  • wtf did he mean by their aint no motive for this crime?

  • @TheMehakarp hes saying he has no reason to kill her

  • @TheMehakarp a motive is a reason for doing something. he's saying to the police, "there's no reason why i would have killed jenny, because she was my friend." (:

  • early killers, true killers!!!

  • GOOD INTRO !!

    GREAT BASS

  • they look so british lol

  • wow... i never thought about all that i just assumed he was a troubled song writer

  • FANTASTIC, PERFECTLY THOUGHT OUT!

  • do you know were i can find a live version when he says She kicked and screamed while I held her throat?

  • A trilogy can't have 4 parts? Clearly never read Douglas Adams

  • @rachellochness Actually no, a trilogy can't have 4 parts; a trilogy is a set of three linked pieces of work, and The Killers themselves have referenced this set of works as a trilogy, therefore making the notion of further parts redundant. The numerical prefix tri/tetra etc.is used to denote the number of parts.

For the record a set of works with 4 parts is called a Tetralogy: a tetralogy is a compound work that is made up of four distinct works, just as a trilogy is made up of three works.

  • @rebeldiamonds Yer, its called a joke..... :P Reference to the fact that Douglas Adams wrote a trilogy of four parts. I do actually know what a trilogy is.

  • @rachellochness

hahaha. dw. i laughed, i hate it when people cut down humour with a logical discussion of the finer points of the jokes many inconsistencies T_T

  • @Shmoofles aha same. I'm glad someone got my joke.

  • @rebeldiamonds SNAP! hahahaha, own it!

  • @rebeldiamonds Congratulations. You totally got the joke.

  • @rebeldiamonds Exactly right! Tri- means 3 as in three parts.

  • @rebeldiamonds PWND

  • @rebeldiamonds clearly never read Douglas Adams

  • Great track, but so is "Read My Mind' and 'Human," and SO MANY others of this band's !

  • 0:05 jajajajajaja the face of the girl wearing red !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jajajajajajaja

  • such a under rated song

  • Happy Birthday Jules!

  • Awesome!! Hey what others Killers song have amazing bass lines like this?

  • Unless there's an official word from them, your murder trilogy idea sounds cute but far fetched due to inconsistencies such as the one stated by WingScarred.

  • Luv this effin sound!!!!

  • dont do drugs. stay in school kids.

  • ahh the memories

  • great song, awesome Band! KILLERS FOREVER!!!!!

  • Is it possible to marry music? If so I would marry this song.

  • I actually mildly disagree with the description. I absolutely think that those songs tell this story, but I also think that Mr. Brightside is a part of it, as well, making it a quartet.

Mr. Brightside fits perfectly in between "Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf" and "Midnight Show." Jenny has just left him, so he spies on them, finds out who the other guy is, and realizes that she was cheating on that guy with him, not the other way around, which leads him to his actions in "Midnight Show."

  • @WingScarred605 Also, Sawdust is a B-Sides album. I'll bet LTBOTS is a B-Side of Mr. Brightside, a song maybe they intended to put in Hot Fuss originally, but decided not to. Also, I have it that Midnight Show is two songs before Jenny Was a Friend of Mine, so I'm not sure what's up with yours.

  • @xNighTofDaYx i think that's a distinct possiblity. maybe i's 4 songs, not 3. mr brightside would fit perfectly.

  • @xNighTofDaYx no because in this song he's already saying that he did something...

  • he sounds english in this song

  • @misssamstown he sounds english in a lot of his songs.

  • i always knew this song was part of the murder trilogy and it kinda great becouse they name themselves the killers but i always have a other explanation for this song. and every time i tell it to someone there always like i'd never seen it that way.

  • @lulukissbe whats your view?

  • @lulukissbe And what way do you see it?

  • the preppy killer killed jenny levin.

  • love that bass line

  • well the little explanation sorta helps, but how do you explain that midnight show is 9 tracks after jenny was a friend of mine?

  • @WingScarred605 The same way you explain why LTBOTS was released two albums and a whole three years later. They wanted to space it out so it wasn't obvious.

  • And then you whisper in my ear

I know what you're doing here

    is the absolutly saddest part

  • i cannot get enough of this song, after years of listening to it! best killers song yet!

  • The bass is beast.

  • This song in particular and the Murder Trilogy are rather funny if you think of them as a being sequels to "869-5309/Jenny" by Tommy Tutone

  • I absolutely love this song!!!!!! <3

  • who is the guy these songs are referring to then????? whats the story?

  • The Killers produced a trilogy of three songs: Leave The Bourbon on the Shelf(which is part 1), Midnight Show (part 2), and then this song(as Brandon says, a "reflection" of what happened in the othr two songs). Brandon isn`t referring to any actual person, he`s just telling the story of a boyfriend who murdered his girlfriend...kind of in the boyfriend`s perspective. But their song "Where Is She?" is written about a girl murdered who was once at 1 of their shows in Ireland...so yeah haha. :D

  • @HaggyWaggy the song is about the murder of some girl called Jenny.

  • !!come to israel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @BIGFIRMERIC: The murder tilogy, as I understand it, is 3 songs: Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf, Midnight Show, and Jenny Was a Friend of Mine. They are a sort of story, and you listen to them in the order listed.:) My fav though is this one.:D

  • I always liked the Killers. But upon discovering the murder trilogy now I realize just how good they are, too bad their new stuff isn't like this.

    Killers <3

  • DEFINATELY my favorite song out of the "murder trilogy" (:

  • agreed, althoughh Midnight Show and Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf are amazing too :)

  • @2nerdsinabucket def like midnight show way better

  • mark is really tall

  • My fave Killers-song! effin awesome lyrics!

  • This song rocks! Really awesome! TK the best.

  • also shout out to my aunt Jenny!! happy birthday my fellow libra!

  • lol. You know this is about the murder of someone called Jenny

  • @platypae333 Yeah, or a young death at any rate.

  • love these guys!!! saw them last month in jerzey, AWESOME!!!!

  • The bass line only gets better live :D

  • funny pic of the drummer at 1:00 dressed up as cow or something lol!

  • i think hes a gingerbread man.

  • WAT A INTRO BASS LINE!!!

  • I LOVE The Killers! and the murder trilogy is so cool bc all the songs are great! Love the vocals too XD

  • i have this cd and my fav is mr. brightside, but this song is good too.

  • Yeah it has like a kick ass bassline.

  • this song has such a sick bassline

  • Yeah man.

  • Yes! This is why I like this song in particular!

  • this trilogy is so awesome all the songs are great especially this one

  • super song

  • i love this song. this is the killers at there best there new stuff's shit.

  • great killers track !!!!!!

  • fav

  • fucking amazing song

  • The 'murder trilogy' somewhat does make sense, but trilogies don't work backwards for the most part.

Unless they did some kind of Momento thing.

    Good song though

  • Neither does this one

  • this trilogy yeah? i've only heard this 1 but it intreuges me...kill(her) lol(sic)

  • 2nd in the trilogy. no wonder there r the weird noses at the beginning

  • 3rd in the trilogy

  • Ricky Davis is also from Las Vegas

  • the Killers? how ironic cause brandon flowers is a nice guy from vegas, i know their commercial and their nu stuff is too poppy but i lol them

  • wow, now that I really listen to the lyrics they make perfect sense with the rest of the trilogy. brilliant.

  • soo....

why did he kill jenny? like when it says "she said she loved me but she had somewhere to be" or something like that, like was she cheating on him, or what? why did he kill her? just curious :P

  • becuz she cooked his food wrong, duh...

  • jealousy i guess. in 'leave the bourbon...' she's left him and doesn't love him anymore. i guess this is his revenge or his way of keeping her to himself.

    hope this helps~ <3

  • He killed Jenny because he was jealous that she had left him for another man.

Like in "Leave The Burbon On The Shelf" this is where we know he becomes jealous, because he starts drinking to control it, hence the title. in "Midnight Show" he actually kills her.

I, personally think that there was another person too, the "drive faster" bit in the backround, i interpret as another person (:

hope this has been helpful :] x

  • yes andyib632 this song is fucking cathartic and i mean god have u ever felt...? this is 1 of my jukebox tunes in dublin city of angels...and gear

  • I play GTA Vice city stories with this song while doing zero to hero

  • you can really get into this song, the feel of the lyrics are good for taking out energy/anger etc.

  • Ok Patman,

    That's a fair statement.

I'm certain that there is a lot of Killers fans.

  • the vocals are different but theyre not bad

  • Having met the lovely Brandon and the boys in a bar, I find it difficult to believe that anybody can be so offensive about them. They are really very nice people with no egos. :) This song is actually amazing!

  • what bar???

  • mahiki london

  • This song is about killing someone. Do you have something to tell us? O_O

  • definitely the best of the trilogy

  • good song

  • the guy who just said that can eat his socks untill he sdmits he is wrong! its a well good song especially the part that the base plays.... Fool!!!

  • YEIS 2 DAT!

  • True that.

  • Who cares if he's Mormon? The musics great! I listen to it a lot, and I'm Lutheran.

WHO CARES! He could worship satan for all I care.

  • The Killers are so rad, im going in edmonton, i cant wait.

  • This is such a great idea. A trilogy of songs that all relate to each other and together make a story. Very creative. Go Killers!

  • guns 'n' roses also had a trilogy

    The Killers are AWESOME!

  • my drama class made a music vid for this. it was actually really good.

  • the killers = murder trilogy

    that's quite awesome :)

  • The Killers....Murder trilogy...Ironic?

  • hahaha!! i just noticed that!!

  • @MCRxSimsXAnime I know, right? I always wondered if there was some connection

  • @platypae333 lol, Yeah.

  • this song rocks, and the killers kick ass.

  • I saw these guys march 8th.

    Best concert of my life...

  • I think that it's cool that there is a murder trilogy. It's a cool story.

  • and i saw them on monday =)

  • This is the best killers song!

  • Hot fuss is well better than sams town and day and age!

  • idk bout that

  • idk stands for" I Don't Know".

  • mr brightside isn't part of this murder thing because that song is about brandons real-life experiences with being cheated on.

these songs are obviously not based on his own experiences , otherwise he would be in jail :P

  • i'm so jealous

i wish i could see them in concert : (

  • hey! see if you can get tickets to V festival this summer if you're in the uk -they're headlining.

  • Which V fest???? (london way or the other one)?

  • seeing them in may!! so stoked!

  • at 3:11 they look like models lol.

    great song!

  • seen them last night at the lg arena birmingham-fucking awsome

  • this song has got to have the sickest bass line i've ever heard. i almost giz on myself listening to it!! gah, i love the killers.

  • love the bassline on this song

  • Wait didn't 'Jenny Was A Friend of Mine' and 'The Midnight Show' come out before 'Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf'? So how is that the first part?

  • If that's true (and I don't know if it is since i'm too lazy to look it up)then it's possible that "Leave the bourbon on the shelf" Is just a prequel or something.

  • 'Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf' was written at the same time, if not earlier as the two on Hot Fuss, it just wasn't released until Sawdust, check Wiki on it

  • Even if they were written/released out of order, I don't really see why it matters. It wouldn't be the first series to be written out of order.

  • ic just wondering

  • just cuz leave the bourbon on the shelf wasnt in hot fuss doesnt mean it wasnt written when the rest where,

sawdust just had the songs they didnt put on their first 2 albums.

another example would be all the pretty faces; that wasnt released until sawdust in 07 but they played it at glastonbury 2005, so they obviously wrote it years before, so it could be the same case with leave the bourbon on the shelf

  • love this song. no more to say

  • cool video

  • it's so addicting...

  • amazing song

they should of made a video for this

  • they were gonna make a video for all three songs and put them together in a short movie thing, but they didn't do it.

  • mr brightside wouldnt really fit in the category. mr brightside isnt as creative as killing your ex

  • but i mean it could be jealousy

("and my stomach is sick" - could relate to the bourbon)

  • well thats true but the murder trilogy is kinda dark while mr brightside is....colorful?

  • mr brightside could be part of this ( well if the murder trilogly wasn't a trilogy)

  • this is what music is all about

    amazin song

  • Dude, this whole murder trilogy thing is soooo sick. That's pretty darn creative and rad. Nice

  • cool pics awesome song

  • LOVE this bass line, not only is it the hook but it's still holding down the low end. These guys are brilliant.

  • the murder trilogy thing is such a great ideo!!! ne1 no why that short movie thing idea for it got scrapped?!!?!?!?!?!!

i luv this song great pics! XD

  • i like your explanation. it clarifies the songs to the point where i can have a good idea of what he's singing about. :) most songs i have no idea what the song's about XD

  • that sound at 14 seconds is like when you get a txt while your listening to music..

  • it doesnt say in the song she kicked and screamed while i held her throat. it says she couldnt scream while i held her close

  • Brandon Usually Sings

She kicked and screamed while I held her throat" Live On The Second Verse
