Just to clarify, you can text with the free version, but only to other people who have Vlingo.
My free version of Vlingo works great. I mumble and speak low and it picks up 95% of what I say, and it works quicker than yours did in the video (well...depending on how many apps I have running, lol). But keep in mind that it does learn your voice and speech pattern over time (just like any voice software does). I'm considering upgrading so I can do email and text non-vlingo users.
Your problem is your phone. Using Vlingo on my Sprint HTC EVO rocks. Plus it's free.
