AWB were one of the Best Bands of the 70's. Most people didn't know they were Euro until they got the album. Nobody cared much anyway. AWB was the Truth.
Music is a universal language. It should not matter who & what race/color plays it. If it sounds good & well perfectly performed, that's all that should matter. Can we just all get along??? Make music not war!! This is one of my fav groups.
I'm will be 42 as of Jan 13th...I remember listening to this on 98.7 kiss or wbls when I was a kid...one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard still to this day...like alot of ppl expressed music is color blind, soul and the groove is in the heart...I have always listened to music from my heart and will continue to do so...thanks 4 posting AWB...I will soon be putting on my iTunes to enjoy with the luv of my own
This one of the bands back in the day to put spice into their music. There are not to many that even knows how to put out music as this today that can offer that blend of favor. Takes me back to those that people were more in sync with character and had something to say that made some sense and a lot of people could deal with what was being put in the air waves. The best to you Average White Band.
Between these lads, Frankie Miller, Maggie Bell, Maggie Reilly, Jim Mullen (of Kokomo), Lorna Bannon, and a host of others who had soul to burn but never made it, Scotland can claim to produce a lotta groups with tons of soul. Maybe it's the water--or the whisky...
I was 15..... When I first heard this Song... And Let me tell you, It sounded Good then! and It still sounds good TODAY! AND THAT WAS 35 YEARS AGO BABY! Iam A BLACK WOMAN! SOUL HAS NO COLOR @ GRIFITTI I TOTAL AGREE WITH YOU! "A LOVE OF YOUR OWN" THIS SONG IS 4 EVER!....
WOW!!!!!! TIMELESS! Listen that fucking groove! They just laying it! A lot musicians today over play! They just making love to the groove! Love the dynamics and falsesetto's! This so great!
Ima black woman and I have L O V E D AWB from waaaaay back in the day. And I'm STILL lovin' these blue-eyed soul brothers. Soul is a feeling from within....crosses racial line. SOUL ...IS COLOR BLIND, baby.

Both my parents loved to dance, we all danced from the beginning. Yes, music transcends beyond all colors, cultures, races and can be a bonding. Cool music.
Thanks to Odack for posting this awe some song best ever !!! And People why we all ways have to code with race REPEAT WE ALL ARE HUMAN only in America they care about race, but back to thanks comments thanks again ODACK!!!!!
I remember when the first came out, everybody thought it was James Brown band, But we were wrong! These boys were and still are holding it down. If you an catch them live, you will be amazed!! AL O BROOKLYN.
The white boys are bad.... so much soul the is nothing average about this band. classic music... pick up the pieces was the jam back in the day... white boys bands dont flow like this these days :-)
I have a 35 yr old daughter and I use to play this song and other tracks by the AWB when she was a young child back in the 80's. My daughter told me about 2 yrs ago that she had just learned that the AWB was not a black / African American band. We laughed like crazy that afternoon and we still laugh about it to this day. Now that's when you know that the music is great music. When you don't who the artist and it doesn't matter who that artist is in order to enjoy and appreciate it.
i was a teen when this hit the airwaves...i remember this at weekend parties, low lights, slow dancing, and carefree in my youth...some sweet nostalgia that i will always remember with a smile.
AWB is legit. I knew it from day one. They didn't merely imitate or patronize soul music; they MADE soul music. Race wise, it shows that they had a high regard for the African-American sound. They didn't make corny soul, because they revered the form of Soul. Kudos to them for that.
@piezoelettrico - Yes, his name is Fred Vigdor and he played with AWB for a while, from around 2000 through 2005 or maybe later. I've met him at jam sessions here in Atlanta and he's a fine player. (PS, I like your screen name!) ;-}>
These boys are off the hook! They sound the same way they did back in the 70's .... I know for a fact, because i saw them at the Hollywood Bowl,by the way i'm 52 years old.
These boys are the shit........ i cant say enough!!! They sound the same way they did back min the 70's. I know because i saw them at the Hollywood Bowl By the way i'm 52!!

Are you kidding me, I am 50, these cats are working at exactly the same intensity as I recall back in the 70s. Thank you AWB for decades of cool white funk and soul.
Thank you for This Song....AWB is one of my all time favorite..... I was in the 8th when i meat my huband, He was in the 11th back in the 1970's. this was the first gift he ever gave me, AWB albumn. His first initial was A and his last initial was B , no middle. I was told that i was the W and we loved AWB........ We got married in 1980, I'm still shaped like a W, please believe me.....
I'm an AWB fan, but to claim that when white performers sing R&B they always do it better is racist bullshit, and you knew it when you posted that asinine comment.
Im so glad they still tour. I saw them a month ago and they put on a GREAT show. Theyre probably around their 60's now and they can still do it. I can only hope that im that cool when im 60.
@Factmaster2020M ...what make u think this is only black music?...music is just good music regardless of where it originated......maybe you should keep on listening to blue grass, or japanese, u dope..
@allout1034 i agree however...check out the Japanese band Hiroshima...very good music...good music is just that ... good music! origin does not matter
@nasharde ...my apologies nasharde....I checked out Hiroshima and they are GOOD!...i need to stop putting my foot in my mouth. Thanks for turning me on to them...
This is one of the best live versions of this song. This is not the original AWB but they do the song justice. The eleven who disliked the video must be on something. The vocals are tight, the sound is awesome and full. Just a dynamic live version. The House of Blues was rockin that night. Everything changes so lets enjoy what this version of AWB has created. I agree. Nothing like the original but time has moved on.
One of my favorite groups back in the day...They made beautiful music to rock to and sway to...Remember going to a concert at the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans with them singing "School Boy Crush" and "Person To Person"... We had whistles blowing and our umbrellas opened up inside the joint. You would get a contact just breathing the air!!! Everything was so beautiful back in the day...Thanks for this posting...
Watching Alan Gorrie play is strangely lewd... the look on his face is like he's in the middle of well, you know, "the act" -- maybe it's the sweat and the pained expressions... omg, help me for my wicked thoughts!
@Factmaster2020M I love it. It's obvious that when white proformers cross over to black shit they are superior. May sound racist, but whenever we whites decide to sing black shit,{ from eminem to average whiteband] We do it badder and better! lol
@Factmaster2020M Look, music is universal. Anybody can have soul, black, white, yellow, purple, you name it. Race has nothing to do with it. This is a great song. Don't ruin it with nasty comments.
@TheCalebson ...I'm white and played lead guitar in a funk band back in the day, never had a problem or heard any nasty comments. Everyone liked AWB back then as well, didn't seem like anyone noticed what "color" they were. Things sure seemed different back then..."soul" and "rhythm" didn't seem to know any race, it's what you had INSIDE you. Seems like a lot of people have lost sight of that...
@terryr55 RIGHT ON! And don't forget that 'Lady-T/Teena Marie's' first album was FACELESS, because Motown had no idea if black folk would ignore her, due to her skin colour and let's face it, that sista was/will ALWAYS be one of the greatest R&B singer/DIVA's,,,, EVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVER!!!! R.I.P. Lady-T - J
@terryr55 very true, in high school my 8 tracks were everything from mott the hoople led zepplin to parliament funkadelic and ohio players. the radio stations dialed back the clock without telling us the crap the tried to pull in the 50,s. Music is the bridge to the soul of us all more than many people realize.
@terryr55 So true. I think the 80's kinda ruined that age of "color blindness". MTV had a lot to do with that downfall of good music production regardless of race of the artist. I remember the whites had MTV and the blacks had BET (to a degree). Funny how MTV2 is so hip hop now, but now the quality of music has died. I'm glad you were part of the 70's music revolution. It was a great great time for pure music, regardless of genre.
Way back in the late 70's....Husband was stationed at Chanute AFB. In Champaign on the billboard was this small AWB on the bottom...we were dumb...missed being in close contact as they performed. DOH!!!!
I am sitting here reminissing about my childhood listening to this song in my Dad's pimped out 72 Thunderbird... listening to this song on his 8 track!!!!
Awww man I love AWB.!!!! True statement @RhondaMcl1 their music does transcend generations!!
This song is just so transcending and beautiful just as the day I first bought the pink 8 track back in the '70's , so much reflection in those days when I took advantage of my youth and my innocence to a heavy level of experimenting with women, drugs and alcohol. If I had to do it over, it would be sober because of the regret that I wasted so many years under the influence not realizing how precious life was and now all I have are these beautiful old songs to remember....so...so precious.
ive been raised to this type of funk music and when i heard this song it remind me of my parents playing this album and this music takes me to make the ladies panties drop when this days females listen to this songs they ask me questions and i tell them to listen and go with flow big time san diego ,califas logan heights thirty street

DOH!!!!
