ours, we have right of way all over the country and I doubt a lot of Scots who live in the cities or who immigrated would want to come back to their villages several generations later. It'd be lovely, but there'd be no work.
@inkpaduta well, the Highland clearances are something that Canadians should be bothered by, seeing as that's where those Scots went, mostly in Alba Nuadh
@akropiss Okay, so by your logic its not okay for Scots to be bothered by the Highland Clearances? I don't really see where your comment comes into my point either?
@inkpaduta I'm saying leave the Highlanders who were cleared out of this, its ancient history to us, We don't bring that event into modern politics, its history that is all, we do hold a grudge against England for killing our language though
@akropiss First, I'm Scottish. Secondly, in no part in my comment did I mention anything about hatred; on the contrary I was opposing the idea of urssulas comment. I did mention that in High School I was angry and passionate about it, however I think I can now disregard the ideas of my fourteen year old self. I see myself as British and not Scottish, I do not follow the sterotypical "Scots hate Englishman".
There can only be one! :)
