  • Zep song soup!!! Custard pie and Wantong song are clear. Sick again too if you play guitar or have good ear. Nice seed-song for future Physical Graffiti tracks.

  • No one can come close to Bonzo.

  • Where are the LYRICS? DD: I wanna sing!

  • IS THERE ANY LYRICS? D: I wanna sing!

  • Swan Song is a great song, and this aint bad either, does sound alot like Wanton Song I agree.

  • @LORDGOAT1976 I have a feeling that this song, merged with other elements (possibly from another Zeppelin song that wasn't released) came together as "The Wanton Song". The Beatles used this method of creating songs in their later years.

  • THIS IS THE WANTON SONG

  • Jesus...their outtakes kick more ass than the latest "it" alternative rock band that the stations pump. Just imagine the boys going back to the studio, cleaning this one up, finishing it, playing it live with Jason on drums. These Nickelback lovers would shit their collective pants once they heard the power of the Almighty Zeppelin.

  • Bonzos big beats!

  • Oh my gosh that solo.

  • id say so they would of had more hits but the buying public and peoples sense abilities got in the way of hearig some great music from led zeppelin and you know one thing that got in the way of 45s not selling it was peoples thoughts on is the music worth me paying that much1.50 to buy a single or do i use that money for something else more important priorites and choices is why somethings didnt sell much.

  • @anonwebserfer zeppelin rarely made singles and if they did it was all the record company's idea

  • i'm a 100% convinced that if these song wouldn't be "Ignored" it would be one hit of led zeppelin!... no doubt.... these song is just amazing... page with his unique riffs... john paul johns with his bass that can make a song look like a fine piece of art... Bonzo (R.I.P) with his drums playing with crazy and unique sense of beats... and robert plant... with that voice he had those days... i would love that these song had the quality of No quarter... Ten Years Gone... The Rover... between others

  • I don't trust who doesn't like Led Zeppelin...

  • Sounds very much like Custard Pie

  • @fordmoto100 i agree, also a little bit of trampled under foot

  • Never heard this before!

    Thanks for posting Frank!

  • And of course Bonzo just keeps tearing up the studio with his badass drums...

  • Catchy tune, I wish there was better quality though. Thanks for the upload!

    5/5

  • wow, a zep song i havent heard! awesome, its a crime that this wasn't released

  • funky zep shit boi!

  • Physical Graffiti save our souls

  • This is a tight awesome groove...

  • Do I hear "shake my tree"? Coverdale/Page?

  • This song is great love it it's a pitty thay didn't recorded and release this officially.

Great drums and guitar by Jimmy

  • i thought when they put out coda they put out all there songs they never put on any albums....bowlshit i bet anyone theres like 100 songs that Zep never put out

  • ur right i heard in 1973 led zeppelin was going to do a 50's cover album and it was gonna contain your so aquare by elvis presley and all the 50's classics done led zeppelin style

  • omg ahhahahahhahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahah i commented on my own comment not knowing it was me and i told my self that zep were gonna do a classic album

  • wtf?

  • i made a comment on my own comment lol and i didnt know it was me

  • ur stoned bro

  • This turned into "In the Morning" which later turned into "In the Light"

  • not at all

  • how do you get this shit

  • on start it sound a bit like tampled underfoot

  • Agreed... but its still got a different swing to it. Beautiful<3

  • its sounds like something that might have had on presense. you can hear

some cool possiblities on how jimmy

might have made some complete song

    from this project.

  • This is a rarity.

    Alright!

  • I have a question.

Where the fuck are all of you all finding these awesome recordings? I thought Page was the only person that had access to these recordings.

  • I think alot of shit was stolen from Pagey's house and ended up on the bootleg circuit - like outtakes and soundboards

  • I don't condone thievery, but this is so DAMN good!

  • ya page was robbed and some of his stuff was bootlegged

  • page needs to stop being soo greedy. hes got fans that wants to hear this shit!

  • it's unfinished outtakes with marginal sound quality that hasn't been mixed down (too late, now). That's why he doesn't release these tunes. I don't think he's being greedy at all. After he put out that 5+hr DVD in 2005,with a small price tag I might add, I'd say he was very generous. Talk about a love letter to the fans. Besides-you get to hear it on YouTube for free and he's not doing what other artists do, like have all their music pulled for copyright infringement, is he?

  • dude u think about shit way too much

  • i know. keeps me sane.

  • Can't argue with that.

  • they really should have put this onto CODA...

a much more enjoyable song than wearing and tearing

  • Bonham Knew how to do it..He had the Bernard Purdy shuffle going.,Jeff Porcaro done it later on with Rosanna, its a drummer thing.

  • find the bridge, called the crescent silly connection

  • Holy shit listen to jonesy he's the fuckin man

  • I like the bridge.

  • I think this is a recorded example of the guys jamming around several musical riffing ideas. No doubt Custard Pie soon gelled from many jam sessions such as this one, as well as Celebration Day. I also hear Hots On For Nowhere in there. This is undoubtedly Page jumping from one free-form riff experiment to another, and Plant just doing some vocal howling before any lyrics were born, in their studio. This is what it would have sounded like to hear them "creating."

  • this is custard pie before custard pie :)

  • idk why everyone thinks this sounds like custard pie. Custard pie is just a standard blues progression. This is a totally different song and is not bluesy at all. Not to mention one of the best zeppelin songs ive ever heard, but definately not related to custard pie.

  • They probably say it sounds like Custard Pie cause it does. If you can't hear it there's something wrong with your hearing.

  • well its not custard pie. its got the same feel but this is such a more complex song. it IS VERY bluesy tho

  • its nothing like custard pie you guys are crazy

  • maybe....VIRTUAL ZEPPELIN SHOULD PLAY IT...and others "rare" songs like "sugar mama".....don't you think mg4150...!!!??

let me know if you will do please....

    thx

  • wtf are you guys talking about

    this song

is clearly inspired by CELEBRATION DAY

  • Yea definately celebration day

  • This track *could* have been a classic Zep tune with a bit more manipulation !

  • Sounds a little like a cross between the Wanton Song and Trampled Underfoot. Even with the poor recording quality the Zeppelin brilliance shines through. It's still hard to believe that much talent ended up in a single band. The unbeatable Plant/Page combination backed up by the greatest rhythm section in rock history: John Paul Jones/John Bonham. Add that unique chemistry between the four of them and you have the finest rock band that ever stepped on a stage, the mighty Led Zeppelin.

  • There are also bits of Custard Pie too !

  • Sounds like trampled underfoot

  • I've had this for a while, and every time I hear it I think the same thing....what a rhythm section JPJ and Bonzo were. Even a lousy tape recorder still captures their phenomenol chemistry.

  • jimmy is just a real musician =)

    not like so many others

  • this is awesome they should definalty have put this on physical graffiti or presense or in through the out door

  • Zep-the real deal.

  • Isn't great to hear these guys with a shitty recorder like we all have. Their talent holds true regardless. Steal these new licks now!

  • It sounds similar to other material but it is still fantastic and GROOVY

  • Wow, so tell me again why these outtakes where not included on Pysical Graffiti? They fucking rock!

  • what a treat to find these...rare..P.S...can someone make a time machine??...2008 sucks...

  • i think 2009 will bring more of these old vintage songs, 'cause then i will be done with my final project for my school ,its gonna be old time licks with a touch of new (good) music

  • with this videos we can understand that led zeppelin was one of the most hard working bands that ever existed..each album had lots of tracks ignored...but amazing tracks too!

  • i love how a jam outtake is better than anything any band can come out with today

  • haha 100% agreed...!

  • mediocre led zeppelin is better than anyones best-Jimmy Page

  • agreed , it does sound like a mish mash of wanton song and custard pie, awesome tho

  • i wonder if thats why it didnt wake the album.....but who cares, we can listen to it now ...i love zeppelin

  • this is fucking awesome but i wish the vocals were louder

  • Totally fucking brilliant.

  • well this is joey. and i love led zepp. i dont know what combo of songs this is or even if its a compleatly new song but its badass

  • Is this from Tangible Vandalism? I got a double album bootleg by that name back in high school in like 87'. All the artwork and what not with killer outtakes form Graffitti. It's probably worth something being vinyl.Love it!

  • Is there any way you could convert the record into mp3s and send them to me or put them up on youtube?

  • Wish I could but I'm not set up we're I'm at right now.My albums have been stored away for awhile. Eventually I will.

  • This out-take has elements of Custard Pie, the Wanton Song and Trampled Underfoot, but yet it has it's own identity...I like it, might have been a really good song with polishing.

  • IT IS AN EARLY VERSION OF CUSTARD PIE.

  • I hear Custard Pie/Wanton Song.

    Funky.

  • You can't say it's not a completely different song. It certainly has elements that are like Custard Pie, it may have even been developed and changed into Custard Pie.

But if that were the case, it's been changed enough to where it's a different song. The main riff is not the same. The solo is not the same. The guitar tone is way different, while Custard Pie is heavily distorted, this one is pretty clean. The lyrics didn't sound like the same lyrics. Its an entirely different song.

  • sounds like a mix if sick again trampled underfoot... and the rover...

  • did led zep make alot of remakes? or like remixed versions of songs?

  • thay didnt like to remix alot because its harder to play songs live so they remake to make it easier to play & remember

  • The pictures of the four of them dressed in drag (or at least very funny, perhaps taken in Japan i think?) are hilarious :)

  • This has a few riffs from the Celebration song, but this one should have been mastered into a complete song cause it's good, see boys & girls if Zep made 1 more album like I think they should, this would be a great remake.

  • this song well recorded and changed around abit here and there couldve been easily a hit no question

  • I think i'm going to learn this song on my guitar!

  • mean

  • well, cmon...

I think im gonna take a shit, take a shower, make a sandwich...then i think i might take a nap...then im going to play guitar and go to bed. thats what im going to do...what are you going to do?

  • who knows acid, this lil number may have been the genesis of both those songs

  • A Very Different groove!

  • i had a bootleg cd back in 93' that had about 13 or 14 outtakes that zeppelin did. that could have been released around houses of the holy, physical era, this was one of those songs. another i can remember was a number called midwestern mamma, jenning farm blues, sunshine woman, and a different version of kashmir actually called "driving through kashmir" sadly the disc was stolen from my car. all that i remember it was call "making of a dinosaur" by blue kangaroo label any one see it around??

  • know where i can get one?

  • where in 93 would you get zep bootlegs no internet cds ...and how did the other versian of kashmir sound

  • amazing how they could NEVER go wrong.. even the things they dont release are hits...not like today.

  • Imagine that... my favorite LZ tune was never released

  • It has been released, not on any of the original album but on some albums with rare receordings

  • I think because of the slight similarities in Custard Pie and the Wanton song they didn't release it on Physical Graffiti. That's why the song Houses Of The Holy was not released on the album Houses Of The Holy because of the slight similarities between that song and Dancing Days. However, they should have released it on another album for sure.

  • I mean they should have released this song on another album.

  • Bonzo can boogie! They all are here. I am hearing the greatest percussion section ever ever ever .Custard Pie-ey.

  • the drum part is very similar to the wanton song

  • HELL YEAH!

  • They should have put it on Physical Graffiti or Coda or something. It's an amazing song!

  • They should release songs like this.

  • this sounds like maybe a extremely early rehearsal of Custard Pie..

i say early because they have little parts but a lot of different parts too.

    dont you think????

  • yeah i was thinking the same. Thats maybe what became then custard pie...Love the solo part. Drrrrums.Orgasmic!!!

  • ....this is a great raw example of how good jones and bonham were together!! Solid rock!!

  • wow.. an early x-mas.. cool find..
