Wear a helmet or don't wear a helmet I do not care. I am teaching my kids to ride it is a good thing in my opinion. Especially at low speed and when starting out. Adults are not the only ones looking at you tube.

@gabbardi Setting an example for who? Are other adults going to be influenced to wear a helmet because this guy does? Do adults need to set "good examples" for other adults? If I were to post a video riding without out a helmet, would I be setting a " bad example" for other adults? The Federal helmet law was found unconstitutional.. That's why many states did away with them. Many accidents, injury and deaths are due to Helmets. Sure they can save your life, They can also kill you.

I had one just like that in 76-77, it melted the aluminium between the exhaust valves on one cylinder, got it home riding on one cylinder. Never seen it going again.

I rode a '75 TX-500A ( metallic purple) on a 4 month trip around california Utah & Nevada in ' 76. I had highway pegs,a luggage rack & padded sissy bar on mine. Great little motorcycle,I still miss it.

BTW,if you swap the forks left to right ,you can get your break caliper lower & inside.

That's a nice one. I remember riding one in '73 that belonged to a friend of a friend. First "big" bike I ever rode and I really enjoyed it.

@bigchappy1970: Late response, but yes. 73,74, 75 TX 500 and XS 500B share same engine. According to early published reviews it is a very complicated engine. Also known for a few engine problems like cracked cylinders. Prob from over heating. Use Yamaha lube oil which can handle higher temps.
