  • yr reach into the water is too deep, u needa stretch yr arms forward more(push yr shoulders forward), more reach = more distance, and try to close your fingers, your elbow under watch needs to be push more forward, it catches more water in that way.. just a 2 cents worth thought:D cheers

  • wow they sure reach deep at the bottom of each stroke !

  • I considered myself a poor swimmer three weeks ago when I joined the local pool, but discovered these vids 2 weeks ago and have gone from a floundering 10 laps of hauling myself through the water to 100 laps (only 25s) and taking a great pleasure in swimming and improving my health and fitness. Some people may have criticism for this guys and his style but THANKYOU Terry Laughlin for helping me find something I'm good at!

  • excellent - great to see a relaxed swimming style which still provides great return in terms of speed. Very different to my own splash 'n' dash style in tri races! Thanks for the advice.

  • good good

  • I have studied all these lectures. I have followed your instruction for about a year and the results have been AMAZING !

You've gotta watch Seinfeld; the episode when Kramer swim's the East River New york !

  • Subscribed. Will be waiting for more of your vids! Movements look so smooth!

  • you initiate your catch to late. need higher elbow ...and sooner. close your fingers...imagine a canoe paddle vs a large fork. air bubbles will clear your hand if you SLIDE your hand in at 45 degrees

  • @trader388 and yet he could probably swim faster than you without your advice. watch all his vids before you comment on his technique and you will understand why he swims the way he does. mmmmmmkaaaay!

  • @ktayor1 not swimming like that he couldn't.

  • @trader388 Whatever, well when you get to his age and can hold world records for your age group like he does, then come back on here and lecture him again mmmmmmmmkaaaaay!

  • @ktayor1 what I said about his technique is factual....regardless of his age or speed. mmmmmkaaaaay! yourself

  • @trader388 well what he say's is his own technique that he has developed and it works for him which has led to world records, despite your factual technique analysis of his style, watch all his videos on this lesson and learn before you comment mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Oh and have you heard of Sun Yang, he use's this style too, so tell him to go and change to your factual technique, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

  • @trader388 while he has his fingers too separated, the canoa paddle is a myth is not a natural form of the hand so having it like that involve the use of muscles and energy you must save,

  • @trader388 regarding to canoe paddle metaphor google : Optimising the freestyle swimming stroke: the effect of finger spread

  • @johnPiercey ok I looked it up. Says the highest co eff of drag is your fingers in their natural position which is just slightly spread. This guy has them spread well more than that.

  • I subscribed,

cant wait to start these techniques

I'm aiming for a mile as target 1

  • That's awesome... I subscribed!

If I ever need to swim to shore, while boating... especially without fins, I want to know how to survive the distance.

    Mahalo.

  • Thanks for the upload!
