It looks pretty good, though it's going to be a DS game, so I don't really expect to get my min blown. ithe developer didnt have enough funds for a fancy dancy port to ps3 or 360 and the rights belong to nintendo currently.i think the ds version will be good as long as its not a re-hash also thats probuly the reason everythings chibi

It (officials gamer magazine, do not know the exact titel) said that Sakuya summoned Ammy's puppy son to help rid the world of evil again. it sounds good and cute, so i think that they will not screw it up to bad if it turns out to be a bad game.
It might be Ammy's son, but the game (at least the FIRST one) is based on shinto folklore, myths and legends and as I remember... She had no children, no husband and there is no one called Chibiterasu or somethin' like that in the legends. For me, it's better a sequel with Amaterasu as the protagonist. This story about... Chibiterasu will bring some bad news...
I read an official gamers magazine that it was Ammy's son. It is for sure. And they did steer the myths from their original story in the first game. and they called it chibiterasu because it is cute, not because it is in myths. I do know that the name of Ammy's son is no where in myths, and who knows? Maybe it was just a name the magazine gave. and wasn't there some connection though between Japan's first emperor and the Sun Goddess?
Now, is Chibiterasu "she" or "he"? And yes, I read that the first Japan's emperor called himself "Descendant of Amaterasu". Not her son but her grandson or great-grandson or whatever. But I still think that Amaterasu as the protagonist would be better...

Wtf how can Okamiden be a before sequel to Okami? clearly stating from my issue of game stop magazine with information about the game it clearly says Susano and Kuishi had a son! and that Chibiratsu was Ammy's pup. There is no way this is a before sequel to okami. It would mean that susano and Kuishi would have to have the child back when Ammy was known as Shiranui And Susano wasnt alive then only Nagi. The facts are there Okamiden is NOT before Okami.
but waka's a (moo tribe) human! he cant do it with ammy! (when did this convo start...) another wierd thing, on the final boss, when you use a certain technique, cant remember it, oki appears and deals damage to yami, how does that work, he's not even dead! (unlike himoko and rao, who also aid you in the final battle after using certain abilities)

Wow. . . I don't even know where to start. . . I personally am -very- disappointed with this. I've been waiting all this time for a sequel to Ookami, and they come out with a DS platform game?! Acutually if you go to the presents from issun option when you beat the game on the main menu on the character page it does show Susano Kushi and their son
in a picture. also Sakuya from the begining of the Okami game tries to summon Ammy but Chibiterasu appears. (possibly Ammy son?) anyway then he goes on a adventure to sole the mystery why all the demons have suddenly come back.

Well the DS is PERFECT for the celestial brush, I mean you cannot beat it. The only problems I see for this will be due to the technical limitations of the DS either not being able to properly handle the 3d gameplay or potentially a lousy frame rate. Hopefully my fears will come to nothing though.

They did say it takes place 3 months after the end of Okami, so I'm not exactly sure how they're going to tie it all together. What with Susano's kid looking at least 6, Ammy dissapearing, and this new diety being on earth... =/ Who knows, maybe what I saw was a typo and it's 3 years. (which is still a big stretch)

I'm excited about the game, but at the same time, I wish they wouldn't. Okami was fine on its own. What could the story be about, though? In the original, you wiped darkness from the Earth. What next is there to do?
As far as we know, Sakuya needs the help of those cute protagonists, so i'm really confident we'll have to bloom more guardian saplings (yeah =D) in areas we didn't explore in the original.

what are you talking about? of course the PSP can handle the graphics, probably better. i think the only reason it's on the DS is the fact that the DS has a stylus to use the celestial brush.
Im disappointed there won't be a Wii or beautiful Hi-Res PS3 sequel (fuck the 360, they don't deserve a game like this and it would be ignored and would go to waste on the Halo system), I understand because the developments costs might not get recouped but either way I'm buying it.
Eh...maybe it's just me, but...I'm not a big fan of trying to make sequels to games. Eternal Darkness, MadWorld, Okami...these games will work fine on their own, not to be meddled with to take the risk on this kind of success. These cult classic games are just that; CULT CLASSICS. The CULT behind these might go batshit crazy when they discover that, the sequel to one of their favorite games bastardized the original somehow. For Okamiden, I'm not holding my breath. Though...DS is a nice choice.

I'm sure they'll do another Okami concerned with Ammy's mission at the Celestial Plains, but now they have to gather some money with the DS Version and the Wii version of Okami being released in Japan.

I really don't think Chibiterasu and Kuninushi look unfitting, if you think of the children in the original Okami - they look exactly the same. And presumably not all models will have the chibi touch, Sakuya's looks pretty much the same as she used to look.
maybe a chibi touch added to just younger things would be cool to contrast against old things? and kuninushi looks like sasano meets the child in the first village of okami .(the one with the canine warrior)
Oh gosh, hopes, anxiety, doubt, and a whole truckload of squealing abound. On one hand, I have to stop myself from running around screaming; on the other, I'm freaking worried that they'll mess this up. Okami is one of my all time favorite games and a masterpiece.
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I REALLY HOPE THEY DON'T CANCEL...... I see no reason why they would..... I just really hope there will be more Waka since he is my favorite charater :D

The art work is beautiful for DS by the looks of it. I'm confident they'll do well. I don't think we have to worry too much about the control scheme, either. The big question mark over my head right now is where they're going to go with the music. It sounded gorgeous in the original, but this is on a DS. I think it'll be good, but will it be GREAT like Okami's was? Either way, I'm just happy my dreams came true. ;w; <3 you for this Capcom!

well... okami was ,by itself, a great game. and i always feared a sequel because i was afraid that they would screw it up and make a great game infamous. if this is a sequel i hope they work hard on it.
I feel the same way. However with the sources I've been looking though I think it's being made by the same people who made Phoenix Wright games. So they are competent, and the art direction so far looks perfect for Okami on the DS. So it may not be as bad as we think, probably won't be teh same withough clover's touch however.
good point. i play phoenix wright but i never would have thought that they would make a rpg let alone one such as okami. but yeah, it may not be as bad as we think, still, they could never replace clover's bit of gold.

Ookami means wolf, and Kami means god. Okami, however, means great god.
But I really do love they played with the title. =w= I hope they don't screw this one up, either. The first one was genius, and I expect the sequel to be the same level as the first one, if not better.

What!? NOT FOR PS2!!!!!??????????? The graphics are kinda ugh. I wish they kept the same graphics as Okami 1 and they made it at least for ps2 too. Man, that stinks. Well the DS is PERFECT for the celestial brush, I mean you cannot beat it. The only problems I see for this will be due to the technical limitations of the DS either not being able to properly handle the 3d gameplay or potentially a lousy frame rate. Hopefully my fears will come to nothing though.

They did say it takes place 3 months after the end of Okami, so I'm not exactly sure how they're going to tie it all together. What with Susano's kid looking at least 6, Ammy dissapearing, and this new diety being on earth... =/ Who knows, maybe what I saw was a typo and it's 3 years. (which is still a big stretch)

It's kinda of a bummer that it's not on the Wii, but it's cool.
I hope they really try hard with this one and make it better than the Zelda DS games.
They should also create some new soundtrack for this game and not just use music from the original and advertise it properly.

I've been waiting for a sequel to Okami. I fell in love with it! But... This isn't Okami Amaterasu... This is a way different wolf. At least I think it is... I read about it in several different websites... But all I know that it's gonna be awsome!

I'm excited about the game, but at the same time, I wish they wouldn't. Okami was fine on its own. What could the story be about, though? In the original, you wiped darkness from the Earth. What next is there to do?

As far as we know, Sakuya needs the help of those cute protagonists, so i'm really confident we'll have to bloom more guardian saplings (yeah =D) in areas we didn't explore in the original.
I suggests several areas still need some celestial brush action.

what are you talking about? of course the PSP can handle the graphics, probably better. i think the only reason it's on the DS is the fact that the DS has a stylus to use the celestial brush.

You probably haven't seen a lot of the DS's library then. Check out Phantom Hourglass for an example...it apes the style of Windwaker very very well.

Im disappointed there won't be a Wii or beautiful Hi-Res PS3 sequel (fuck the 360, they don't deserve a game like this and it would be ignored and would go to waste on the Halo system), I understand because the developments costs might not get recouped but either way I'm buying it.

Eh...maybe it's just me, but...I'm not a big fan of trying to make sequels to games. Eternal Darkness, MadWorld, Okami...these games will work fine on their own, not to be meddled with to take the risk on this kind of success. These cult classic games are just that; CULT CLASSICS. The CULT behind these might go batshit crazy when they discover that, the sequel to one of their favorite games bastardized the original somehow. For Okamiden, I'm not holding my breath. Though...DS is a nice choice.

Eh.. In my opinion, I'm not too excited about this. I was hoping that when a sequel for Okami would come out, it would be an actual sequel.. To me, this just kind of sounds like a spin-off or something.
And for the DS? Come on, what about the XBox 360 or the PS3 or something? Being a big fan of Okami myself, I was excited to hear about a sequel. I'm just disappointed about this whole "Chibiterasu" thing. I would've liked to see a sequel that starred Amaterasu again, not her "chibi" carnate.

I'm sure they'll do another Okami concerned with Ammy's mission at the Celestial Plains, but now they have to gather some money with the DS Version and the Wii version of Okami being released in Japan.
But I'm still exited for the new one, it proves the franchise isn't dead.

I really don't think Chibiterasu and Kuninushi look unfitting, if you think of the children in the original Okami - they look exactly the same. And presumably not all models will have the chibi touch, Sakuya's looks pretty much the same as she used to look.

The art work is beautiful for DS by the looks of it. I'm confident they'll do well. I don't think we have to worry too much about the control scheme, either. The big question mark over my head right now is where they're going to go with the music. It sounded gorgeous in the original, but this is on a DS. I think it'll be good, but will it be GREAT like Okami's was? Either way, I'm just happy my dreams came true. ;w; <3 you for this Capcom!

Okami Hope had no effect on this, seeing as we did not send our letters to Capcom yet.
But, we will not give up this group, regardless of the fact that another game in the Okami franchise is being released.
You did have a valid point Masato, stating that many people own a DS, providing more opportunity for more sales.

well... okami was ,by itself, a great game. and i always feared a sequel because i was afraid that they would screw it up and make a great game infamous. if this is a sequel i hope they work hard on it.

I feel the same way. However with the sources I've been looking though I think it's being made by the same people who made Phoenix Wright games. So they are competent, and the art direction so far looks perfect for Okami on the DS. So it may not be as bad as we think, probably won't be teh same withough clover's touch however.
