Canonical has great motives when it comes to the future of computing, but this will be a flop if they go off their current code base. Right motives, wrong development.
i love Linux but Ubuntu's move to Unity bothered me at first but after playing with Unity, it has grown on me. and now with uTouch, modding my netbook into a tablet will be so much more rewarding!
It's all point-and-click stuff now. Notice there was no touch scrolling on that webpage, just a lot of push-button and drag. Only two interactions used multi-touch.
uh, no, there's no need to use the CLI to install Flash (not that it's shuch a horrible thing to use a CLI anyway), it's in the Ubuntu Software Center, and has been for a long time. Or install chrome and it's included
though if it's like Ubuntu, then you'll still need a keyboard to get flash in order to play videos. though Super OS has it already installed as does Linux Mint. I've also seen a guy buy a touchscreen and use compiz and had it work great

Hope to see some tablets or handheld multitouch ubuntu computers in 2011! a cheaper alternative. but yea it has to come with a separate Software center with apps that support multitouch to sell!
good going ubuntu! but still a lot more touch improvement needed! maybe by 12.04 we will have a completely multitouch aware and fully scalable ubuntu OS? i like the idea of taking the same ubuntu OS and adding a different multitouch friendly skin to it! not like what M$ is doing (actually they are doing nothing!)
@ttk1opc just download Ubuntu (its free) and try it for your self. This is not fake. Why you think its impossible to to interact flash with your fingers?
does it really does a multi-touch support? or its something like every body posting around that needs a bit more polishing? btw congrats with the meerkat...around here Im booting in around 10 secs...REALLY GREAT WORK AROUND THIS ISSUE that has been said that will work around it. I can only imagine how it should be in one netbook without many services on startup ;)
The entire window idea doesn't work with a touch screen in my opinion, also the evice looks exceptionally nerdy. Don't get me wrong I am nerd but what advantage does this offer over a laptop?
ubuntu is my bestest oprating system
thank you ubuntu dev

Does 'globalmenu' work well with the touchscreen, e.g. optimized to respond to downward swipe from screen top

Okay one point. If Ubuntu is doing all this work on touch, why do we STILL have to set up screen rotation ourselves?

@iFargle one can now choose to download the restricted extras at installation. It's swell.

pity can't post the link to jamendo.com, and shame the author did not credit her properly in the description! :(
ilPeach 1 year ago 9
@ilPeach It's possible Canonical bought a commercial license to use the song, in which case they did not have to give credit.

damn it the ipad can go fuck itself this is so much cooler!
