I'm not sure about these Optical zoom ratios... I have a Canon Powershot SX20 and it is supposed to be equivalent to 560 mm; however, as I recall my SLR Film days, 500 mm was VERY powerful, could recognize a cigarette pack brand 1/2 mile away. My 20x is a great zoom but is seems more in the range of my Pentax 90-230 zoom than 560 mm. Maybe I'm just remembering wrongly. BTW, Dorn, the SX20 does give the 35mm equivalents on the lens barrel.
You know, I didn't even think about putting a card in the camera for test shots. I was only concerned with getting this video shot. Sorry about that. It's hard to think of everything while you're working the show. There's just too much going on and too much to get done. I am anxious to check this camera out, though. Out of all the available superzoom / bridge cameras, I think this one is the most interesting.
i dont understand it when people say thirty X optical zoom. it sounds so gimiky or like the person doesnt understand it means times. but the camera looks sweet!
If you're saying you don't like when they say "x" instead of "times, " then I totally agree. And it should always be followed up with the 35mm focal length equivalent. This camera is sweet, though. It's at the top of my superzoom camera review list right now.

I imagine Fuji won't allow any actual pictures or even actual digital image reviews until its released. =(
The LCD isn't a 420k, its just 230k right? Could you get any impressions about image quality, or did they not allow cards in it?
