@jononbass18 :: I tried em out..but burned thru the heel and toe in a MONTH. I'd go for the Vapor 9's. Simply Love those shoes so much I bought another one .."good tennis shoes" only come out so often..
I used to hate running but now with these shoes I love it. My legs don't hurt and my feet feel smooth and these shoes are incredibly light. I highly recommend these!!
great but, the black grip wears off onto floors makes a right mess
i have to use tape to stop them messing my floor. i love how they feel though, i have a pair for around the house,. just wish they wouldn't use the grip that leaves marks.
what i hate is that people think these are like converse's, like disposable or something. mere images. NO! these are expensive running shoes that are for people who really run! the fact that people never run with these and rock them with their skinny jeans is just outrageous!
i loves these shoes.. seriously they make u want to run..
also i use to wear brooks beasts - they were so heavy in comparison, and even though have a lot of cushioning they were actually making my feet weaker.
@IHSparkour but Vibrams have VERY little cushioning. The point of these is to give you that barefoot feel without the pain, fatigue, and damage that your feet would get if you were actually barefoot or running in Vibrams.
@1alex1m Actually Vibrams do absorb a lot of impact. They are definitely a minimalist barefoot shoe, meant for barefoot runners that want a little more protection or comfortableness for their feet, including the natural flexibility that the human foot provides. After using Nike free runs, while being a great shoe, its range in flexibility was only limited to the front of the shoe and the grip ran out pretty fast.
@shortthunder6 is a wise person. My £75 Free Run+ 2s have been scrubbed and put in the washing machine and will be given to the RSPCA this week. Apart from the tread being quickly worn away, they look like new. Hope the animal-lover who buys them gives them to his dog to chew and doesn't actually try wearing them. I couldn't even walk in them in the end. All Nike 'Free' soles: DANGEROUS GIMMICK.
i use this shoe for free running / parkour its really great for it but the bad side affect is tht when you wall run, cat leap or flip the traction of the shoe gets weaker :( i need parkour shoes!!!
When used 4 running - 'Free' soles are a dangerous gimmick! The supple soles put a large bending force on the metatarsals & I soon felt a rheumatic ache, with occasional sharp twinges after a run.The aching was also in my ankle & up 2 my knee, due 2 lack of cushioning from the tough sole rubber (2 prevent them splitting between segments). There's no benefit of Free soles.Ur metatarsals will fracture B4 they've time 2 adapt.I had a constant dull pain for 8wk B4 giving up on them. Also, they've no grip!
@goatlps You probably didnt give your body time to get adjusted to the shoe. They are meant as a runner that strengthens your foot and helps improve the muscles in your feet. They say you should slowly adapt to the shoe. Im sorry you had pains but I have the Free Run+ and I love mine. I wouldn't run a marathon in them but as far as a shoe to help improve your speed and strength.... I say thumbs up!
@ClarkS1984 I did c.500 miles in my Zoom Jasaris last year, at 8.9oz they're not exactly bulky/heavy duty (with no solid plastic in the sole), so my feet should be ready for anything. I had no soft tissue pain, it was horrible dull pain 24hrs a day for over 2 months. All these trainers are good for is dancing/moonwalking, cos they're light and have zero grip. They might be ok for runners with Hobbit feet though. ;)
@shortthunder6 Only get these if you want to carry your metatarsals around in a glass jar. Otherwise - get the Adidas AdiZero Adios, or the Saucony Kinvara 2 are also meant to be good. If you need the Nike+ sensor - get a Jivo sensor suit (holder) off Amazon. All the Nike+ trainers are either too heavy, or like these, a dangerous gimmick. Obviously, if you're doing 10 miles+ per week on tarmac you'll need heavier shoes (with thicker soles).
Did they really have different midsoles/outsoles ? What mostly changed was the upper construction. Point is these have the + added to them, it has a different level of flex grooves and added cushioning- Why not change the name ? I respect your opinion on keeping it a 5.0, all I'm saying is if there's a difference then name it differently.
@SakuraSolidMarker these are definitely great shoes for building those intrinsic muscles in your feet and strengthening your legs in general. If you're running up mountainous terrain, then I would suggest a trail shoe, (pegasus+27 trail) giving you greater traction.
I have to say that this shoe is one of the best ones a ever put on., Is very confrotable and lightly shoe that can really help you move true every sport and I play volleyball and in my practices I never felt so free jump since I bought this type of shoe . Sow thanks Nike :)
@richter325 Yes, and No.. The original Nike Free Run + were the replacement for the Free 5.0 V4. These are replacing the Free Run +, hence the name Free Run + "2" ... I really don't see why they didn't keep the original naming scheme, makes it too confusing IMO.
@adamdude15 the naming of the shoe changed due to the incorporation of the Nike+ capability that was not previously available in the other models (3.0 , 5.0 or 7.0 ). The shoe is virtually in the same barefoot level as the 5.0 although breaking away with the " + ", making it a first in the series. In my opinion I think it deserved it's own recognition.
@MultiSly21 it is extremely comfortable and durable enough. there is just not much support for your ankle. i wear it around everywhere and don't have a problem but if you want more ankle support do not
@MultiSly21 Yes and No, depending on how much distance your running per day. I use these shoes on my off days, basically on days which I run 2-3 miles. Since the Free's are meant to mimic barefoot running, the muscles on your feet are being worked out more effectively than traditional running shoes making this a shoe to use progressively as your feet get STRONGER !
Finally guys get nice colors, too!!!!! I have not purchased a running shoe in a while because the colors have been so dull. I guess, I will have to get this one. :-)
