  • dance as an ART is very hard to evaluate according to some fixed objective standards.. that's also why I don't like competitive dancing, i like to dance to entertain people and make them happy.., if everyone is happy, i am happy... it's like what the Boxer Pacman said: boxing is not for killing your opponent but to entertain your audience..

  • Which album can this rumba be found? Thanks for giving the name..

  • The name of the song is: Abrazme

  • The correct name is "Abrázame" by the mexican singer Alejandro Fernandez

  • Is that the name of the song? But who's singing this song? And what does Abrazame mean?

  • Yes, the name of the song is "Abrázame"... I don´t know if it is true but some guys over here say that this version is from a singer called "Tamara"... Abrázame means: hugh me...

  • Thank you, I'll check it out.

  • Can someone please tell mea the name of this song?

  • abrazame-by tamara

  • a rumba is a dance of love!! and you danced not a hate of it passionately: (in general it looked good but I ran short of something:((

  • rumba is not only a dance of love... it has a twist..

when you dance rumba.... you should erase the mindset that it is only a dance of love...

but you should put in there also... the line

"I LOVE HIM, I HATE HIM, I LOVE HIM AND HATE HIM AGAIN"

that was what ive learned... from dancing this type of dance.... its not just about the love thingy.....

  • I agree, though I have discovered the Rumba to be the dance of emotional relationships. So it can be a the love of siblings, not just raunch between lovers.

  • judging from the minus you just had, many people here apparently hate their brother or sister. lol

  • Apparently so, they obviosuly have a deluded knowledge of the Rhumba.

  • they have an even deluded idea of love in general

  • @cresgiatch really interesting point. makes sense!!! changes the way i look at the dancers. thanks.

  • @irishjanet thanks

  • @cresgiatch I completely agree, thats why I think it's a beautiful representation of love, as it shows both the highlights and lowlights of love... like the guy should think not only am I in love but also, "I WANT HER AND NEED HER, I DON'T NEED HER, I NEED HER, I DON'T NEED NOR WANT HER". and what I love in rumba is the tensions thats created when these two don't match up.

  • beautifully it is danced and isn't requiring a comment

  • beautiful rumba.. For me the best latin dance.

  • zajebiste!~!!!

  • jor! xD la tamara!

  • think about it are there any latino dancers dancing in the idsf competitions atm its mostly eastern european people who dominate International latin dancing tbh

  • Thats because these kings of competitions are not popular in latin countries. Plus people are to broke but they would be good to given the chance.

  • i disagree with u

  • stupid comment ... say WHY you disagree ..

  • its a whole different matter to be dancing competitively and to dance just because one feels like it! and i think eastern europe with its communist history prolly has a better system (ie stricter) when it comes to training competitive dancers. just think of their performance in women's gymnastics! haha.

  • People who were born in the Latin countries do not automatically become good Latin dancers. I would like to quote Albert Einstein," When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge." dancewu(dot)net

  • offcourse people who are born in latin countries are not neccesarily good dancers lol

  • I compete against other couples where winning is everything to them. They lost touch with what it means to enjoy dancing.

  • who sing this song _

  • Tamara-Abrazame

  • im gonna be better than you souldancer :) and thats a promise

  • you wish ;)

  • thx

  • no problem:) i hope u find it!:)

  • the only thing i regret about in my life is quitting dancing:(

  • well you can start again any time u want i quit dance like 4 times in my life because of some stupid reasons but thy didn't stoped me to start again every time, now i have the whole life in front of me to enjoi dance sport and to be the best all u need is to be very serious and work work work work and agin work!soon i'll be much better than them and just because i want to be and demonstrate to myself that i can do it

  • u can always start again :)

  • thanks guys.. but i think it's a bit too late now... 21 ...with studying and shit like that i dont think i will be able to find all this necessary time to renew my technique and stuff... but i will think about it:) thanks loads

  • My observation of people quitting dancing is that most people wanted to win,if not winning that means not dancing any more! Well, I danced because I love dancing, and I never entered any competition, therefore I never ever quit. I started dancing ever since my wife who did not like dancing, divorced me. That was 24 years ago. I have lived a good life! dancewu(dot)net

  • yes thats true u don't have to go to competitions u have u'r whole life in fron of to enjoi dancing

  • its true. but it is a different feeling when you dance and you r good and u win, then u quit and u realise what u have done when it is late.i will do my best to restart dancing but of course there wont be competitions anymore

  • I am not saying that I am right- But that in this world to get to the top and stay there, one has to pay a dear price which i am not willing to. In sports, one has to take steroid to be better than the others; in politics, one country has to divide everyone else in order to concour; In dancing industry, nationality claimed authenthicity in order to get the market, or one champion attacked a former champion in order to take over the huge market. They are all politics. dancewu(dot)net

  • yes you noticed well that most of the people quit dancing because all want to win,i see this every day in my dance school and in this world in general.I always wanted to win too...i always wanted to have at least 1 champion title but deep in my heart my dream was not to win 1st pleace at blackpool or GOC my dream was to win 1st pleace in the public heart,i want people to notice me when i'm dancing and i want people to enjoy watching me while dancing.

  • that has no difference to the typical competition-driven dancer. your "uniqueness" is merely your choice of judges. so you're more of an entertainer than dancesport that way.

  • 1. Eugene Katsevman / Maria Manusova (USA) (Bild)

    2. Maurizio Vescovo / Melinda Törökgyörgy (HUN) (Bild)

    3. Evgeniy Smagin / Rachel Heron (ENG) (Bild)

    4. Stefano Di Filippo / Analisa Di Filippo (ITA) (Bild)

    5. Zoran Plohl / Tatsiana Lahvinovich (SLO) (Bild)

    6. Denis Kuznetsov / Mariya Tzaptashvili (RUS) (Bild)

  • I vote for number 5 Tatsiana Lahvinovich the best there! I love the way she does the Rumba walk at the very beginning. I replayed it more than 20 times already. And I even sketched and made notes of that so that I could learn from it. dancewu(dot)net

  • me too i played it like 1000 times... I like number 4..

  • fuck the story of rumba...Rumba=passion=love that the history...not were it comes from beacuse the true origin of the rumba is from our heart from our soul and we dance rumba because we can't explain in words what we feel so that words have to be danced, once again it is not from Cuba....it's from our soul

  • The best description of Rumba, the dance of passion and love, ever! I already like you!

You must be a great dancer, because you sounded like you danced from your heart.dancewu(dot)net

  • the musik is "abrazame", by Tamara ! Very nice musik ! Sorry for my English, I'm French ! :)

  • The lady in red at the beginning was so wonderful. She danced so beautifully from the tip of the fingers down to the toes.I enjoyed watching her over and over again! Please don't tell me not to because she is not doing the AUTHENTIC LATIN! Let me learn something from her and enjoy my life a little more! Let the AUTHENTIC LATIN GO TO HELL, and I don't need them. Please don't tell me what I should learn from and what I should not! I can make up my own mind. dancewu(dot)net

  • that lady in red is Tatsiana Lavinovich i really like her to..she is so powerfull and so elegan also very strong...

  • uhm, what's the title of the song used on this video? =)

  • If China claimed that they invented the gun powder, the printing and the compass, etc. and "copyright" them. Do not "allow" any foreigner improving them! My question is: Is it possible? The history proves the opposite. The bombs the Israeli soldiers used in Gaza killing the Palestinians is already many times more powerful than the Chinese made fire crackers! The International Rumba is already refined to be very beautiful! this video is for those AUTHENTIC dancers to meditate! dancewu(dot)net

  • fernandez,This is competition style rumba, having been developed worldwide for decades. It is based on cuban motion, but has been adapted. Everyone in the dance industry knows it does not look like what is being danced in clubs socially. These dancers come from many countries to competitions. Dancers have introduced new figures and styling to streamline and make it elegant, and they also spend years developing technique and control. Perhaps it's just a matter of personal taste.

  • Cosmic, thank you for you opinion, but it's like making a sandwich with French bread, pork and adding some italian dressing, taking to Cuba and calling hamburgerin a diferent technique or dancing american country music we salsa step, and called salsa. The couple dance beautiful i never say the oposite, and we do not dance rumba in nigth clubs we use some steps here and them but we dance Rock in espanol,Mana,Ricky martin,or Flamengo(Gypsi Kings)in Cuba,Rumba usually is for the stage (Danza).

  • Well, I hope the history of Rumba say's it all. To those who are lacking knowledge; it's like making asandwich with French bread, pork and adding some italian dressing, taking to Cuba and calling hamburger. Of course I wouldn't do that. I respect the origin of hamburger and I'll always use the authentic recipe. I can guarantee you that it will taste much better and will show much more respect to the inventor. Rumba is Rumba; and it's Cuban.

    Thank You

    Giselle

  • He then may proceed to improvise lyrics stating the reason for holding the present Rumba ('decimar'; span.: to make ten-line stanzas), or instead tunes into a more or less fixed song such as: "Ave Maria Morena" (Yambú, Anónimo), "Llora Como Lloré" (Guaguancó, S. Ramirez), "Cuba Linda, Cuba Hermosa" (Guaguancó, R.Deza), "China de Oro (Laye Laye)" (Columbia), "Malanga (Murió)" (Columbia)".

Cuban Rumba can be broken down into three types: Yambú, Guaguancó and Columbia.

  • About the Rumba Music. Cuban Rumba song often begins with the soloist singing meaningless syllables, which is called 'diana(s)'.

  • Rumba is entirely different than ballroom suposted rumba, or the African style of pop music called rumba. Rumba developed in rural Cuba, and is still danced in Havana, Mantanzas and other Cuban cities as well as rural areas, especially those with a significant or predominant black community, although now it is infused with influences from jazz and hip hop.

  • In Cuba, Rumba is a generic term covering a variety of musical rhythms and associated dances. The rumba has its influences in the music brought to Cuba by Spanish colonizers as well as Africans brought to Cuba as slaves.

Rumba developed in the Cuban provinces of Havana and Matanzas in the late 19th century. As a sexually charged Afro-Cuban dance, Rumba was often suppressed and restricted because it was viewed as dangerous and lewd.

  • In the dance club here for the past 16 years, there is a woman, whose family came from Cuba, told me several years ago that her family would not allow her to dance Rumba. I never asked her the reason why she said that. Now I was urged to take a look of the Authentic Rumba recently, then I realized that is "A SEXUALLY CHARGED AFRO-CUBAN DANCE". I am an Architect/Artist, always curious of the expression of sexuality in PUBLIC. I think I found a subject matter looking into this. Thx dancewu(dot)net

  • George is not that sexualy anymore it more theatrical,(look for the video fundamental of rumba),is been modified by the cubans long time ago, I'm glad that you dance its so beautiful been on the floor or stage and express the body.

  • qqfernandezr: That is why I always dreamt of introducing Rumba to China more to the general public. you see people in this world, especially nowadays, needs to make love more often than making wars--- Or the world would come to an end more likely! By the way, I stopped eating red meat two years ago because I do not believe in killing,( since I watched the moive "Misfit" again.)Now I tried to pratice that philosophy! It is a personal thing! dancewu(dot)net

  • Dear georgewu5,search for (latin lover) or (Liz vega)they are ballroom dancer and also actors maybe you will understand.they are ballroom dancers he is from mexico and she is cuban, they are one of the best I have ever seen.look into his rumba or her mambo,is just perfect.

  • qqfernandezr: Sorry! I was not impressed by your sugesstion at all! Perhaps I have been used to Donnie Burns & Gaynor Fairweather for many years. I am the kind who likes the way Slavik and Elena to carry on the tradition to the Olympic Dancesport...They have much more to offer--Just like listenning to Brahms or to Rock and Roll music! I happened to be educated to the classical taste! And I get more out of it from international Latin than from the authentic Latin!Sorry! ........dancewu(dot)net

  • qqfernandezr: I respect your loyalty to your Authentic Latin. But please do not try to change my mind that Rock and Roll should be the music I listen to, not Brahms! I am too snobbish to lower myself to like Rock and Roll again. As a matter of fact I grew up in the sixties, But I never once liked Rock and Roll! It could be because I already loved Beethoven! It was too late to like something LESS! Forgive me to give you such a comparison. I did not mean to insult you. dancewu(dot)net

  • Ok,Mr Ludwing van Beethoven,I love his Piano sonatas,his Symphony 5 and 6,ooooh Fidelio ,Aria(ah! perfido)

  • George we always say, (para gusto se han echo los colores), you seem to be a very educated person so you should understand the language because they are dancing to music in our romantic and beautiful spanish language. In reference to classical music; I grew up in that enviroment, must the Opera. I'm a Italian decendent and I respect your preference. I am knowledgeable about the Arts (Botero and The Greek, etc. I have been to the Du Louvre in Paris and the Tablaos in Spain.

  • QQFERNANDEZR:My taste,if there is any reason why I like Donnie Burns, not some Authentic Cuban Rumba dancers, is as the following: Pucinni, Brahms, Beethoven, Shulmann, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Le corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright, Michelangelo, Da vinci, Inge, Sargent, Homer, Russian Ballets, Alex Moore's "Ballroom Dancing", Maxwell Bishop's "Internatiional Ballroom" Bronze, silver and gold, Corky and Shirley Ballas "Simply Beautiful Latin" Hilton's "Simply Beautiful Ballroom"..dancewu(dot)net

  • qqfernandezr: The strategy the Latinos are using recently is to DIVIDE AND CONQUER! If someone like myself is divided from what I already liked- International Latin, and ended up with a non-method Authentic Cuban Rumba, I have nothing, and I will be conquered!Art is an universial language,Spanish or not has nothing to do with dancing, that is what has been wrong among the Latinos lately- They used mostly their mouths instead of their rest of the body to dance! A mouthful dancer!dancewu(dot)net

  • Ok george, no sense of latinos ,anyway thats why we have jlo,Bandera, chayanne perfoming in a ballroom dancing movies,we know how to move our body is natural on us,I think you got lost on the subject,I never say dance the real rumba,I say i do not think that the first couple on the video are dancing any rum ba,the second couple are the best(white dress)(she is using the rumba movement an a very delicate and elegant way),Do not atack latinos please if you are so well educate,

  • that's not sexual dance :P:P:P That's love dance .. That's not the same ;) .. My partner has a boyfriend and he is jealous when he's watching us.. but.. that's his problem.. I'm don't care and he should know - that in dance is different by the life :) (I say.. we can kissing in the dance, but out of it we should be not friends ;)

  • the italian couple was good

  • Absolutely beautiful! dancewu(dot)net

  • this is definitely a rumba. the fast/slow, the body shapes, foot work and bend/straighten of the legs are obvious if you knew anything about the rumba.

  • I'm,a profesional dancer from CUBA,I studied dance for 11 years and graduated as a profesional Dancer and coreographer,I'm new in the US,Rumba is from CUBA and againg that is not absolutly Rumba moves,This couple dance very beautiful(I'm agree),But is not RUMBA with dance diferent in our country.

  • i'd be more impressed if you could spell Choreographer correctly, or spell anything correctly for that matter. it doesnt matter how "Rumba" is defined in "Cuba" in the ballroom latin dance world it is defined by the fast/slow movment variations and body language, it is a dance of rapture where ever your from.

  • Thank You for you correction on grammar,I understand You must be very bother.I hopeyou understand that we are not talking about spelling it's about dance stay we the subjet,at least I comunicate in your languajes and other four.

    Thank You

  • qqf:Now I know you had a job to do, that explained why you fought so hard in the past few months! You have to promote the Cuban Rumba for a market! you have to tell the whole world has been wrong, dancing the WRONG RUMBA, or what they have been dancing was anything but Rumba!

You are really desperate! You are probably selling some Authentic Cuban Rumba, but found out that the whole world is so far ahead of you, say some 50 years or so, since Castro took over Cuba! Wake up, man! dancewu(dot)net

  • qqf: You talked big all the time! I am for one who really like to see you dancing in a video from YouTube, to see how authentic your Authentic Cuban Rumba is. A picture is better than a thousand MOUTHS! I BET YOUR DANCING IS NO WHERE AS GOOD AS DONNIE BURNS, WHO IS A SCOT FROM ENGLAND, NOT A CUBAN BORN DANCER LIKE YOUSELF! Frankly, I do not think nationality has any thing to do with how good one dances! Unless you are a genius, which I doubted very much by now! dancewu(dot)net

  • I have never atacked you,I'm a self employee in your country never work for any body as,I teach contemporary dance,I left my country many years ago,I travel around the world and I dont try hard to make money,I was privilege to came from a family taht has never have to worrie about bills,my housband open the studio as a gift for me to enjoy somenthing that i like it,not because nesesited,I dont practice rumba,I learned,I was in the Alicia Alonzo ballet academy,I dont need to dance.

  • if I want to,I can due,I'm lucky you think whatever you want about me.You will be surprise,if you get to see me once.

Please at this point dont reply any more, you are very direspecfull with no education at all.For a man to speak this way to a Lady

  • Donnie Burns is, gah, can't even find words. Their rumba in Assen was horrible beyond everything I've seen.

  • It is a rumba mister fernandez but yes different from the original cuban rumba as with most of the latin dances danced in competition ballroom. You should understand that as a professional dancer. Modern latin ballroom rumba derived from the bolero and the son but none the less in today's context it is still called rumba and therefore their steps are still rumba steps, even as pro dancers we cannot change the decision made years and years over by the IDSF

  • Xavier Cugat who came from Spain and Cuba to the U.S. in 1934 soon was crowned The Rumba King. He worked out a simplified version of the Cuban rumba. In 1954, he came to Hong Kong with his wife Abbe Lane, and stormed the city! I was in senior high school then. I was really impressed! dancewu(dot)net

  • qqfernandezr(1 month ago): when you said I was "very educated". And then you said I am not "educate( educated)". Here you said this video is not Rumba, How do I know by tomorrow you will say it is Rumba! Make up your mind! Meanwhile let the rest of us enjoy these beautiful dancing, IDSF GRAND SLAM FINAL 2005- RUMBA! Whatever the f--- you call it does not change my mind! I still love it! dancewu(dot)net

  • Tamara-Abrazame :)

  • does anyone know what the song title is called and who sings this version? thanks!

  • beautiful just beautiful

  • Beautifully danced. So much emotions being displayed which is quite rare for younger couples. Probably not in Europe or USA but it's rare in NZ.

  • Il titolo lo conoscono tutti quelli che ballano.....

    Questi sono proprio bravi.

    Consiglio di Vedere Prosperini Emiliano....

  • It's quite amazing how well they dance. Stopping so swiftly and smoothly right in the middle of spins is quite difficult (or at least I find it is).
